4/28/09 Mariners @ White Sox - Game 1, WGN
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) Considering he is considered a fastball pitcher with this mediocre stuff, the sox should crush him. That's my line of thinking, historically this is the sort of pitcher we get to. It's the crafty soft tossers that kill us.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) I can see this happening also. This guy has incredibly mediocre stuff. Look what we did to Burgeson the 2nd time around in BAL. This guys is worse. First time around: .276/.382/.345/.727 Second time around: .333/.316/.500/.816

How's this for optimism: we're going to light him up the second time around.

Lillibridge and Owens are a combined 6 for 40 w/ 11 K on the year.

This is the exact sort of pitcher the Sox should destroy.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Unbelievable amount of movement on Colon's 2-seamer today. His second home start is looking a lot like his first. If he keeps his command on that 2 seamer they're not going to hit him today.

Excellent approach by AJ and Bart right there.

Gotta work Branyan up, he's ready to golf anything down and in.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Perhaps I should give KW a call, because I can hit those pitches. Seriously. He'd be better off just attempting a bunt each AB. Excellent acoustics in the park with the tiny crowd.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) 90 mph fastball down the middle = K. Wow. He was late on 3 of them, it's sad really.

I hate you Jerry Owens Clowned on 90 MPH heat right down the pipe. He couldn't catch up to an 85 mile per hour heater right now.
-

Jerry really having trouble catching up to the fastball.

The question is: how many times will I type "I hate you Jerry Owens" today?

Board Clock
It's been f***ed up for like a year.

Good inning for Bart. 1 GB, 1 FB, 1 K. Lots of movement on his 2 seamer.

Only 1 HR allowed in 14.2 IP for Bartolo this season.

MLB Draft moved to Prime Time on MLBTV
Eh, I miss the conference call. I get why they're doing it but I prefer the old school approach where you can knock out the first few rounds in no time at all and move on with your day. The made for TV bulls*** does nothing for me, you don't need 5+ minutes to pick a player when you can't trade picks.

Getz may go to DL
http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....til-friday.html Then get Betemit some f***ing ABs. I refuse to believe that Jerry Owens is considered a more valuable player than Wilson Betemit even in Ozzie's wacky world. Good to hear, I'm not sure how much more of Brent Lillibridge I can really take.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Ya the cached page from google is now from this morning so it no longer works. It worked when I tried it this morning. I found it amusing. http://www.pcworld.com/article/163936/espn...tta_ponies.html I was lucky enough to experience the greatness during the short period of time it was working yesterday. I'm guessing the exposure it got on Deadspin led to ESPN correcting it.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) At least Owens isn't in CF. Nope, we instead have him playing a power position where his career OPS is .150 points below league average for that position.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) It really is amazing how the absence of Getz and Thome makes this lineup go from formidable to laughable. Yes but this way Ozzie can call for more failed hit and runs that cost us baserunners because Brent Lillibridge sucks. If Brian Anderson starts in CF for the remainder of the season and Lillibridge continues to get consistent ABs, Brian will finish they year with 10+ CS from failed hit and runs alone.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) If Wilson Betemit is not in the lineup for Game 2 tonight, I will take a sign that says Free Wilson Betemit to the game tomorrow. Is it his lack of small-ball-itude? Bopper who works counts and plays unimpressive defense at 4 infield positions can't get no love on this team.

Get well soon Chris, having Jerry Owens (especially Jerry f***ing Owens) or Brent Lillibridge at the top of the lineup is nothing short of embarrassing.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) I disagree with you on South Park I think it's had a solid run throughout even changing the feel of the show, but I can definitely see how it could turn off people, it's a completely different show now. You're right about the Simpsons being a different show today than it was in its prime. Yeah, I don't bring up South Park much because I can see why people would still find it funny, it's just one of those instances where it doesn't fit my personal taste anymore. I won't hold back on the Simpsons however, that's just a disgrace. I'm also not putting South Park in the "unwatchable" category, it's still decent (haven't seen any of season 12 but I did see all of season 11 and thought it was pretty good), if a new episode of South Park is on I'm not adverse to watching it, I just won't go out of my way to watch it anymore unlike the first 6 seasons which were appointment television. There's a few more shows that IMO have really changed over the years and have become borderline unwatchable because of it, one of them being Scrubs but I know I'm pretty much alone on that one. It's sad because for the first 5 or 6 seasons (I forget which) Scrubs was probably my favorite show.
