I'm not worried about him, he's a veteran pitcher that'll do just fine.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Bugs Bunny haha that's about it. I don't know.

QUOTE(Molto @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) the Sox should be carrying 11 pitchers, which mean they should have room on teh roster for both Harris and Ozuna, to go with Gload, Perez and Burke. Once Thomas comes back, you decide on who goes: Harris or Perez. Harris will be needed this season. With Crede, Uribe and Iguchi all question marks, you need some type of option somewhere in the infield. Harris gives them that option at second. Thank you, someone that agrees with me today. All three of those players are question marks. We don't know if Uribe will be as solid, Crede is always a question mark, and then who knows what Iguchi will do.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) He's never been at a Congressional hearing I bet. There are Americans who speak English fluently, who won't even state their name in court without their attorney whispering into their ear. So, why would Sammy risk it at this hearing? Yeah surprisingly I don't blame Sammy, as much as we need to know the truth I think it's alright as of now that Sammy doesn't say anything, we will find out soon though. I don't like the guy and he does need to tell the truth to even keep somewhat of an image.

I think Pacific has a decent shot to talk on Washington.

I'm still sayin keep Willie. We need his speed, especially for a pinch runner or incase one of our middle infielders gets injured.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) You'll discover that pride ranks a distant second to money, fame and pussy. Maybe, we shall see in the future I guess.

Billy Koch Released by Jays

Anyone think he'll get picked up by another team? -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Respectfully speaking here. You are talking about the opportunity to make millions upon millions of dollars, versus the difference between right and wrong. I'm sorry, but people have commited murder because their pride has been hurt. To expect people to give into moral vlaues vs. millions of dollars is just not ... generally ... realistic. There are exceptions, but the majority won't be exceptions. Until I see otherwise, I'm sticking with what I've encountered. Sometimes pride counts more than money and that is the case with most of us.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) WT you have a good point about gambling, sorta, but it's not gonna get discussed here and now. People lose their houses and cars because of a family member with a credit card and the person responsible no doubt commits suicide a good percentage of the time. It's just hard to compare it to steroids here and now. Again I was just using that as an example, it's not a big deal.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) I'm glad for you. I've seen 3 lives destroyed by roids. One a pro player. It was not pretty. Well I'm sorry about that. If I was in the same situation, I probably would think the same way.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) You don't inject gambling in your ass. Let's stick with the topic. Ya think????? That's why I said let's stick with the argument.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) WT... do you know anyone who wants to, or has the potential to be a profossional ball player..? I've known several and know a few HS and college ones currently.. you would not believe the influence pro players have over them. Yes I do, I've been playing baseball for 13 years and know some people in high school and college that have a shot at being a pro. No one has used steriods or has ever wanted to, we've talked about this routinely. Maybe we don't because we come from a city with good morals and know it's wrong, I don't know. We look up to these players, but we know what right and wrong is.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) What? That's not a good comparison at all. Steroids affect moods negatively, which can lead to suicide. Watching Tilt (all joking aside, as it is lame) doesn't affect you and make you want to commit suicide. Losing in gambling affects moods negatively also which could lead to suicide. People used to jump out of buildings when they lost money in stocks, I call that proffesional gambling, so it does affect. The show was pretty good and far from lame, but that's not the argument.
-
QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) I dunno WT, really, what are the odds of that? haha I know what you mean, but I don't remember a Kman, that's what I'm getting at.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) I didn't say it wouldn't help. But that doesn't need to be the backbone of the policy. I guess what I'm getting at is sure steriods are wrong and shouldn't be used. But it's not like the players are forcing kids to use them. Players shouldn't be blamed for the death of those kids.
-
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) I disagree. They just asked the parents of the dead children if they believe their kids would be alive today if MLB players had made public statements against steroid abuse when their kids were playing sports. All of them said yes. Try to imagine the impact of those spots day in & day out during every game. Those spots could include %'s of fatalities, suicides, & other characteristics brought up in these hearings. That data being associated with iconic players of heroic stature would have a definite impact on high school players. Now try to imagine players in the game getting caught at the same time these ads are airing daily. PR death. I do agree with Juggernaut mostly. Sure I think steriods shouldn't be around the game, but it's not because of the players that took them. Sure maybe there was an indirect influence, but that's just like watching the show Tilt and going and gambling and losing all your money, then killing yourself. The show Tilt didn't say anything about gambling your money away.

They'll reach an agreement, like previously said, they both want him in a Sox uni.
