  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) Yes, it would be hard considering he went 5th. I never said the Bulls passed on him, they just didn't get the opportunity to draft him. So, hypothetically, if they had the opportunity to draft him and did, we'd be sitting pretty right now. So what you're saying is, if the Bulls would have drafted the best player in the NBA in '03 instead of Kirk Hinrich they'd be better off? Quite the insight.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) I too knew Wade was going to be good. And I was thinking about the 2003 draft as well. If the Bulls picked Wade with the 7th pick in 2003 and then picked Devin Harris in 2004, we'd be in really goo shape. Hard to take Wade at 7 when he went 5th to Miami. He was never going to fall to 7 the only way to get him would have been to trade up into the Raptors spot at 4.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Bleh. Payton getting a ring sucks since he was one of the Jordan era failures, so that sucks, but there have been far bigger douches than Williams and Walker to get rings. I just hate the way Walker and Williams play basketball, the fact that they are also douches is simply the icing on the s*** cake.
  4. This is a horrible day, Walker, Williams and Payton all get rings. Disgusting.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) The Heat are still a good team, but they just match up so badly with Dallas, they have little chance. Mavs in 5, 6 at the VERY most. A true basketball genius.
  6. There ain't a chance in hell Mariano Rivera and Mike Mussina especially won't make the team.
  7. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) What round was podsednik picked in? and what year? 3rd rounder by the Rangers in '94.
  8. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) No such comments last year so maybe it wasn't as s***ty last year as has been suggested... I said it numerous times last year but yes he has gotten much worse this year. Like I said before when he's hitting most people tend to ignore his defense, it's tough to ignore him on D when he's doing absolutely nothing on offense.
  9. The only thing that matters is that Ozzie is getting pissed. He's calling out Podsednik publicly for his s*** defense, so obviously he must be pretty subpar out there huh?
  10. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) I dont think anyone in the Media mentioned this today. Was this just announced this very moment? I've heard it on the radio numerous times today on both 1000 and 670.
  11. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Well...my EYES tell me that Pods has no defensive gameplan whatsoever, doesn't position himself very well at all, takes s***ty routes to flyballs, has a noodle arm that couldn't throw out Paul Konerko going first to 3rd, and relies solely on catchup speed to make 80% of his plays out there. I don't need stats to see that. That's not a valid argument. You can't see what the stats see.
  12. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Thats exaclty why I love Sabermetrics. That's not a valid argument. I don't watch players and evaluate them solely from what I see. Whether its hitting, fielding or pitching I always turn to stats. Then what exactly is the point of even watching the games?
  13. Millwaukee's defense lets them down, 3-1 Tiggers in the bottom of the 8th.
  14. Am I the only one who found the plot line of Prison Break ridiculous and just completely pointless? I find it incredibly hard to draw up any sympathy for the supposed protagonist of the show.
  15. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) House should've been brought up by now. I feel as though I've failed. House is in my top 3 easy.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) My point is that he wasn't as bad last year as his current stretch...Again, I'm not calling him a Gold-Glover either, just that he was passable... When he's "hitting" his defense tends to be ignored, he "hit" for a good portion of last season which allowed people to ignore his pathetic defense in LF. Since he's really not "hitting" this year suddenly his defense has been called into question by people who formerly would have ignored it. He's gotten worse defensively this season which is really saying something considering how bad he was last year.
  17. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) He wasn't that bad either...Around this time last year a whole bunch of us were furiously voting him into the All-Star game... If Kevin Walker was up for the final spot like Pods was people would have been voting for him.
  18. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) Sometimes it isn't. Torri Hunter's FRAA was -4 last season and he won a good glove over Rowand (who was +10) Why?? Because every now and then he made a great catch last season, but it didn't make up for other mishaps. It's fine if you don't like the stat, becuase other stats also dictate he was FAR FROM a great offensive fielder (when difficulty is invloved with a stat like RATE2, it shows he wasn't so special), but a horrible OF isn't the correct assesment. LF is good for him, but he's nothing great with the glove. Ok, you can throw out all the numbers you want, you're seriously not going to find anyone who's watched the guy consistently (especially in person) who's going to say he's anything but horrendous. I can watch him out in LF, getting horrible jumps, taking the worst routes imaginable to get to the ball, throwing with no authority what so ever, jogging to balls in front of him that should not be dropping but are, flat out dropping balls in LF, losing balls in mid flight, diving unnecessarily and many many many other blunders he's committed over the past 2 seasons. Sabermetrics are not needed when anyone can simply watch the guy and see that he sucks.
  19. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Lol, his Fielding Runs Above Average last season was +11 in LF. He's perfect for out there. Sometimes watching a player is more than enough. Sabermetrics are not needed when evaluating Podsednik's defense, he was/is horrid.
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) In the baseball universe where solid and dependable SP is at a premium. Having a guy who can throw over 200 innings, who has never had an arm injury is worth more than a set up man. It may be only a prospect. It's not like I proposed Madson and Abreu for Garland. But IMO Garland would be worth more than Madson alone. Esp going to the weak NL where his ERA will drop into the mid 3's But I'm of the mind that getting a stellar young set up man in exchange for a SP [either Garland or Freddy in the offseason] would be worth looking into Ryan Madson is still a starting pitching prospect even though he's been eased into a relief role. You act like his career outlook is only in the pen when the guy will probably be a starter very soon.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) Trust me, this is simply not true. That was a very awkward situation.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) Well, maybe teams like the Yankees and Red Sox would be interested. Considering the premium that's being placed on relief pitching I'd say there's a good amount of teams who would be very interested in both of them, not just teams with unlimited resources.
  23. QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) its a girl girls know nothing about baseball And you know nothing about the opposite sex.
  24. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) Yea, this season he's been struggling on the defensive end, but I wouldn't panic. LF is an easy position to play and he was TERRIFIC there last season. Bizzar World where Scott Podsednik is somehow considered a terrific defensive outfielder.
  25. I've seen every episod of Rescue Me from day 1, the only problem I have is actually watching the show. I'll Tivo it but not watch it so the episodes tend to add up, last season I had 8 episodes stored on my Tivo and ended up watching them all in one day. I watched the Season premier which was excellent but I have not watched the last 2 episodes. Rescue Me is really good but Nip/Tuck is the best show on TV.
