I think I am beginning to hate Dan Plesac as well. His antics on the post game were a bit fan like.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) Just like playing the Rays in Tampa, its f***ing hard to beat the cubs at wrigley. They just play the park so well. Rock we play in a similar park. Lots of homers on fly balls. Its not like our parks play that different in the summer.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) I don't know, really. It happened fairly quick. And Cooper, if anyone, deserves to be absolved of blame. Contreras' forkball was like a Kirk Sarloos hanging slider. I don't think Coop was fixing anything, its called stalling so your bullpen can get loose. We took way too long to get someone up. And waited until it was beatdown time.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) Watching these idiots sing Go Cubs Go no wonder they have not won in 100 years! I had my sister-in-law call up with my nephews singing that song 5 minutes ago. I told them that I was at a world series game and watched a winner. Tell her kids to get a shovel to go to the cemetary to dig up someone who can say the same on the north side.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) Can't fault the offense. Seven runs should win majority of games. When people suggest individual players don't lose games, remember Contreras today. He lost the game. Better win tomorrow. Atleast have your pride and win a game, keep MInnesota off your back, and show the national audience you deserve to be a first place team. Why didn't a coach trot out to give him a breather instead of just watch him get wrecked. I haven't seen where a pitcher just gets mowed over for all those runs, and a pitching coach doesnt come out.

Time to cut away before they start to sing their goofy little song. I hate that song.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) this loss is on Jose today, for sure. he's just not any good right now, and can't be relied on no matter who he faces. i'm gonna cringe everytime i see him step to the mound from now on until he starts pitching better His forkball is missing. Without that pitch, he gets into that drop down mode and gets hit. His control today was also off. When guys are facing you 2-0 all the time, you get a good pitch to drive.

A hit to the right center gap. Thats the approach we need when thrown away consistantly. Nice job Dye.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Hey, I have an idea... How about we support our team instead of bashing it all the time? Cubs fans bash the team enough as it is. Certainly we are better than Cubs fans...aren't we? Cub fans bash their team? When did this happen. Year after year they claim its their year. They are the most optimistic fans in the world.

Nice gift strike there by blue.

They got their loogy up for Thome.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Something we don't possess obviously. I would love to compare our spray chart to the cubs the twins or other teams that can hit with men on base. Earlier in the year the Minny announcers were talking about how amazed they were on how the sox approach the batting cage time. They said, team after team comes in and does the same thing. They hit, they go oppo for a while drop a few bunts and move on. The sox looked like they are putting on a home run contest. Just seeing how far they can hit it. Well they miked AJ during batting practice today, and that pretty much was making comments on how far he could hit the ball.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) Kenny Williams loves the home run too much. Home runs are great. But you should hit them as a result of good hitting. Not trying to hit them.
-
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) wait until our hitting instructors get their hands on him! That short quick line drive swing will be the first thing to go when he gets into our system. But his power numbers will shoot up.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) Detroit still scares me. They have won 8 of their last 10, and are only 7 games out (6 if we lose and they win tonight), and they still have plenty of time to catch up. If we keep playing like this, the entire party outside of the Royals will be all bunched up at the top. Those teams have a lot more minor league bullets to spin that our team.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:03 PM) I think the AL Central will be clustered no matter what. Simply put, we're not that much better than the other teams. For people to complain about our offense, then you have to think we were lucky as hell to have the pitching we did. But when you have 7 shutouts by the first week of June, when you only had 11 all of the 90 loss last year. Thats a lot of wasted opportunities to get more wins. When you have pitching like we have had, you need to capitolize on it.
-
The sad thing is the wasted opportunity we had earlier this year. We could of put up a lot more wins if our offense didnt suck. We would have a large cushion we could ride while we face the cubs. That and our one trick pony offense is going to be our deathfall this year. We are letting everyone back into the race, and we dont have the minors to pull off a trade to get anything.
-
Watching the cubs use the whole field makes me sick as a fan. Because I know that our team has no concept of how to attack a team in this fashion. Our one trick pony offense is going to be the end of us this year.
-
I will be sad to see Joe and his popups move on to another team.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) Uribe, He can carry us for stretches. Sure the .234 hitter carries us for stretches. Stop listening to the Hawk propaganda. The last time we had him carry us was 2004.
-
The problem with our chances is, we attacked their hitters by going away. They just extended and drove the ball the other way. We get pitched away, and we cant hit the ball oppo. Thats the tale of two offenses. One uses the entire field, works the count and drives the ball. The other swings hard and hope it makes contact. Plan versus no plan

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) This game isn't over with the wind blowing out. Jason Marquis is on the mound as well. Its time for Dye to leave the yard
-
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) 9 out of 10 reach and three opposite field homers. Can someone explain to me why no one has one in their ear right about now? I agree, someone should of left their feet. You dont just let them extend and drive.
-
QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) Its Ozzies fault Boone threw that HR Its Ozzies fault when you leave a guy in to give up 9 runs without even a trip to the mound to let the bullpen warm up.

Thats game.
