  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) I hope they try something different against Santana next week. Santana's ERA against the Sox his last 7 starts is less than 1.00. Here's the thing.....this is the type of game where Pods should have been starting. Just as I got mad for Ozzie keeping Pods in for a situation where you needed someone up who can drive runners in, you need someone starting in a game against Santana that can try to get on and create a run somehow.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Tomorrow will be the big game. Need a 3.5 lead going into the Indian series. If we can take 2 of 3 there, we'll be alright for the season. Absolutely. Not only would it be nice to have a big enough lead that if we get swept, we're still in the lead. But also, it would be nice to have a big enough lead that if we win 2 out of 3 vs Cleveland, we can be in the driver's seat again. Good stuff today
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) So out of Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, and Garcia, which pitcher do you pull out of the 4 man rotation that we'll probably use in the playoffs to insert McCarthy? McCarthy won't start in the playoffs. If you think he will, you obviously don't know Ozzie.
  4. QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Fathom: I agree with you. Sit Duque and let BMAC take his place. There is no way in the world I will start Duque in the playoff. Perhaps, BMAC can be Beckett version for the White Sox! Duque starts another game, and we won't be making the playoffs. The guy has had plenty of chances, and he's blown them all. His ERA is 5.24!!
  5. Defense mechanism- Any of various usually unconscious mental processes, including denial, projection, rationalization, and repression, that protect the ego from shame, anxiety, conflict, loss of self-esteem, or other unacceptable feelings or thoughts.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) will somebody please start a poll to see who will win the division...SOX or Indians...right now i really believe it is going to be a tie at the end of the year & of course we lost the coin flip so we play the tiebreaker in Cleveland. The way this year has gone the loser of that game will miss the playoffs & the NY Boston WC will get in. Don't worry, we'll have Duque ready to go for the tiebreak game!
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) There were no blisters. I still want to know if Santana is so amazing, how did the Indians beat him?
  8. If McCarthy comes in and shuts down the Twins for 3 innings, Ozzie's going to have some amazing quotes to the press I have a feeling.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Last night sure was big! No s***. It would sure be nice if the Indians or Yankees lost today.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) BMac is in. Nothing like letting the Twins get a look at him for a few innings before he likely starts vs them next week.
  11. Can we change the title of this thread to "Sit Down El Duque"
  12. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Wow. It sounds bad, but this is almost comical to me. Everyone in the free world knew what was going to happen with Duque starting today against Johan.....except Ozzie. We've won 89 games in spite of who we call our manager. If you listened to sports radio the past few days, there wasn't one "baseball expert" who had anything good to say about Ozzie. My only hope is that if we do miss the playoffs, he'll be criticized so much that JR has no choice but to fire him.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Well I wasn't talking about that. You were talking about replacing him in the game, and I said pitching Bmac woudln't be a waste if he was to start next time in El Duque's place. That's a good point, but we still have no clue if Ozzie will let Duque start again. Also, if you don't pitch McCarthy, then the Twins won't get a chance to see him before they face him next week. That could be a lot more important than some f***ing mop-up innings.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) If there's any justice in our clubhouse, El Duque will have just cost himself the rest of his starts this year and any chance at being on a playoff roster. If he starts another game, you're going to have a lot of people who lose any respect they might still have for Ozzie in that clubhouse. Those players want to win more than any of us, and they know that Duque isn't one of the 5 best options to start.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) To be honest with you, I'm glad he started today. They aren't going to beat Santana with any of their starters, so why waste a potential good start, and El Duque showed he should not be on the mound the rest of his life. I doubt even Ozzie could defend him now. Like I said a few minutes ago, if we were going to lose today, it was a lot better that it was cause Duque did awful than to lose a heart breaking 1-0 game.
  16. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) another k for santana, his 8th. Considering we almost have no chance to win, I hope he K's 21 and pitches a perfect game.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) He should of started this game, but our fearless leader forgot the part in his bulls*** press conference when he got hired about playing the game the right way. If 100+ pitches through 3.2 innings giving up 4 runs giving up 8 or more hits is playing the game the right way, then he should of managed the f***ing royals. they play like that all the time. This team hasn't played the game right since August 1st.
  18. There's going to be a ton of Ozzie bashing around baseball and the radio today. The decision to start Duque today was worse than Manuel's decision to start Cotts against the Yankees. At least some people thought Cotts had a chance to succeed that game.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Well if Bmac is starting the next game why is that a waste. Gives him time to get some work in today before he starts in 5 days. Because we have no clue if he will really start for Duque next time. Dusty Guillen could very well say he wants Duque's leadership during the stretch run.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Huge understatement. He must be the easiest pitcher to steal off of in baseball. No, that would be Contreras
  21. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) But oz wants to respect his players. I think ozzie lost respect of his players quite a while ago.
  22. Duque has just supplanted Timo as my least favorite Sox player ever!
  23. 11 recorded out, 12 base runners for Duque. On the bright side, at least his start has been so pathetic that hopefully Ozzie will look past all of Duque's "attributes", and realize that he shouldn't be close to the mound again.
