QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) I like the bunt. I just don't like giving up outs against Mays, but with the way they've been hitting w/RISP, what the hell.

Nice little break there. Iguchi is a very good bunter.

Good job by Pods, nice to see him try to turn on the ball. He seems to be a lot better hitter when he swings hard instead of just trying to serve the ball around the field. No bunting for Iguchi here.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) Why does everyone insist he is making nine million this year? What is it, like 7 or 8 this year? Since it's a 3/27 deal, it's better just to take the average. And no, I'm not complaining cause he's allowed one run in 3 innings. It's that he continually allows runs after we score.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Letting up 1 run isnt bad, its when he lets up 5/6 that it becomes bad. But wouldn't it be nice to see him buckle down after we score a run, and let the Sox try to increase the lead?

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) So if you throw it down the middle at the knees, it is a ball? If it's Mark Buehrle, it's a home run ball

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Pods had zero chance to hold him to a single. It would have been fairly close, as Morneau is not very fast. jphat, all I could think of was feeling bad for you when I heard on the radio we were hitting the ball hard right at them.

Just got back home from work to see Garcia look like he's about to do his typical run allowed after the Sox score. Pods continues to shine on defense!

Wild Card Help...
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) 2 RISP for BAL 2 outs... I wonder if they'll walk Newhan so Matos can bat with the bases loaded for the 3rd time today?

Wild Card Help...
FWIW, if the White Sox win 5 more games this season, they're guaranteed a playoff spot.

Wild Card Help...
BTW, weren't the Cubs officially eliminated today from the playoffs?

Toronto scored 4 in the 1st, and after two batters, it's 4-2 with ARod homering.

Magglio and CLee...do we really miss them??
Of course we miss their offense. There's no one who thinks the offense is better without them. However, we needed to free up money to fill a lot of holes, and that's what was done. KW had a terrific offseason last year, and I'm eagerly anticipating this coming offseason also.

Yankees are down 3-0 in the first and haven't retired a Jays batter yet.

Good to see Dye in the 5 hole
QUOTE(Traveler1776 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) 80 Ks and 80 pop ups with runners in scoring position. And the most homers by any right fielder in baseball. You know what I noticed in Dye last night....a sense of trying to make up for the night before. It would be nice to see this type of urgency from a few more players.

Question
If the Sox make the playoffs via the Wild Card, and lose in the first round of the playoffs....it still shouldn't be considered a big collapse. First, you play the season to make the playoffs. Second, the Indians are on an incredible streak and are playing about as well as any team has in a handful of years. Finally, it's not like the Sox are a 200 million dollar team that just blows away the opposition with their talent.

Official College Football Thread
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) It's on ABC. I'm pretty sure it's a national game. Which means we likely won't get it here, as that's the West Coast ABC game. Instead, I think we get the 2:30 game of ND/Wash.
