Bears agreed to terms on a five-year contract with LT Jermon Bushrod, formerly of the Saints. The Bears were on a mission to upgrade Jay Cutler's protection, and they've done so slightly. Although Bushrod is regarded as a top-tier left tackle because he's kept Drew Brees upright, he actually graded out similarly to J'Marcus Webb last season. Cutler doesn't get the ball out nearly as quickly as Brees. Still, the Bears certainly know what they're getting as offensive line coach Aaron Kromer worked with Bushrod in New Orleans. Sale will make $850,000 this season, $3.5 million in 2014, $6 million in 2015, $9.15 million in 2016 and $12 million in 2017. The White Sox hold a $12.5 million option (or $1 million buyout) for 2018 and a $13.5 million option for 2019 (or a $1 million buyout). If Sale maxes out on the deal, he would make a total of $57.5 million. There's risk to committing to any young pitcher, but this could work out very favorably for the White Sox if Sale can hold up.
