  1. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Trust me, you do not have to convince me about Neifi. See my earlier post where I said I would take Neifi over Uribe on our team right now. Uribe is a joke with his pitch selection. I do not even know why major league pitchers bother throwing a strike to him (or Cruddy). Just throw it low and out of the zone, and they will bend over swinging at everything There's no comparision between Neifi and Uribe now. Neifi has made himself into one of the tougher outs in baseball this year. He goes with the pitch in crucial situations, resulting in some very clutch hits for the Cubs.
  2. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) He has said a 100 times that he hates the Cubs and he started this thread purely to discuss baseball objectively. Good lord, did you miss the part where I said I had only read the last 2 pages?
  3. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) You guys are hilarious. I don't know how many times I have to keep saying I'm not a cubs fan. For the record, I just started reading the thread like 2 pages ago. If you're not a Cubs fan, I apologize for making a statement which made it look like that's what I thought.
  4. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) I'm still not sure how you guys are totally discounting a team who has suddenly compiled the 4th best record in the NL without their two frontline pitchers and their starting shortstop I hate the Cubs more than anyone, but who the f*** cares about what people on soxtalk think about them? I could care less about their injuries, especially Wood and Noballs Garciaparra. They're better off with Neifi at SS anyways.
  5. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Doesn't change the fact that they took 3/4 from one of the better NL teams on the road, even WITH replacements. If the Sox went 6/7 on any west coast road trip against ANYONE, some of you guys would been printing WS tickets right after the trip. Just like how I'm sure Cubs fans will start printing out their WS tickets also.
  6. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Is this the same Mariotti who said that the Sox weren't beating anyone over .500? What? I was just pointing out that they won a series against the Padres when the Padres were nowhere close to 100 percent. Because the baseball world makes it seem like the Cubs are the only team with any injuries, I find it funny that they've been in a ton of games lately where the starting pitcher they were supposed to face didn't pitch that game, and they faced weaker replacements.
  7. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Cubs just won the series 3-1 against the Padres. In case some of you here did not know Yep, and beat the great pitches of Tim Stauffer, D. May, and Woody Williams. Padres are also a team that is battling a lot of health problems with the flu. It was a pathetic hitting performance by the Padres this weekend though.
  8. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) this was most definitely a team loss. Yep.....but our bullpen is just in shambles right now. Who do we have that we can count on out there? Politte? Ozzie seems hesitant to use him anyways.
  9. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) its ozzies fault, its martes falut, its credes fault, its hermansons fault, its widgers fault, its rowands fault... whhhhaaaaa If you lose a game, is it not the fault of a player or manager?
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Thanks a lot Damaso, you cost us this game. At least Marte made Hafner beat him. Hermanson basically handed 2 runs to the Indians.
  11. See what happens when you bunt in a tight game Ozzie? You make the defense make a play. No excuse to not be bunting in the 8th inning earlier.
  12. We need bullpen help fast. Hermanson has now allowed runs in 3 of his last 4 appearances, and doesn't look sharp at all. You can't have a bullpen where only one or two guys are reliable to retire a single batter.
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) are you kidding me? there are times to blame the manager and this isn't one. Marte missed his spot. Marte should have never been throwing fastballs in that situation. Absolutely no excuse, especially with 2 outs.
  14. This is what happens when you play for the homer. One pitch to the other team, and you're in bad shape.
  15. Marte throwing fastballs to the best fastball hitter in the AL last season. f***ing brilliant.
  16. QUOTE(Fotop @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Bleh all this goofing around on the basepaths. Ozzie should just let Iguchi hit up there. Then he won't have to worry about protecting the runner. I was all for Ozuna trying to steal a base, but not with 2 strikes. One thing I've noticed about Iguchi is that he struggles making contact with the ball when he's trying to protect the runner. When Pods steals in front of him, Iguchi swings through the ball a lot. Ozuna should have been running earlier in the count (more like Pods should have been in the game running for him).
  17. Ozzie seems to be playing for the game winning homer now.
  18. Will someone please tell Ozzie that he has the MLB leader in stolen bases on his bench?
  19. Our lack of having a back-up 1b hurt us a lot in the 8th inning. We were in a great situation to have Pods run for PK, and let Willie bunt him over after seeing if Pods could steal 3rd. Rather, Ozzie tried to play for the homer.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Ozuna is an awful lead-off hitter. He doesn't look at enough pitches. You can get rid of lead-off there, and just say awful hitter. We should be thrilled with the offense he gave us early on, as he was finding new ways to get on base nearly every game (bunts, high choppers, hbp, etc).
  21. What is Ozuna doing? If you're going to bunt, dont give it away the pitch before. How did he ever hit for such a high average in spring training?
  22. Buehrle gives up 2 straight 2 outs hits to the worst hitters against lhp in the AL.
  23. We're absolutely awful with bases loaded this season. Too many players trying for the grand slam instead of the 2 RBI single.
  24. We're back to trying to pull everything against C.C. Also, Ozuna's not letting me down with his hitting so far today.....he's just a machine at hitting grounders.
  25. I still want to see Rowand batting 3rd against lefties. He's easily our best hitter against lhp.
