  1. QUOTE(bighurt4444 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) I would say that if anybody is going to trade for Griffey, the Sox are the leader by a large margin. With that said, I would still guess it is unlikely that the Sox get him, but you never know. Sorry guys, I don't want to turn this into another Griffey to the Sox thread. yeah I probably should've just looked at the threads about him, but anyways, this isn't turning into a Griffey thread, haha.
  2. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Konerko is a COMPLETELY one-dimensional player, and next year he will probably be an extremely overpaid one JUST because of home run totals. Any ground ball is an insta-double play. He constantly clogs up the basepaths for the hitters behind him. He's serviceable, but not remarkable defensively. He's streaky to a maddening extent, and much, much worse with runners in scoring position/in clutch situations. Do you ever remember Konerko hitting a game winning homer or hit? I can't in recent memory but it's early monday morning so maybe I'm just wrong. In his early-mid 20s, he was consistently a .290-.300 hitter with 25-30 homers. For the last three seasons, he hasn't cracked .280, and .277 in '04 seems like the top of his threshold since he's turned into a pure slugger. Except for maybe 5-10 extra home runs and maybe 10-15 RBIs AT BEST, what are you getting out of Konerko that you couldn't get out of literally ANY other major league first baseman? I appreciate everything he has done in the past several seasons, but we could get a first baseman that could hit 20-30 home runs and have 80-90 RBIs for much, much less and go out and get even more help with the extra cash. I miss Konerko's hard line drives to the outfield walls back a few years ago. He was more willing to go opposite field too if I remember correctly. But he was also batting in the 5th and 6th hole, now he's our 4 hitter and thinks he must hit for power.
  3. QUOTE(bighurt4444 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Maybe Owens has been sitting the last couple of days for a different reason. Dare I say, a trade involving Ken Griffey Jr. I haven't been looking at the rumors for Griffey anymore, but is there still really a chance that we could get him?
  4. QUOTE(professionalfan @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) From Charlotteknights on WSI: "Anderson was called up last night for Posednick. With such little time left in Charlotte's season, hopefully he'll stay up." I'd be willing for that. But I'm also one of the few that does support bringing Harris back up. But we all know what Willie can do, which besides speed isn't a lot. I'll be excited to see what Anderson can do though.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) Our outfielder list has narrowed. Guillen said he had spoken with general manager Ken Williams and farm director David Wilder about their options, but Guillen made his point clear: "I need a leadoff guy." That leaves Owens and Harris out of that list. And Ozzie was quoted to say that he doesnt believe Owens is ready. I know the list has narrowed, I just felt like posting all the outfielders we have, haha.
  6. We have so many outfielders it's not even funny. But after the first 3, it is a big drop. Rowand, Dye, Podseknik, Everett, Gload, Perez, Ozuna, Harris, Borchard, Owens, Anderson, Sweeney eventually. And I'm probably forgetting some too.
  7. Where's Chris Singleton when you need him. Honestly though, what about Joe Borchard or Ross Gload, I know Gload wouldn't be steller in left field, but at least he would get some hits. I know Ozzie wants a leadoff man, but we're just gonna have to make do for 2 weeks.
  8. I'm glad to see Jeff Blake get signed. I wish him the best of luck.
  9. Haven't seen a thread like this in months, let's do it!!
  10. Harris>Ozuna in LF Perez>Harris in LF Harris>Ozuna and Perez in lead off. It's like pick your poison, only this poison is Aquafina water. Whoever plays left, is gonna be a downgrade.
  11. I'm all for Willie to come back. I think he'll come out with a vengence and be ready to earn a roster spot back. Plus I'd rather have Willie bat leadoff than Timo.
  12. I'm saying under too. I bet he strikes out twice. I can't believe Timo is leadoff though. Put Rowand there just this one game, please.
  13. I'll give the Rays props, good job.
  14. At least the D-Rays are winning. So the magic number would still decrease, that's good to hear.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Did DJ just say that if Uribe hit a ball right at the Pesky pole he might of hit it? lol hmmm, thank you Captain Obvious, Mr. Darren Jackson.
  16. I like the idea of Uribe hitting opposite field. The games I've been able to watch recently it seems like he's trying to do that. But Wakefield is pretty slow so that could be why too.
