  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Hence why mlbtraderumors.com is a worthless site. The guy uses fanboards as his source for rumors. Half the stuff we come up with here are "wishes". Imagine if this guy comes here in late June/July when chaveztalk starts up again. June/July? I'm expecting it after opening night if Crede goes 0-4.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) see payroll from 2005 vs Payroll 2006 or you could look at attendance from both seasons for comparison as well. Rock...this is getting scary. We're typing like the same thing at the same time.
  3. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) "Bajenaru was in the running to earn a spot on the White Sox as a middle reliever, but getting Cintron for him looks like a good move. Still, it's interesting to see that the team that was so hesitant to give Tadahito Iguchi even $2.5 million per season a year ago is going to pay $1.6 million for a rather average backup." To me, this is a stupid statement. The whole franchise has changed since last year's offseason. We're talking about an entire new budget we're dealing with. It doesn't matter, rotoworld always has something bad to say about KW.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Why are we talking about Alex Gonzalez anyways, hes on a different team..I do not feel like reading this entire thing? You might want to. I've been called some terrific names in this thread. Maybe I should put them in my signature?
  5. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) I like the trade aswell. I just don't think its a fleecing, which has been my stance from the start. Question....if you thought less of Baj, would you think it was a better trade? Is one of the reasons you don't like it is cause they got rid of him? BTW, I'm eagerly awaiting the sight of Baj pitching in Colorado. Best of luck to him though, I really mean it.
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) 1.6 for someone of Cintron's caliber isn't cheap.. at all. It's not cheap, but it's not overly expensive. There's a lot of other crappier players making more money than that. I was unhappy that Timo was making a million last year, but that's just part of the baseball landscape. Cintron isn't great AT ALL, but he's much more valuable than Willie Harris was.
  7. For what Boston already has on their roster, the Gonzalez addition is fine. He's a much better fielder than Cintron, no question about it. What frustrated myself, and others I believe, is that you came on here acting like Cintron was this old veteran who's awful and paid a fortune. If the White Sox acquired him to start on the infield, then that would have been a bad deal. However, as a reserve, Cintron is definitely a solid player.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Why is Cintron making $1.6 million considered hefty, but the Red Sox signing a guy with a .319 obp last year, who dipped to 5 homers from 23, perhaps from a lack of special vitamins for $3 million a solid signing? Guys like Gonzalez are going to soon make ticket prices at Fenway even more ridiculous than they are now. Wow, I didn't know he went from 23 to 5 homers last year. I always thought he was a potential juicer.
  9. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) I hate seeing Baj, a favorite of mine, leave this organization. Why though? He might be a great guy, but he's shown nothing at the big league level, and obviously wasn't in Ozzie's plans. There's been a lot of great guys who just never made it with the Sox.....like Jose Paniagua.
  10. I'll say this rnw....I love the Crisp signing for the Red Sox, as I think he's going to keep on getting better. He's a tough out, and seems like a great clubhouse guy. However, I feel the exact opposite about Gonzalez. He has a horrific attitude, and I'm not sure how he'll respond to the Fenway crowd.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) My purpose on soxtalk is to talk White Sox baseball and shoot the s*** with other respectable people. You aren't a respectable person, so you don't fall into this category. Thanks! If you think Manny is a great guy, then this makes me feel better about myself.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) I am perplexed at how quick the team dumped Munoz. It's simple...Ozzie's never been a fan of Baj and Munoz. Thus....they gone.
  13. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) What are we arguing about? I'm still not even sure. You're the one who started it, so please inform me on what this argument is you're finishing. The whole argument we had about why you're on this White Sox site, and how we all feel you're purpose on here is to be the Red Sox apologist. Anyways, there's more important things for my fellow White Sox fans to focus on now. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITHOUT BAJ!!!
  14. Redandwhite......I'm done with this argument. Good luck to your beloved Red Sox this year. I hope we can face them in the playoffs again.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) I posted from school, I got home from school to read the responses. I have a life to lead. I can't sit on this damn website all day and night and respond exactly when posts are made. I never mentioned anything in regards to the Red Sox. Once again, you and fathom are the perpetrators in this instance. All I'm saying is that what is a Red Sox apologist/homer doing on a White Sox message board? Trust me....we don't give a flying f*** about the Red Sox. If I have to hear one more time about how great of a guy Manny is, I think I might have to marry him.
  16. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) Get in touch with reality? Perhaps thats what I was hinting at when I told those people to calm down and to realize that this is a very mediocre player who makes a very hefty amount? As a reserve player, Cintron isn't a very mediocre player. And since we're not paying his salary, who cares if KW, JR, etc. feel like 1.6 million isn't too much for a bench player?
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) Trust me. Your ignorant comments and closed minded view on everything related to baseball is the only thing that pisses people off. I just took your moronic quotes out of my signature a day too late it seems, as here you are again being the same old person. Do yourself a favor, stick to sonofsamhorn.com. Rock...who would have ever imagined that someone would categorize you and me as teaming up on them?
  18. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Please, if you can't talk baseball in a constructive manner, don't talk to me. Go on being your unreasonable, selfish, arrogant, ignorant self and piss everybody else off. Wow. How can someone be selfish on a message board? Also, for someone that "pisses everybody off", I sure have a lot of people that enjoy talking with me in PM, etc.
  19. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Are you out of your mind? Not one reference to the Red Sox and you come in with this bulls***. You are an absolute f***ing joke. It's hard to fathom how dumb you look with this post here. The fact of the matter is alot of people were calling this deal a fleecing and that the White Sox will now trade Iguchi/Contreras for Pujols. Anyone saying we were going to now trade Iguchi and Contreras needs to stop playing XBox baseball, and get in touch with reality. Also, if my post was so stupid, then how come not a SINGLE poster on this board stated that they disagreed with what I said.
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) It's easy to see why Fathom has as many posts as he has. Your better off talking to a brick wall than you are to that kid. Wow, it's comical to see someone calling you a kid when you were born a decade before them. The funny thing redandwhite is that you used to act like you were a Red Sox and White Sox fan. Now, you're just a Red Sox apologist.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) His curveball is supposedly a plus pitch though. Its all about location, and then using that pitch to offset his fastball. Exactly. However, when he doesn't have command of his fastball, he's going to have problems. It's way too early to write him off.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Really? Then all the stuff I've read about him is a lie. That's what I've heard from the Baseball America people
  23. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) His fastball is usually around 90-92. Atleast that's what I hear. He's supposed to have a really good curveball as well. I wouldn't get too exicted over this performance. He's obviously not ready for major league hitters. His fastball's in the 87-88 range typically.
  24. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) Is this Broadway's usual stuff? If it is, he was a wasted pick. He is going to get killed in the majors with that stuff. a righty can't get by with an 88 mph fastball in the majors, unless he changes speeds a lot and has really good junk.(breaking balls, changeup) I haven't seen any junk, so maybe he was picked for trade bait. Kenny, what intrigued you about this guy that made you pick him in the first round? He looks like a AAAA guy to me. Basically, he happened to pitch great towards the end of his season against top collegiate teams, and it boosted his stock big time.
  25. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) By the way, Broadway was throwing mainly 87-88 MPH. In his own words, he said he likes to "backdoor guys".
