  1. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) So here's the question- how LONG does the organization go with Erstad hitting like this before they make a move? I mean, Hawk (who is believes in everything KW and gang are doing) said last night he is SO HAPPY that GrindErstad is here with us, despite hitting .156 or whatever the sick average is. I wonder how long his free pass goes- my feeling is he can hit .200 or below until June 1 without them doing a thing, which is really scary... If healthy, I foresee him starting in centerfield for the rest of the season despite his abysmal offensive production. There's no one else currently on the roster who the organization feels is any better than him and I don't really have much confidence in KW going out and acquiring a starting position player before the deadline.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) Hell, we had at least 2 better options IN HOUSE - Mack and Gload. Right now he actually has a lefty and a righty that could probably hold their own in a leadoff role in Mack and Iguchi but they'll never be used that way. It just sucks that the only players you're going to see leadoff for this team are Ozuna and Erstad.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:34 AM) I don't think anybody was asking for either of those two. It would've been dumb as hell to pay either of those guys $40 million plus. David Delluci or Trot Nixon, on the other hand... Nixon would've been a great fit for the two hole with Iguchi leading off. Erstad still would've been needed (as a backup starting CFer), and we still would've been short a righty mashing platoon mate, but Nixon still would've been a great pickup. Read my mind.
  4. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) You sound like Mariotti there, Kalapse. That's bs, short-term thinking. If you want to pay $9,000,000 a year for 3-5 years for a leadoff man instead of what we have in house for $2,900,000 and 1 year, then puff puff, pass, broseph. Or he could have thought outside the box, instead of targeting the big name high priced free agent leadoff men. He went with his bad, oft-injured in house option which was never going to work, there were a number of high OBP, lower speed leadoff type players available this offseason. You don't need to overpay for high SB, low SB% slap hitters when you can instead target guys who are simply going to get on base for you and now he has neither. The Sox still have a leadoff type hitter on the roster though he'll never be used in that role, in Iguchi.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) The quote was were are you going to get a guy, not who could I get on my XBOX... If KW is willing to pay the price (which I highly doubt he is) a trade involving a soon to be free agent Ichiro is not totally out of the question. You're not exactly dealing with a genius in Seattle. And as for KW's question, that was his job this offseason, to find a REAL leadoff hitter and he f***ed that up. It's his own fault that he's backed into a corner yet again.
  6. On a separate note, how great has Mack looked in LF the last 2 nights? It's so unusual to see such confidence/ability in LF for the Sox. So great to see. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) At the game I was surprised Mack was still in LF with a no no going in the 7th. I can only think BA was in left because of Mark being left handed against mostly right handed hitting. For that ONLY, I give Ozzie benefit of doubt on that strange move He said about a week ago that if he was going to make any defensive replacements late in games that it would be Brian heading to LF with Erstad in CF. I guess he doesn't want to disrespect his veteran players or hurt Erstad's feelings. Ozzie is pretty much living in his own world on this one.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:07 AM) Even if he's right, Anderson needs to STFU. These types of comments are going to do nothing but irritate Ozzie and KW. I really don't think it matters anymore, from the looks of it they've even soured on him a bit as a defensive player and if that's the case then he's pretty much long gone at this point.
  8. Ozzie is of the belief that Darin Erstad is the superior centerfielder which is a complete joke. Despite the fact that he's slower and has made numerous mental mistakes this season Ozzie can just fall back on the fact that he won a GG playing out there every day like 5 years ago.

    I b****ed about on here twice last night, it felt like it was put together in order to mock Sox fans. I never got the idea that they even cared about the team in the least.
  10. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 01:25 AM) Felix Hernandez, or being beat to the brilliant idea of moving one of your best starters to middle relief? It's just funny that they were prohibiting Felix from throwing sliders up until this season because they were afraid it would put too much strain on his elbow. 3 games into the season and he leaves a start in the 1st inning with elbow soreness. Life is a b****.
  11. Bill Bavasi's worst nightmare has come true.
  12. I don't know if anyone else is even watching this show on Comcast right now "Sox Talk with Two Unlikable Assclowns" but I seriously hate these people. Someone let these guys know the Sox went 11-8 against the Royals last year, I know they're not being serious but I feel that they're making me look bad.
  13. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) now i can't watch the premiere of sox talk at 1130 , joke. It's been on for 5 minutes and I'm already sickened.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) Well I would say Buehrle's era went down a tad bit.. His WHIP dropped from 1.08 to 0.577. His ERA dropped from 4.32 to 2.08.
  15. You can buy games off of MLB.com for like $3. If you have a DVD burner on your computer, this could be a great route to go.
  16. COMCAST WILL BE REPLAYING MARK BUEHRLE'S NO HITTER AT 11:30 TONIGHT
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) He a f***ing beast right now. Someone has to be. Also a sleeper in todays game was gooch going 2-4. He should never have been moved out of the 2 hole. QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) i thought the last out was gonna be way closer than it was. It's a catcher.
  18. Well since this is technically a Post Game thread I'd just like to add that Jim Thome's line for the season looks like this: .342/.519/.842/1.361 he is f***ing great right now.
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) If anyone has comcast, they will show it again at like 1:30-2:00 am I believe. Also I believe tomorrow morning. Granted it won't be the same as actually watching it live, but at least you can still see every pitch. The Cubs game is on at 1:30AM the Sox game will be replayed tomorrow at 1:30PM.
  20. I seriously love AJ Pierzynski's personality, there isn't a player on this team with a better sense of humor IMO.
  21. I believe all the players in baseball are wearing them during the press conferences. Only the Nationals are wearing them during the games though as far as I've seen.
  22. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) Mark just said it was beer. I stick by my Diet Pepsi statement.
  23. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) I guess there will be no whining about A.J.'s pitch calling here tonight. Congrats to Mark, A.J., and the Sox' offense! Now let's get on a roll! AJ was f***ing amazing back there tonight.
  24. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Yeah the Beer bath was the best part, it looke dlike they were little kids out there. Anyone got any photos from tonight? It looked like Diet Pepsi.
  25. This is probably the best played game I have ever seen by a White Sox team. Simply remarkable. Hats off to Mark, this is the best I've ever seen him throw his change, he was darting that bastard down and they couldn't get anywhere near it. Call me crazy but I think this actually makes me feel a bit more hopeful of Mark sticking around after this season.
