  1. Simply put, this is just not a good lineup tonight. No speed besides the first two hitters, and absolutely no one in the lineup who will work the pitcher besides the first two hitters. It's a bad idea to have the slumping PK and AJP batting back-to-back.
  2. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) I think you are all being a tad bit over dramatic about Willie... yes he has had a terrible offensive game today... However think about it... how much offense are we really expecting from either Timo or Willie. If we are depending on either of them to hit much of anything we are in trouble. So doesn't it make more sense to get the one that has better defense, can actually play the IF, and actually gives us a decent pinch runner in late game situations. Timo brings NOTHING to the plate. At least Willie brings speed and defense even if his offense is suspect at times.. Willie has no power, that we know. However, if he can't contribute in the situations he had the first two times up tonight, he shouldn't be playing in the majors. Harris hasn't improved a lick this season, and his batting average is plummeting right now. If he's going to be such a liability at the plate, then we should let Ozuna play 2nd base when we want to bench Iguchi.
  3. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) The A's hitters are fouling off pitches, not swinging at pitcher's pitches, being very patient. I am impressed They do that nearly every game we face them. Good job by Garland getting out of that inning allowing only one run. Still have a solid chance in this game.
  4. 5-3 Twins are winning. Greinke's on his way to another loss.
  5. Twins lead 4-3. One more fastball like that to Chavez, and it will be a 6-1 game.
  6. This game is one hit away from getting out of hand. A's are just hitting it where we aren't tonight.
  7. Crosby has seen a ton of pitches from Garland tonight. Jon's going to have to make a good pitch to get him out here.
  8. Twins tied the score, and are threatening to score more.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Hey, DJ just in a roundabout way mentioned Ozzie's use of the Sunday line-up. Yes he did, while Hawk in a roundabout way tried to make an excuse for Ozzie by mentioning how hard it is to sweep a team.
  10. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) maybe he will get lucky and get on the same plane as chris paul where both could talk about how their careers ended so early Hopefully Chris Paul will punch Willie in the nuts for his awful performance tonight.
  11. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) I'm sorry but Ozzie works to put the most pathetic lineups on the field behind Garland. What does he think that he's such a sure thing that he can survive having Timo "easy out" Perez in the lineup and I like Willie Harris but a slumping Willie Harris in the two hole... I mean come on! Besides for Pods, Frank, Dye, and Everett....no one is hitting very good right now. Thankfully, the Tampa pitching staff helped us out last series to get some offensive rhythm back.
  12. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) yeah speed has a lot to do with it. hustle too. but it doesn't matter how you score them, as long as you score them, and I wouldn't call saying that pessimistic. I know, but everything I say is met with some type of criticism from someone, as if I'm a troll.
  13. QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) He last AB was a walk, that was not his fault You have to protect in those situations. That pitch was definitely close enough to be called a strike. The 2nd AB was Willie's fault anyways for not getting the job done on the 3-1 pitch.
  14. Way to go Willie....having one of the worst individual games I can remember.
  15. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) this team has scored a lot of cheap, pathetic, gift runs. there should be a recorded stat, CPGR, and I bet this team would lead MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL. I was going to say that, but didn't want to get labeled as a pessimist. We probably have more cheap runs this season than the last 3 years combined. Speed does have a lot to do with that though.
  16. Can we ph Frank here, and hope for the 3 run homer?
  17. Make us eat our words Willie!
  18. Don't take a called 3rd Pods!
  19. Not quite sure why Johnson didn't just throw home there. A gift run!
  20. Crede's back is still bothering him it looks like.
  21. Holy cow, that was way too close with Dye at 2nd base. Congrats to Timo, he just picked himself up a contract for next year.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) You were wondering about the Sunday line-up record earlier. I believe they are 4-8 on Sunday. Thanks. For a team with the record we have, that's unbelievable. Our record on some nights must be damn impressive.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) He really will be big league in Charlotte. Does Willie get to fly to Charlotte first class or do they put him in coach? Willie will like Charlotte. The groupies are easier in the minors a lot of the time than they are in the majors.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Willie's being in the line-up in the 2 hole has cost the White Sox 2 runs so far tonight. I think he is probably punching his ticket to Charlotte. Not on any planet is someone with a .540 OPS a number 2 hitter. For someone that shortens up to bunt as much as Willie does, it's amazing that he's 0-2 in getting the guy over to 3rd with less than 2 outs. If Pods gets on base again, we need to push the issue, and do a hit-and-run.
