QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) My question is,and something that might have to be looked into, did this team quit on Ozzie? I blame Ozzie for a lot, but I don't think that this team quit on him. I think we overachieved/got lucky so much early in the year, that we just tried to coast into the playoffs. As I've said thousands of times on here, this team isn't good enough to take the foot off of the accelerator, and expect to stay at a top pace. I've nitpicked so much this year, but it really boils down to this team either getting a pair and beating the Indians this year, or they won't be going to the playoffs. Either way, life goes on for all of us, and that was an epiphany I had after last night's game which really put things into perspective.

Prediction: KW will be the scapegoat if we choke, and Ozzie will stay as the manager as Steve Stone is brought in to be GM
-
This is going to get ugly. Hell yes, he would deserve to get fired. Will he? f*** no!

What did PK do to end the game? Also, what was Hawk's reaction at the end of the game? Ozzie...please move PK back to the 4th spot in the lineup. He's been brutal after being on an absolute tear. -

Pods is so overrated, it's not even funny. Oh well, keep up hope. The season's not over. -

I'm going to blame the damn gas prices for our collapse. Nearly every pitcher on the Sox has nothing left in the tank, yet we've been unable to refill them. -

I'm not watching the game, but I bet Ozzie regrets leaving Viz in to die before. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) And here I am, looking at the standings and seeing the White Sox still with the best record in the AL. I'm also looking at the "previous 10 games" and noticing that they are 5-5, just like Boston. I notice that the Indians are what, 8-2? Who gives a s*** about Boston right now. We also had a 7 game winning streak, and have since lost 6 out of 7. -

Unlike past years when we had to rely on the Twins losing down the stretch to make the playoffs, the fate of the Sox rest in their own hands. I know that Ozzie and Cooper keep saying they're going to stick with the players that have got them here. Well boys, some of these veterans are responsible for the Sox massive slump. Play the guys who have the best chance to help the Sox win, and leave the egos at the f***ing door. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) They appear to be giving up on themselves and have for some time. Fine, then they don't deserve to make the playoffs and deserve to be the laughing stock of baseball for a while. Don't worry, no one in the media really cares about the White Sox. If this was the Cubs, it would be at the top of every newscast. I've said this all along: if the Sox don't make the playoffs, they have no one to blame but themselves. -

QUOTE(Linnwood @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS TEAM?! See my full organizational collapse post from a few days ago (you can add the collapse of Hermanson to the list, as well as the continuing awfulness that is Joey Cora). -

I'm as negative as it gets, but anyone giving up on this team with a 4.5 game lead is an f'n pussy. If it makes you feel better, fine. However, to give up on them is ridiculous. -

I've been staying away from this gt all day, but did Uribe have a play on the guy going to 3rd base there? Help us out for those that can't watch this amazing game. -

Here's the only thing I have to say in regards to this game today Also, no Iguchi in today's lineup. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) s***, we beat him earlier this season, and we will beat him again. We did? Last time I checked, we're 0-3 against him.

Here's the solution: WIN!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) For 10 games, sure. But they aren't an .800 caliber team in the playoffs. Their picthing won't hold up, IMHO. Why not, their starters are just as good as ours. Millwood, C.C., and Lee over the last few months have been a hell of a lot better than any 3 starting pitchers you put together on the Sox. They have a great bullpen also. Here's the big difference between the Sox and Indians now: The Indians trail late in a game, and they have all the confidence in the world they can win the game. Whenever the Sox get up by like 4 runs now, it just seems like they're letting the other team get right back into the game.

Sadly, the White Sox still have not won a game after trailing a game by two runs since the end of July. Pretty funny when you think about how the Sox were in control of this game, despite the awful start by Garcia. -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 05:02 AM) One other thing. In case no one noticed, the slipping lead is mostly due to Cleveland's stellar play, not our downfall. That team was well under .500 for a while, and hovering around it until fairly recently. Cleveland will not keep playing .800 ball. They are good, but not that good. People have been saying this for over a month now. If we don't take care of them, it's hard to have a lot of faith in KC and Tampa for giving us any help. It's real simple now...if we don't win at least 2 games out of the 6 against the Indians, we're in deep s***!

I just hope that Dye isn't the scapegoat, and that Ozzie will keep him in the lineup. Go with our 9 person core, and let them dictate how their season goes from tonight. -
I have no problem with Hermanson tonight. He deserved the chance, as he's been stellar. However, he clearly doesn't have much left. It's time for Jenks to become the full time closer. However, this will weaken our bullpen even more.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:01 AM) Podsednik is bad at defense? News to me. He is so fast he can get to everything in the field. Podsednik is a bad base stealer and bad on the base paths period? Liar! You are just a podsednik hater! Is this sarcasm about his defense?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:57 AM) I noticed 1 thing in your post there...you called the Indians a "Superior" team, despite the fact that we've beaten up on the Indians a lot this year. That says something. I think the fact is that if we lose tomorrow, not only will we all be in panic mode, either the Sox themselves will have to be in panic mode, or they simply won't care at all. Either way, it would be a very bad sign. Yes, I've made no secret of the fact that I think the Indians are a better team than the White Sox. We dominated them when their talent was underachieving, and ours was overachieving. Now, if we go play them good to end the season, we'll make the playoffs.
