  1. Didn't Will Venable, of Princeton, play basketball in college also? He was just picked by the Padres.
  2. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) That and the fact that he played like an uninterested dog all season. Yeah, I noticed that his high school numbers were extremely mediocre this season for someone who was supposed to be such a stud. Looks like Paul Hewitt will actually get Austin Jackson on campus next year
  3. What do we know about Cunningham?
  4. Austin Jackson has not been picked yet. I guess teams were scared off by his desire to play point guard at GT next season. Looks like that decision is going to cost him a lot of money.
  5. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Do any of the BA people work for a major league organization? Didn't think so. The Sox know what they're doing. Come on, I'm just relaying what information I heard. Almost all of us were disappointed in the pick when we heard it anyways.
  6. Real quick tidbit: My brother just called me, and he works for Baseball America. The people at BA started laughing after the Sox took Brooks. According to the people there, it was the biggest stretch of the draft.
  7. Sounds like an awful pick. Also, no shock that Cubs already signed their first-round pick. They don't mess around with money now. If there's a good pitcher to be signed, they'll pay top money for them.
  8. Any predictions on who the Sox take with their next pick?
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) f***ing hell...great pick by the Dbacks. Neighborgall may not have the numbers, but has the arm. As I'm sure you know, he has absolutely no control. GT can't even pitch him in big games because he's more of a threat to walk in 5 runs than he is to give you 3 solid innings.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Haven't heard much on Moviel, I remember the Sox signed and drafted his brother Paul hoping to grab Greg. Hodges has flat raked, man would if of been nice if the Sox signed a couple of those guys. Its cool how Hodges broke his hammate and learned how to rake from the other side of the plate and is now a switch hitter. I remember you always loved Hodges. Are you sure Hodges is a switch hitter now? I'm a huge GT fan, and I watched all their regional games on ESPNU this week. Hodges batted righty the entire week. He is a great player though, and it will shock me if he doesn't become a MLB starter in his career.
  11. The Cubs have deep pockets, and I'll be shocked if they don't get a deal done.
  12. Ozzie better get someone up in the pen. You can't f*** around at Colorado, and let the tying run get to the plate.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:33 AM) That's exactly what people speaking for an organization say when a guy is about to be replaced. "We have total confidence in our manager" etc. In most cases, that's true. But that's not the way Hawk and the Sox work. You never heard Hawk say anything good about Manuel his last season with the Sox.
  14. Only Ozzie could continue to piss off a majority of Sox fans during a game where we're up 9-3 in the 9th inning and Freddy Garcia looked like a stud.
  15. For anyone wanting Greg Walker to be fired, I give you this tidbit: Hawk was saying the more he's around Walker, the more he sees how "solid" he is. Since we know Hawk is basically the voice of the Sox front office, it's safe to say Walker's not going anywhere.
  16. Timo showing his amazing versatility by swinging at the first pitch he sees. I bet he just wanted to get back into the dugout to finish off what he started with Ozzie.
  17. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) For those not watching, what happened? I think he's referring to Dye getting thrown out by 10 feet at home by Hawpe, who has a great arm. Cora should have never sent him home with less than 2 outs.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) What happened to Crede and trying to keep his swing plane level and his shoulder closed? Crede's been much better recently. Just like with Cotts, I'm not sure why people still complain about players even though they're performing well at the time. Uribe's offense is hurting us a hell of a lot more than Crede's performance right now.
  19. What happened to Pods and his patient approach? He's walked twice in his last 18 games.
  20. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) I agree you need to get the runner in, and that was better than his usual strikeout, but how about gettting a hit. Lets try that next time. we will need 9 runs this game. Wouldnt that go against the rules of Ozzieball? You know, the Ozzieball which prevents you from ever scoring 5 runs in an inning.
  21. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) Nice joe real nice. Get a life Actually, in that situation, it was very important for Crede to get that runner home. With the pitcher up next, it would have likely put Pods in a situation where he had to get a 2 out hit. I don't like Crede at all, but at least he got the runner in. Now, if we can just get Garcia to stop throwing 3-1 fastballs to lefties with a righty up next, we'll be fine.
  22. I said it in chat before it happened, so I'll repeat it here: Garcia in Colorado is a recipe for 3 run homers.
  23. Hawk, will you please stop saying that the count got a pitcher when they give up a homer? It sounds ridiculous.
  24. Konerko just owns Kennedy. He's now 8-12 against him this season.
