  1. If this trade involves Contreras and someone like Sweeney, and not BMac.....then I'm totally for it. I'd take my chances with Schmidt the rest of this year than I would with Contreras. I won't shed a tear if we trade Sweeney, as he's yet to show any power at all in the minors. It's much more important for our future that we keep McCarthy than it is Anderson or Sweeney. RF with power are a dime a dozen (J. Dye is a great example).
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) And the two games we lost were because of s*** pitching. It just proves that this team is built entirely on pitching. We don't pitch, we don't win. True, but we're not giving our pitchers a lot of room for error. Not since the Cubs game last Friday did we give our pitcher any breathing room.
  3. One thing that our big hitters (Thomas, PK) have to do better is make contact when there's a runner on 3rd, and less than 2 outs. We've been striking out way too much in those situations lately. Considering that our offense basically sucked on this road trip, 4-2 should be considered extremely lucky.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) If the package includes two of those three I'm with you completely, no thanks. I can't see the Giants trading him without getting 2 of the 3, if not 2 of those guys, and someone like Gio.
  5. Schmidt broke down at the end of last year. I see no point in trading away our top prospects for a pitcher that hasn't proved jack s*** this season.
  6. I don't understand this at all. It's beyond obvious we need to seperate Contreras and Duque. Ugh....sometimes, it's so frustrating.
  7. Schmidt's ERA is now 5.11. Assuming we'd have to give up some great prospects to get him, I definitely don't want him in a trade. Hell, even Zito is a better option than Schmidt right now.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Why Kevin Walker ever sniffed our roster this season is beyond me. Baj deserves a shot, hopefully we see him this year. If not, I am going to start wondering whether he is even on the Sox radar screen anymore. I think it's pathetic we called Walker back up after the Angels debacle. Not only that, but for Ozzie to use him in the most critical situation in the first game of this series is also pretty stupid.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Right, over 162 games these type of games are going to happen and they just always happen when we're at Oakland. We're just going to have to shake this off and go beat up on the Drays. Everytime this team has a tough series they bounce back, no worries here at all. I agree with you. Every time I think we're headed for a downfall, we put together a nice winning streak. If we lose more than one game against Tampa, then I will start to get concerned. Our offense, right now, is not very good though. We rely on the homer way too much to score.
  10. Good AB by Rob Deer, but can't get the job done.
  11. When's the last time Iguchi got a hit with RISP?
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) God, I just wish Tampa would've not rolled over and taken at least one game from the Twins. That makes these two losses seem even worse, as if they possibly could be. Absolutely. Twins have a lot of confidence going now after winning 3 straight. We need Vlad and the Angels to step it up against them this week.
  13. No reason to burn out MB on a day where he has nothing on his pitches. Might as well save him an extra few pitches, and bring in Viz.
  14. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) i've never seen anything like that from MB. that coliseum needs to die. I've seen that from Buehrle before.....basically every game he pitches at Oakland. The funny thing is that he wasn't even hit hard that inning, after playing with fire about every previous inning. Ozuna has got to worry about catching that ball at 2nd first, as he overstretched and didn't give himself the chance to reach up and catch it. Still Buehrle's fault though.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I turned it off. There's now no way Buehrle starts the ASG. After the way Halladay pitched in front of Francona and how Buehrle performed today, there's no chance he gets the nod. That's not a shot at Buehrle, either. Halladay deserves to start the ASG. He's a bigger name than our two guys, and he's putting up better overall numbers.
  16. It's imperative we win at least 2 games against Tampa. After they bent over for the Twins, it's a big series for us with our 2 worst pitchers going.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) DJ called that one. I have no faith in our offense to score again. Buehrle and Iguchi to an point blew this one. What did Iguchi do?
  18. Why in the f*** was Iguchi so far up the middle? They showed the overview before the pitch, and the entire right side was open. Kendall always goes the opposite way. What type of scouting was that s***?
  19. I HATE THIS f***ING STADIUM! Buehrle has no one to blame but himself for this debacle.
  20. I hate f***ing Oakland. You could see that happening before he even threw it.
  21. Would have been nice to get that run after the great hustle by Ozuna. Frank has got to do a better job of protecting when he has 2 strikes than he has been doing.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) He has the 4th most AB's on the team and has appeared in 68 games. I wouldn't call that a platoon player. Lately, almost every game in which we've played a lefty, he has been on the bench.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Pods didn't look much better last night against Sarloos. I just don't like seeing Pods be mostly used as a platoon player. I don't think that's what KW envisoned when we traded for him.
  24. If you play Ozuna, he should be a 9 hitter only. Against lhp, if you don't play Pods, you're much better off having Rowand lead-off, and then have Iguchi bat 2nd. It's ok though, that no-call on Widger was the worst umpire missed call I've seen all year.
  25. Against a pitcher like Zito where you can steal at will against them, Pods needs to be in the order. I agree with the person who doesn't like seeing him in the platoon role like he is right now.
