  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Different strokes for different strokes. Isn't it incredibly rude to stand up in front of someone and yell at the top of your lungs while they're trying to watch a game that they paid money to see?
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) The wave is part of the entertainment of the game for some people. I just think people here are overly obsessed with hating on the wave. I'm not for it or against it. Pratt, you hit the nail on the head with the Ozzie comparison. I could give two s***s what Ozzie does to tell you the truth, I have no strong feeling either way when it comes to that whole situation. Explain to me how standing every 60 seconds during an incredibly crucial point in a game is "part of the entertainment" of the game.
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Gotta love that passion -- they're not god damned fans, should be banned from the park, death threats and anger anger everywhere. Did you really threaten everyone around you? I'm a tad surprised that someone who criticizes Ozzie for his childish outbursts would do such a thing. You ought to be careful, you know, if you do go about threatening strangers at ballparks. ---------------------- I dislike the wave, but I don't personally hate it. Doesn't bother me, doesn't interest me. Yes, I did and I'm not the only one.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) OK. Thanks you for the insightful response. Read the quote I also posted, it contains insight into why I hate all things wave. If it's a close game in the late innings why do you need to stand every 60 seconds? What's the purpose? So that the people behind you can't see the action on the field? So that you are distracting every damn person in the staduim who actually cares about the outcome of the game? If the game isn't entertaining enough for you, find a better way to spend your money.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) It seems snobish to hate the wave to me. What's so bad about it and why are you guys better than it? Because anyone who does it is not a fan. How's that? If you do the wave in a close game or hell, ever, you should be banned from the god damn ballpark. FROM EXACTY ONE MONTH AGO TODAY: QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) You guys have no f***ing clue how pissed I was today. It's the top of the 8th f***ing inning, the dream Politte is comming into the game and bam there's a s*** load of noise comming from the upper deck, look up and what do you know the f***ing wave has broken out. A guy gets on, Nelson comes in and bam the wave hits the lower bowl all along I'm threatening to kill anyone and everyone in the middle of section 157 who stands up, luckily once Bobby got into the game the damn things stopped. Doing the stupid ass wave in the 8th inning in a 1 run game just shows that the crowd isn't entirely into the game, no they're more worried about when they have to jump up and make an ass out of themselves. I was embarrassed beyond belief. Anyone who did the wave today should be ashamed of themselves.
  6. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) I think the trick is... whenever you hear that sound effet punch the guy sitting next to you... if we can get a bunch of fans to do that... i guaruntee the sound effect guy will stop hittinng that button.... people try to avoiid riots. I think this is probably the best corse of action.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) How long was Thome's from last night? Official distance = 422 ft. Standard* distance = 440 ft. *distance the ball would have traveled uninterrupted (factoring in wind, temp and altitude)
  8. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) I get it completely but I still don't like the comparison. In a way, it's calling Ozzie selfish while I still think that he's more team-first, no matter how much he runs his mouth. You're taking the comparison too literally, you have to break it down to what it is at it's core. You tend to hear 2 very similar things from both groups of Sox fans. 1.) I really don't care what Manny says or does, as long as he keeps hitting HRs he can do whatever he wants, afterall it's just Manny being Manny. 2.) I really don't care what Ozzie says or does, as long as the team keeps winning he can do whatever he wants, afterall it's just Ozzie being Ozzie. Ozzie, isn't selfish at all and the players absolutely adore him but after every childish thing he says or does you here people use the "it's just Ozzie being Ozzie" line. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Gawd I love Ozzie. He is such a breath of fresh air in sports. The commish will bleep his pants when he reads that story. Awesome. The representive of a multi-million dollar franchise refusing to adhere to a direct request from the Commissioner's Office sure is a bresh of fresh air, insubordination is so refreshing.
  9. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Agreed...seems likes he's threatening to leave the team every year too... I can't believe you still don't get it.
  10. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) Who was the host and on what station? Would not surprise me one bit if it was Eric Casillyass.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) In a camera shot early in tonight's game it looked like the LF scoreboard was replaced by a full color scoreboard. Can someone who went to the game confirm this? No, it's still the same yellow light board, I saw that shot as well. It looked like since the board went blank for a second and then came back on with a graphic that it was a color screen but later on in the game they showed it again it it's just the same old board.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) At baseball? Yes of course....but we knew what Timo was, a sorry ass player who had a lot of clutch hits. Marte would pitch great for a week, then walk everybody he saw for 2. It f***ing drove me up the wall, hence I consider him far more evil than Timo. Timo is the only baseball player I've ever booed for doing absolutely nothing. His basic existence is quite disturbing to me. Atleast Marte accomplished something.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Miroslav? EWWW hockey reference. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) That would be Marte last year. Marte >>> Timo
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Technicalities would say that it's the same city, same team name, same streak. Yeah, the fact that it's a new season and all records are reset has nothing to do with it.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) Timo More like Satan.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) Well, technically, since the Sox won the season opener, they did go on a 9 game win streak. 4 in a row vs Anaheim, 4 in a row vs Houston, and 1 vs Cleveland. There's really nothing technical about that, it's a different season with different players meaning the team's record resets along with any winning streaks.
  17. This teams inability to win 9 consecutive games is just disgusting, it needs to end tomorrow.
  18. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) Bonderman has been absolutely dominating in 4 june starts, sub 2. era and 36 k's. Remember he's the same age as Verlander. Of course I still have to go with Liriano. Finally on the NL v AL debate, just look at interleague play, the AL is tearing it up, the Tigers are 8-2, the Red Sox are 9-1, and aren't you guys 10-0? (Or 9-1? something insane like that) Hell even the Royals are beating up on the NL lately. 9-1 the Cubs managed to eek out a lucky win.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Sox going for 8th straight victory on a beautiful Friday night with Jose pitching....and we cannot fill the stadium. A bit disappointing. 37,700 is just about full. It's tough to say what constitutes a sellout these days.
  20. Cheesus, the Sox are now 9-1 against the NL Central.
  21. Just another episode of Ozzie being Ozzie. *laughtrack*
