QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) this was supposed to be the season that i would tell my grandkids about. now it looks like that conversation will start out with, "forget 1969, forget the 2004 ALCS, the biggest chokejob in MLB history was the 2005 chicago whitesox....." Back away from the ledge! This team has had a great run this year, but it was never a once in a lifetime team. You'll see better teams on the south side in the next 5 years.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) Yankees play Balty at home tomorrow, three at home at Toronto, four at Balty and three at Boston Baltimore is f***ing awful now, and they just lost Roberts. It wouldn't shock me if they lose their last 8 games against the Yanks this year.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Ozzie built this team to his liking, and no one expected them to be that good in the first half of the year. I didnt get my hopes up, which is why when they play .500 ball, I dont get upset and blame Ozzie for everything. And yea, I do think Ozzie should get some blame for this letdown, but come on. Its not his fault the players dont execute. FWIW, I was blaming Ozzie well before the .500 stretch. A lot of us saw that he was making a lot of foolish decisions during the games, and we had to seemingly win despite our manager. Yes, I don't blame Ozzie completely for this potential collapse. However, I feel like he has let this team down in the last month or so when they needed him the most. When you're not playing great as a team, you need to put the team in the best chance to succeed.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Judy got f***ed nibbling on the corners on 2 strikes, and walking people. Much like the other big three pitchers we have had go this week. You have to be able to strikeout top hitting teams. You can make a lot of good pitches to them, but they'll foul them off. I don't blame Garland though...he gave us a chance to win tonight. Bad offense and a very late hook cost him big time.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) TB 7 BOS 4 Final we will be 3 ahead of BOS for the wildcard! I'm pretty sure it's higher than that.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Alot of people have got.. not sure of the word, but "too used" to winning games, and when the Sox lose anything, the finger is pointed at Ozzie, even if it isnt his fault. Im not pissed at Ozzie because I realize that the White Sox have 91 wins, something only 1 other team in baseball has, and the reason they have 91 wins? Ozzie Guillen. If you're going to give Ozzie all the praise for 91 wins, then you have to give him all the blame for potentially blowing a 15 game lead on August 1st.

another reason to feel confident...
I'm not going to be confident until the magic number says zero. This team has proven one thing to me all year: you never know what's going to happen.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) The lead is 2.5. We play 2 crappy teams, then Cleveland. If they gain a game a series (really a game 1/2 in one) they would only tie us. So if they want to win the division they pretty much avhe to win 6 out of 7, then at least 2/3./ I think the Indians will lose 3 more games, at the most, this season. They're just on a sensational run. It was obvious this series that their offense is just so much more focused at the plate than the Sox. I'm just grateful we won last night.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) Ozzie will be bashed anytime the Sox lose. Agreed. I think a lot of people have finally been pushed over the ledge when it comes to stop supporting him.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) My good man Ozzie. WTF was that. So we bring in Marte with a one run lead to face Hafner, but don't have the confidence in him when we're down 2? I'm not saying it's the worst decision Ozzie has made this series, but I have a feeling he's going to get bashed for letting Garland face Hafner.

This is in no way a reaction to what just happened, but I'm fairly confident the Indians will win the AL Central due to their easy schedule. They're playing at such a high level now. The Wild Card is a much more likely scenario, IMO.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) if tampa wins that puts the Yankees ahead by .5 in the East, right? and it would reduce our magic number for the wildcard to 8 Don't forget this...either the Red Sox or Yanks are guaranteed to lose another 2 games this season.

These Indians hitters do a very good job at not getting themselves out.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) If we can win both the next series, I think we'll win the division and be a shoe-in for the playoffs. To win both series, we'd have to go 6-2. Considering we face Johan tomorrow, I'll be content with 5-3.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) Boston now losing. WC lead could be 3.5 From what I was told by someone, the magic number vs the Yanks and Red Sox was the same for the Sox coming into tonight.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) We've had 3 innings where we could have had big innings, but we just hit the ball right at people. That's how you have a shutout. It's not like they're not trying hard. I know we're complete opposites in terms of how we look at things, but I think you're going to have a hard time convincing people we hit into a lot of bad luck tonight. Yes, there's been some hard hit balls that were caught. However, if you only hit like 5 balls solid all night, you're going to struggle.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) If the offense pisses away that momentum I might just have to pound the hell out of something with my other hand Don't break a hand, break a finger. With a little over 10 games left in the season, you're going to need everyone one of those fingers.
