They all have equal HR totals to Mark Tex but in less than half the ABs, in Gross' case 210 less ABs.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) And doesn't hit .140ish every year with risp. He currently has a .871 OPS w/ RISP, 7HR, 25 RBI

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) That is awesome Does anyone want to make that into a sig with Thome, Konerko, Dye, and maybe Crede? I've actually been working on something since I first heard that.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Did anyone else notice that Bobby threw a slider up there at 96 MPH tonight?! Granted, he had no control over the thing, but that's just sick. I saw that, it was low and away, he had no chance in getting it over. When I saw the pitch speed I was shocked and appalled, absolutely filthy. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) Common fans (none of which you'll ever see on a message board keep in mind, this would be crazy ass die hard land here) don't tend to embrace guys who don't play defense and strike out a ton, based on what I've seen. That doesn't diminish Jim as a player obviously, but fans love the guys that play defense balls out, hit well, and don't strike out a lot. You mean like how Adam Dunn is generally not appreciated as the offensive juggernaut that he is because he has a low batting average and a high K rate but at the same time hits 40+ HRs and puts up a .380+ OBP?

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) In their last 2 starts: Garcia has lowered his ERA 0.47 Garland has lowered his ERA 0.61 Things look good fellas!! They allowed a total of 1 run over 16 IP combined. Now that's called manning the f*** up.

Who is the Best Young Pitcher in MLB?
Kalapse replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in The Diamond Club
I'm absolutely shocked he hasn't finished off one of his numerous 7 inning no hitters yet. The guy is going to catch a break some time this year and close one out. If he didn't act like some crazy ass crackhead he'd get a s***load more praise from people. -
Roger Clemens didn't look too hot tonight

So how many times did Thorne call him a legend tonight? 60? 70 times? -

Series Preview: White Sox Vs. Astros By Tony Mazzuca While the 2006 season is in full effect, this weekend the Sox and their fans are going to get a little October '05 flashback. As we all know, the White Sox swept the Astros in the 2005 World Series, giving the Sox their first World Series title in 88 years. Both teams have had their ups and downs in '06, however the Sox now looked poised to reach the Fall Classic again, while the Astros have been hovering around .500. READ MORE

QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) You'd give the nod to Reyes and his two starts over Marquis and Mulder who have a seasoned MLB resume to fall back on. He may have legitimate stuff, but he is still considered a prospect, pitching on the road against the world champs, who have put a hurting on the Cards the past two nights. I'll take us in that match up. I highly doubt Reyes has anybody in our lineup shaking in their boots.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) You hear DJ? About a half second before Jim hit his HR DJ was saying "Thome is ready for launch" Thats almost as classic as when Podsednik hit that homer off Lidge in the WS and a second before that the announcer said that Lidge "Just got the taste of Pujols out of his mouth" "I don't think that taste is there." - Tim McCarver

Reyes pitched well.

Bobby Jenks throws hard.

QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Cards announcer say Freddy pitches slow because he is from Venezuela (which is like the Caribian) and is on Island time. Is that racist? That's more retarded than racist. Funny how he was throwing mid 90's in Seattle. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) I've noticed that Hawk is most vocal about the gun when Garcia is on the mound. To be honest, after all of the questioning about Garcia's velocity this season, I'm happy that he makes sure he tells the viewing audience what's going on. Yeah, that's pretty much what I was alluding to. It seems Hawk and DJ are the only members of the media who are willing to even mention Garcia's sudden loss of velocity. -

Notice how CSN is making a big deal about the gun today of all days when it's almost always way off, funny how it would be such a big concern with today's starter for the Sox. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) Pujols about 40 times better than Edmonds. He's saying there's not much harm in walking Pujols everytime up because Edmonds is out. Of course Rolen is still there but it's much less prolific without that crazy lefty power bat. -
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Well, I hope FG realizes that Pujols will be a bit rusty, I'd pitch him him down and in, make him turn that bat and test the oblique. Or you could throw him 4 pitches a foot off the outside corner. I would take absolutely no chances against him.
-
Didn't Pujols say that he didn't want to DH?
-
Yeah Zach Zaidman was just on B&B saying it is officially official. Seems Dave Duncan was a little exra pissy when Zach tried to ask him a question, perhaps the demotion of his son is just adding to the horrible series Dave is having.

QUOTE(holly wiggins @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) And with Ozzie suspended for one game, who is managing the Sox tonight, have they said yet? I'm thinking Ozzie Jr. would be a good choice. Coop tends to take over in such situations.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) I'm saying the "real world" is too politically correct. Don't say you've never called anybody a ***, because you have. I'm not representing an entire organization like Ozzie. It's all about the context and stage in which you use the term.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) *** is thrown around hundreds of times a day in schools around America, but when Ozzies says it he needs training courses. So you think there's no difference between a teenager throwing around words like that and a 42 year manager of a professional sports team using it to verbally attack a newspaper columnist in front of the media? QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) By the organization or by the league? I do believe it's from the Commissioner's Office.
