Contreras Reads The Tea Leaves
It sounds optimistic, but the Sox still haven't offered him a deal. Still a long way to go it sounds for him to officially sign.

Crede and Garland to Texas?
According to my source, Guzman makes B.J. Upton look like a Gold Glove infielder. Guzman projects as either a LF, RF, or 1B.

Sox Acquire Javier Vazquez
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Is this trade gonna become official today? Counting on Duque to pass a physical is like counting on Kyle Orton to pick up a first down on 3rd-and-3......nothing's a sure thing.

Sox Acquire Javier Vazquez
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) Source? I can't find it right now, but I think it was in an Arizona paper with quotes from a team official.

What's KW's next big move?
QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) They want to move julio because he has looked worse each year for each of the least three years now. He is like all the hard throwing arms the tigers have had in their pen in the past. Projects that just end up getting worse when they should be getting better. Julio would be our worst reliever far and away next year and will likely be our most expensive. Say no to julio. I hate Julio, but he seems to me the type of guy that KW would pick up and hope that he regains his effectiveness.

What's KW's next big move?
1- finalize Vazquez trade 2- resign Contreras to 2 yr/20 million dollar extension 3- trade Garland/Crede to Orioles for Mora/Julio/prospect

Sox Acquire Javier Vazquez
I have no clue if this has been reported on here, but the Sox are only getting 3 million from Arizona.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) spaces between paragraphs please I had tabs for the new paragraphs, but they're didn't carry over on the post. I fixed it, as it was even bothering me to look at it.

My rant
QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) I think the White Sox are taking a great risk here. Yes they are. And maybe, just maybe, it's cause JR, KW, and Ozzie realize that changes needed to be made in order to continue to field a championship caliber team. Don't forget, the Indians are a team with a ton of momentum building up in their organization, and they're going to be damn good in the next 3-5 years also.

Houston a trading partner?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) That was a few years back. Lefty IIRC, but he's had injury problems and was in the majors a few years ago. Haven't heard anything about him in a while though. Injuries have made him lose most of his stuff. I'll be surprised if he's ever a solid starter in the majors again.

Garland for prospects ? ? ? ?
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) I don't know about that. Young has said as soon as his 6 years are up, he's gone. Exactly...but they still have 6 years with him, and they're hoping to build their team up in 2 to 4 years where they can compete with these guys. Out of everyone in baseball, Upton and Young might be 2 of the 10 most unlikely guys to get traded.
-
Garland for prospects ? ? ? ?
Just think of this....why in the hell would they trade Upton for Garland? There's not a single reason why they would do that.

Garland for prospects ? ? ? ?
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) How do you know? I was stunned they offered up Kazmir. Andy Marte got traded. He's not untouchable People know that I have a source that works with the team, and him and Young are the future of that organization.

Garland for prospects ? ? ? ?
Upton's not getting traded, END OF STORY!

Crede and Garland to Texas?
QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) Neither do I, but this board is completely enamored with prospects despite the fact that the majority never make it. Absolutely, especially in our system. This isn't bashing the organization, but we've been less than stellar at developing players over the last 10 years.

Crede and Garland to Texas?
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) I am in the camp of WIlkerson being vastly overrated. He's nothing to holler about in center, he strikes out too much (you want 360 K's from Thome and Wilkerson alone> Me neither), his speed and power hasn't manifested itself the way it has supposed to and he doesn't hit for a high average at all. He draws walks which is a big reason why internet baseball fans love him but I have no interest in Wilkerson personally. Now if you could get him and move him for something useful from a moneyball team, different story Exactly why I think this rumor is BS. Wilkerson is not a KW type player at all.

Crede and Garland to Texas?
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) If the Sox were able to make this trade, and it probably is just a BS rumor, the offense would be fun to watch. Maybe the most enjoyable White Sox offense of our lifetimes. Personally, I think this rumor is total BS. I think we would be the team that would have to give up a big time prospect, not the Rangers.
-
Crede and Garland to Texas?
Wilkerson is a damn good player who's always played in a bad hitter's park. He could easily put up numbers better than Blalock or Crede.
-
Crede and Garland to Texas?
Plain and simple... Hank Blalock is better than Joe Crede.

My rant
The last two days on this board, I've seen some of the strangest posts I think I've ever seen on this site. Here's one question I have for my fellow Sox fans: WHY ARE YOU SCARED OF KENNY WILLIAMS IMPROVING THIS TEAM? Now, I know I'm considered one of the more negative posters on this site. However, I can't believe how upset some people seem to be that KW is breaking up last year's team. Last year's WS winning Sox team was a good mix of talent with great chemistry, and also seemed to be a team of destiny all year. There's absolutely no guarantee that if the same team stayed together for the 2006 season that they would even go to the playoffs. There are many teams that have an amazing season one year, and then the next year, the ball doesn't bounce the same way it did the year before, and injuries happen that hurt the team. KW has made a few major moves that will significantly improve the team in the next year or two. Trust me, with the amount of money that the White Sox are bringing in right now (tickets, merchandise, etc.), there wasn't a chance in hell that JR and KW weren't going to go for the juggular when it comes to building the 2006 Sox team. I find it funny how some posters seem to get mad that we're bringing in these high priced guys like Thome and Vazquez. One question...since when did we worry about the WHITE SOX bringing in high-priced talent? Most of us used to long for the days we could have a high enough payroll to bring in the big contracts of talented players. Since we're not personally paying these contracts, why not just be thrilled that JR is going out of his way to put together an extremely talented team. Another thing that's frustrating me is how people are complaining about losing pieces of our bullpen. Duque, Viz, and Marte were our three worst pitchers BY FAR last season (that were on the roster throughout the season). I'm thrilled that they're all gone. Relievers are very inconsistent, and there's no way to predict how they'll be from one year to the next. You know what the best solution to a potentially weak bullpen is? That's right, have a great starting pitching staff. The only criticism that I'll have for KW is if he trades Garland, and doesn't receive high value for him. KW has given up some valuable pieces this offseason (Young and Gio) in order to acquire talent. KW has got to make sure that he doesn't negate Garland's potentially trade value just cause he knows he can't resign him So in closing....enjoy the fact the White Sox won the World Series. Enjoy the fact that KW is making some moves to acquire talented players. This is a hell of a lot better than a few years ago when we were acquiring the likes of Royce Clayton and Todd Ritchie.

Garland For......
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) How about Jon Garland to the Cardinals for P Adam Wainwright and an up and coming MR in the Cards organization. Wainwright has had injury issues, and he's not the super prospect he once was.

Angels & Sox looking at Crawford
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:21 AM) What it say? It said how Tracey is a possibility for the bullpen openings, as he liked the idea more after seeing the success Jenks had in the majors.

Crede and Garland to Texas?
QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) Who else do they have for 3B? I just don't see how they would give up Wilkerson though, who was the prize player in the Soriano trade. Also, there are numerous reports that the new Rangers GM asks for the moon in his trades.
