  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) Yeah, actually, if you want to simplify it, that is what I'm going on. His problem, historically, has been the longball. Now it isn't. It's the "big inning," usually including a defensive miscue and a squeezing umpire. The point is, his problems now are in his head, and I also think he's got an issue with relying on run support. He never had run support elsewhere, and now he's got a ton; he's taken to expecting it, and being a bit lazier because of it, IMO. Besides, going more with Mentality, Javy was VERY unhappy in Arizona last year, so that too played a part in him pitching so bad there. Overall, his stuff is still there, and I'll bet he winds up okay. Vazquez has always had mental problems this is nothing new to him. So instead of having the testicular fortitude of a 9 year old girl and giving up a ton of HRs, he's decided to keep the former and add the big inning to his list of problems. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) Oh, come on mate, don't pretend that I've ravished your feelings by teasing you about The Sureness of the Source. That doesn't make the comment any less out of line. There was no need for that.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Would this qualify as an "In or Out" thread, version 2006? I guess you have to keep some traditions alive. no matter how silly they are.
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) I think we're about done here, as I don't care to argue what only time will tell. Well, that's the thing: it's not true. I lied. For different reasons. He had a problem with the longball. Now it's not that anymore, but between the ears. I think he'll be better than okay, when all is said and done. So basically all you're going on is a gut feeling and optimism? What as Vazquez ever done that has shown you he can overcome his mental midgetry?
  4. The Sox are 1-5 in their last 6 to simply call that a 3 game losing streak is inaccurate.
  5. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) I've watched McCarthy before, thanks. I know he's good, I just don't look at him and say "Ace." We'll find out next year. This year, if some of you get your way. That's all fine and good but why?
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) I'd consider trading Freddy Garcia. I don't see where I've ever said that I wouldn't. But I don't think I'd trade Freddy for a reliever, as our bullpen is one I'm confident in. I like and trust our bullpen, especially now without Politte. I know some people lost their minds after Friday's start and forgot that we'd had about a month of excellent bullpen work going into the start of this series, but I didn't, and I like our Pen as it stands. I truly expect Javier to pitch much better in the second half, and Garland too. There should be no doubt that Buehrle'll be okay, and Contreras, either. Freddy's our weakness because he isn't throwing like he used to, but overall, I don't look at Freddy and say, "We're f***ed!" everytime we go into one of his games. And, a clarification: by "We'll be fine" I meant the point that we had an awful beginning this year, then kicked it up. I think the same'll happen here. We were swept by the Yankees. We'll survive. On a personal note, I think McCarthy is very overrated, and I don't think he ever becomes better than a third starter. I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't look at him and say, "Ace!" I'm interested in hearing your reasons for calling McCarthy "very overrated".
  7. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) So do we have any more info on Fields getting pulled from the game? It was a precautionary move, he was hit in the leg by a Pawtucket player earlier in the game so they got him out of there after he got on base.
  8. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) Actually .292 since 6-11-06. My favorite stat.
  9. Yes, heart, that is what this team is missing. Where the f*** are Bo Hart and Stubby Clapp right now? They seemed to have plently of heart, perhaps they'd be interested in playing ball again.
  10. This is the anti-2005, remember how great that Cleveland series was comming out of the break last year? Damn that was fun.
  11. These next 2 days are going to be f***ing loaded with insane trade speculation, should be fun.
  12. Just as long as he avoids the triple play I'll be happy.
  13. Off the top of the f***ing wall time for the 3-4-5 to each fly out to CF now.
  14. Appearantly Hawk has not been watching the game today or maybe just snoozing when the 3-4-5 come to the plate.
  15. But I thought Pods was clutch
  16. I've never seen a team fly out meagerly to CF/RF so many times in one game.
  17. Rivera nearly got the job done for Juan right there.
  18. f***! This team has the s***tiest fundamentals EVAR
  19. OMG OMG OMG BRIAN IS AWESOME!!
  20. Well, Freddy has come back and pitched MUCH better in the latter innings hopefully this will save his trade value as much as possible.
  21. I'm 10000% for trading Fields if we can get a great package for him or include him in another package for some elite talent. I've just never liked the guy as a prospect and his value is simply insane right now.
  22. Freddy's goin' the distance today.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Well, he's a pretty good runner, to be honest. Velandia, who normally plays short, came in. Charlotte was up by 1, so it's tough to tell. He was pulled Top 7. Wow, unless he's hurt that really doesn't make sense.
