  1. QUOTE(Clarkdog @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Sorry, I may not have been clear. I certainly don't believe that KW signed Rowand simply so he could trade him in 2005. But the length and size of his contract give KW some flexibility to move him in 2006 or 2007 if he wanted to and get something of value in return. With his age and his 2004 season, I firmly believe KW thought he had his center fielder for the next 4 years.
  2. 3-1 Red Sox in the 6th. Ortiz has 142 RBI, and Manny has 136.
  3. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) Give Carl a few days off to try and get him back on track Carl Everett is not bigger than this team. I don't understand the philosophy that a lot of people have that this team needs Carl Everett. There's one integral part of our offense, and it's Paul Konerko.
  4. Things Carl Everett doesn't believe in: - dinosaurs - homosexuals - demotions - line drives
  5. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) The lineup I like against righties now would have Gload at 1B and PK DHing. Gload is another lefthanded bat in the lineup, plays the field well, and can give PK a day or two off in the field. Thoughts? If Gload isn't getting playing time against a righty, he's not going to be in there against a lefty. Like it or not, Gload's in the doghouse.
  6. 2-1 Boston in the top of the 5th. The Blue Jays lineup resembles the Twins lineup we faced on Sunday.
  7. What's the harm in using the following lineup for tonight: - Pods DH - Iguchi - Rowand - PK - Dye - Crede - Widger (he's done a great job catching McCarthy) - Anderson LF - Uribe
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Which is exactly the reason that Aaron shouldn't be batting #2 or #3 in this line up. He can't bunt to save his life, and his power numbers are way down. He needs to be #6ish in the line up. Against a lefty, I have no problem with Rowand batting 3rd. He should have been there all season. Against a righty, Rowand should be batting 7th. What I don't understand is why we don't use more hit-and-runs with Rowand at the plate. The more you make him focus on staying on the pitch, the better he'll be. I listed to the postgame show last night, and people were just irate that Ozzie keeps asking him to bunt. Bill Melton was very, very critical of things last night.
  9. 2-0 Red Sox in the bottom of the 3rd.
  10. Remember when Everett was hitting over .300 against lefties? Well, that number is down to .263 with a .715 OPS. Why do we keep insisting that we need him for the playoffs? If he keeps staying in the lineup, there might not be a playoff game to be played. He's had plenty of chances to get out of this slump, and he continues to fail.
  11. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Everett is hitting .145 (11-for-76) in his last 21 games. :headshake And that .145 is softer than Jim Parque's change-up.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Carl needs a day off. If not a couple. Hopefully either he'll pull it together tonight or the break will help. He can be real useful in the playoffs...just not as a strikeout victim. He needed a few days off 3 weeks ago. Keeping him in the lineup EVERY DAY has done nothing but put this offense in a hole. Considering we have quite a few guys who are struggling (Rowand, Uribe, AJP), we can't afford to keep him in the lineup.
  13. I'll take Cotts out of the bullpen in a heartbeat over Buehrle. A lot of the time, you need that lefty to come in and strike out a batter. Cotts is much more likely to K someone.
  14. It would force KW to swallow some pride, but trading Pods could be a great idea for the Sox this offseason. I completely agree with everyone who says we can't have both him and Rowand in the outfield. Since Rowand's defense is vastly superior, and he plays a more premium position, there's no doubt Pods should be a trade possibility.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) no. now is the time of the year to start killing em....i have been using this offshore book for about 6 years now.... www.sportingbetusa.com For the next few days, I would do a 4 team parlay with the Sox to lose, and the other three teams to win.
  16. 2-0 Red Sox in the 2nd. Do these teams ever lose?
  17. The Red Sox look to be jumping all over the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays have a pretty weak lineup for the first game also. One more Red Sox and Yankees lose before this weekend would be HUGE.
  18. I just hope that if McCarthy doesn't have a superhuman game, that people don't start bashing him. He's been pitching tremendous lately, but it's not realistic to expect another 7-0 or 8-1 out of him. We need to start scoring 5 runs each game.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) How has Kazmir been pitching lately? I haven't paid much attention to him since the early part of the season. He had one great start vs the Indians, and one horrific start. Tonight is the best chance the DRays have for a win.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) One quick thing, the White Sox have a problem of winning. Then they don't deserve to make the playoffs.
  21. Here's the beauty about this last week: all four teams involved in the race control their own destiny. If they win, they're in the playoffs. Lose, and they're likely out.
  22. The players are pressing in RISP situations over the last few weeks. And as much as jphat might want you to believe, our hitters aren't even coming close to getting the big hit in the situations you mentioned. A ton of strikeouts or weak pop ups.
  23. I can guarantee you that KW had no intention of trading Rowand for the length of his deal heading into this season.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Yet KW was still vilified for the lack of a move. For the lack of an offensive move. I don't think it would be right at all, but KW will be the scapegoat if this team doesn't make the playoffs.
  25. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) I thought yesterday was going to be a sure victory. The scary thing is that with the Sox offense, there's no guarantee that they'll win a game the rest of the year. They're not like the Yanks or Red Sox where they can just go blow the other team out in the first few innings on a weekly basis. Games like Saturday night are more like a monthly occurence for the Sox.
