  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) Mack-o-whack is sexy in LF I'm not used to seeing this sort of defensive ability/confidence out of a White Sox leftfielder.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) what about Crede's play on Hairston? Yes, that too. Oh and Pierz for calling one hell of a game thus far.
  3. Juan Uribe and Tadahito Iguchi are f***ing heroes right now.
  4. QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) I agree. After a bad day, I will often pop in an episode. I actually catch myself using it's catch phrases a lot. Usually it's "I've made a huge mistake." It's one of those rare shows that makes you laugh multiple times EVERY episode. Haha, I find myself using a lot of Gob phrases. "I've made a huge tiny mistake" and "COME ON!" especially.
  5. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) It's funny I was thinking the same thing. I can't think of another reason why he'd do that... The second I saw him pick up that ball I went to baseballreference.com and checked Mark's career K numbers, there's not milestone in sight. UP TO THE SECOND DARIN ERSTAD SUPER LEADOFF GUY STAT LINE: .159/.224/.227/.452 Awesome.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) anyone know why Mark would want to pick up the ball AJ rolled back to the mound after the last out? Just curious, usually don' see that. Perhaps he has a feeling about tonights game and wants a few souvenirs. Come on 43 we need ya buddy.
  7. I gotta say, I have been one of Mark Buehrle's biggest detractors but he looks absolutely amazing tonight. He's spotting his fastball exactly where he needs to and he's avoiding the change. This is vintage Buehrle.
  8. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) that was a thomas esq AB Or Alex Cora
  9. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) Your boy comes through. I'm so glad he's back.
  10. Up to the second Jim Thome season stat line. .324/.510/.757/1.267 And people were lumping this guy in with Konerko, Dye and Crede?
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) How the hell is Steve Stone a.) not in a front office or b.) not announcing for a team? Gosh damn... he seems like the perfect mix between "stats and scouts". That, or his instincts are 99% of the time spot on. About a week ago he was on with Boers and Bernstein, the three of them were putting together his resume, he apparently decided some time recently that he's going to look for a front office job somewhere. You should really go back and download that interview off the Score's website, his ideals on how to construct a front office are just perfect, he knows exactly what he's doing and whatever team hires him is going to be VERY pleased. He also told a great story about Chip Carey and Ron Santo during the show, definitely worth listening to. I'm not sure what date the interview took place on but I know it was the same day Jason Schmidt injured himself.
  12. 2 more fun facts. #1: Erstad has grounded out 19 times this season, I believe 14 are to the right side of the infield. #2: Jim Thome's OPS now stands at 1.090, which is .245 points higher than the second highest on the team, Juan Uribe.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) The scary thing is that he's hit very few baseballs hard during this slump. I remember only 1. That came today on the shot he hit down the 1B line that Tex snagged.
  14. SAY HELLO TO YOUR NEW LEADOFF HITTER CHICAGO!!! .171/.239/.244/.483 That's right you are not seeing things, that's a .483 OPS! But who cares!? He'll grind the s*** out of your face.
  15. After watching all 3 seasons of Arrested Development for about the millionth time I am now confident in saying it is the best show I have ever seen and I'm not sure anything could ever top it. The intelligence, creativity and depth of the writing is just insane. Every line in every episode holds relevance. There are just so many things you don't pick up the first, second or even third time you see them, everything is said and done for a reason.
  16. Hawk, DJ, Schuster and Rongey are all trying to take the blame off Walker, saying the players need to produce and that's not the responsibility of the hitting coach (which is just ridiculously flawed logic but I'm not going to go back into that). But you know the second Walker is fired (if it happens sometime soon) all 4 of them will back the move, saying it had to be done and it was the only recourse. This towing the company line bulls*** gets SOOO old.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) We are now hitting .215 as a team. Jon Garland thinks we are the best team in the American League. LOL. He blames the cold. LOL Do you see this team playing 700 ball for a good part of the season. Especially against the tought left handed pitching we face in the central. Then Schuster and PFB start taking runs off his final line because the botched a DP, a good pitcher pitches around a mistake. After Iguchi dropped that ball it became blatantly obvious that Kinsler was going to go deep, Jon can not be that predictable.
  18. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) Neifi Perez. Neifi Perez doesn't leadoff for the Tigers.
  19. Hey guess what Rongey? I've seen Erstad make atleast 4 HUGE mistakes in the field this year, 3 in CF and 1 at firstbase. What game are you watching?
  20. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) This caller is ripping AJP's pitch calling right now Yeah, this stereotypical Chicagoan is basically echoing my sentiments aside from the Mackowiak thing, which I don't really get.
  21. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) A.J. was two for three tonight. Sure he called for a fastball when a slider may have been better, but he didn't want Mac to throw it right down the middle. He set up on the outer third of the plate and probably expected the ball to tail away. You NEVER throw Sammy Sosa a fastball on 0-2 that's unacceptable in any situation. Any sort of offspeed pitch off the plate and down would have gotten him, a fastball was the absolute worst call in that situation and it's something AJ has been having a problem with for a while now. And one of those hits by AJ today was through the SS/3B gap late in the count, it was a thing of beauty, he needs to get back to that. He was good for 2 ABs today, that doesn't make up for what he's done for the first 2 weeks. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) Not to be Hawk here, but I'd rather suck nowadays than go over the cliff in August/September, like we usually do. It doesn't make it any less ugly, but let's get the losing out of the way now. As long as we're in it approaching the ASB I'll be okay. That said, watching this game tonight was about as uplifting as watching Hostel: The Director's Cut. You make it sound like sucking early guarantees that there won't be major sucking later. This team has been terrible in the second half of the season the past few years, I don't see how having a s***ty April would change that. There's no such thing as "getting the losing out of the way early".
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) The funny thing, is if one was to look at the thread 99% of soxtalk would think that I created it. And Rock would be near the bottom of most everyone's list.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) Was it Hriniak? Yes, Walt still retains god like status around these parts for his work done with Thomas and Uribe. The man is a miracle worker.
