  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) Frank lost me when he said that he wouldn't have taken part in the parade or the first-pitch ceremony if he knew he wasn't being brought back. Right there he showed it was more about "me" than "we". Exactly, that was the statement which made me think was a totally asshole. It's almost amazing that a professional would say such a selfish statement like that.
  2. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Roberto Alomar and Miguel Olivo left on awful terms. Don't you remember Alomar pretty much calling KW a liar. Olivo cried when he was traded.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) I truly believe things would be different had they sat Frank down and told them what their plans were. You'd think with all the money these guys make, they'd be able to afford phones so they could call each other?
  4. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) Never even implied that. The question was could there possibly be any truth, even a little, to what Frank is saying. And props to Konerko for taking a few less million to stay with the Sox. But let's be honest, it's not like he made some monumental sacrafice. And if the Sox hadn't went 5 years, something they didn't want to do, we would be talking about Konerko and how he makes the Angels the team to beat. This stuff happens with every organization. Did people really expect a pleasant "break-up" with Thomas? The guy has rarely said the right thing in the media. It's funny how a few years ago, there were arguments about who's the bigger asshole, Frank or Sammy Sosa. One guy was a steroid using ass, and the other is a non-steroid using ass. The sooner this nonsense blows over, the better it will be for the Sox.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) But is Frank lying, though? We know what happened with Maggs last year. Ventura didn't leave on the best of terms. Ozzie even admitted he was pissed off at the way he left. Again, Frank should keep quiet. But is there any truth to what he's saying? Yep, our organization is so s***ty that Paul Konerko turned down more money and a better location in order to stay with the Sox.
  6. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) i agree. I think Kenny has done a fine job as a GM however he needs to shut up. Frank didn't say anything that was that bad to be honest. It was nowhere close to what Magglio said last year. Frank came across as one thing in particular....an IDIOT! And that's exactly what KW said he was acting like.
  7. Kenny did more to win us a World Series than Frank ever did. Frank's whiny attitude and b****ing won't be missed. I won't shed a tear if he doesn't hit another homer in his career.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Last year I finally thought Frank has turned the corner on this crap but he just hasn't, he's starting to whine again and it really has become ridiculous. I don't like how this stuff is obviously going to become the story following around the team but Kenny has taken the high road long enough on this stuff, enough is enough at some point. As much as Frank has meant to the organization Kenny means more now, and I mean that. Well said. I think it's obvious Frank tried to say all the right things last year so that he would be brought back. However, ever since he signed with another team, he's acting like someone who's been dumped by their girlfriend. I don't know if Thome will do better than Thomas will this season, but I can guarantee he'll be 100 times a better teammate than Frank ever was.
  9. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) fatass? 6 months ago he was god around here? Am I the only Frank Thomas fan left? Well, I was the one who said he was selfish, and was ridiculed for that.
  10. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) it wasn't even close to being as bad as what KW said. Frank never called JR an idiot. Never. He just said he was upset how it ended and you know what I agree with him. Do I think he should of opened his mouth like that. No i don't but I think he has a right to be upset after the way Kenny treated him this off season. Kenny never checked out his health or made any real effort to try and get something done with Frank. Look at through Frank's perspective. Frank's acting like a whiny little b****. I wish KW would have acted more professional, and just kept his mouth shut. However, it's no secret to those within the organization that very few people liked Frank Thomas. Also, I'm not so sure there's going to be a reconciliation any time soon.
  11. I'm actually happy Frank didn't play during the playoffs, or else I'm sure he'd be taking credit for that also.
  12. Wow, I wouldn't get upset at Broadway for this. Remember, the ball flies out of the park in Arizona, and it was an opposite field dingers. Man, I thought I was pessimistic.
  13. QUOTE(Adam G @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) I dont think anyone ever doubted his power. Show me you can hit .280, Joe. I'd rather he put up big power numbers and bat .250 than to see him hit .280, and not hit for power. With his swing/approach, he's never going to hit for a high average.
  14. I really, really hope Redding doesn't make this team. I've seen him pitch a lot with the Astros, and he is bad. His stuff is below average, and I don't see much upside for him in the bullpen.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 05:25 AM) Grieve can hit a little bit... And, quick, Grieve's a lefty, I believe. Throws righty, hits left. Grieve's bat speed is very slow now, and the only positive he brings is that he can draw a lot of walks (cause he never swings).
  16. QUOTE(quickman @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:35 AM) Which part Rock? Gload is horrible in the outfield and the sox really don't need to carry 3 first baseman. Quite frankly I do not understand why people are enamored with this guy. He is not needed on this team. I really don't understand Ozzie saying that he is on the team right now. Completely senseless. What message is that sending to the others? I personally think with a good spring Ben grieve makes this team. I am not a fan of Grieve but in my opinion he is the same guy as gload but better in the outfield. ( I know he bats right handed) He was brought in for a reason, and it was not to push Borchard, who will be gone by the end of spring training. If Grieve has a lousy spring than maybe Gload stays but its just not a match. Grieve is better in the outfield? HE'S SLOWER THAN PAUL KONERKO! Ben Grieve is not a good player, and Borchard would fit this team's needs much better.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 05:53 AM) He won't end up at Illinois as long as his brother is running the show, no chance in hell. I had bad feelings about that since I read it 6 weeks ago, seeing as his brother is a failed athlete trying to live through his brother. This isn't going in a good direction at all. I just read the whole Rose thread on the illiniboard, and here's the problem I have with these accusations.....say Rose does end up going to Illinois. Does this mean that Weber paid him to go there? From my experience working around collegiate athletic departments, all major programs are dirty.
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 07:05 AM) I would not count on that...i know his family well, his mom said her boy is getting a degree. Ah, not to turn this into a pissing contest, but I have close friends who've known Julian since he was a freshman in high school. Julian will go to the NBA as soon as he's a guaranteed lottery pick. He considered jumping straight to the pros out of high school, but the consensus was he wouldn't be a first round pick. I'll be happy to share who I know in a PM if you'd like. BTW, I'd love to see Julian, Rush, and Chalmers stay around next year. They're a terrific trio.
  19. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 06:26 AM) My Webpage Julian Wright is so damn good. I could never imagine the Jayhawks could be ranked higher than Illini going into the tourney, barring an impossible victory in Austin. Julian could very well be a missing link for the Illini this year. They could really use a high energy creator. Rather, they just have Dee floating on the outside with his poor point guard skills. As a matter of fact, Kansas fans better hope Julian cools down a little. If he keeps up this level of play, some team might promise him a lottery selection this year.
  20. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) We can have a nice NIT battle going here with IU fans, myself a TTU fan, SIU fans etc. Yipee. My Yellow Jackets aren't even going to make the tournament. We'll be a force next year though.
  21. The one worry I have with Jenks is his elbow. Every once in a while, someone will run into a heater of his, and hit a long, long homer. At least he'll have a competent centerfielder when he's pitching this season. Rowand was solid on defense last year, but he absolutely sucked when Jenks was on the mound.
  22. Where's the Red Sox public relations specialist to spin this?
  23. Chris Quinn is the NBA equivalent of Kirk Hinrich. By that, I mean they couldn't hit a clutch shot to save their life.
  24. The announcer in the ND/UCONN game just goes "I like the gay penetration". That's much worse than when DJ said that Pods wears rubbers (spikes) so he can dig deeper in the dirt.
  25. Horton was the man tonight, and proved to me he's the top point guard in the Big 10. I don't understand why Illinois stopped going to Augie down low.
