  1. Welcome back from the DL Mr. Rodney. He just gave up a 3 run jack to John Bowker to give the Giants the lead in the bottom of the 8th. 6 -4 Giants. Lets go Giants. They scored 2 more on a ground rule double by Lewis. Then in the top of the 9th, heart attack time for the Giants. The tigers load the bases, Granderson hits a single drives in 2. Its 8-6 with 2 outs. Polanco gets thrown out for the 3rd out by a stop by Vizquel.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Sure I can. The US is as capitalist as any country gets. Obama's policies would move it some miniscule percentage to the left, but would still undoubtedly leave it well to the capitalist side of just about everyone else. So, I definitely deny that its closer to socialism than capitalism. The redistribution of wealth sure sounds socialistic to me.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) Let the swiftboating begin! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/15/magazine...amp;oref=slogin Gore Vidal is the same mope who stated that the Japanese wanted to surrender, however we didnt listen because we really really wanted to nuke them. He is a wacko that has a large tinfoil hat.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) PK would have to go to the doctor and have the doctor tell him that Paul has regressed in to a studly young 22 year old AAA level prospect that other teams might be dying to have...because there's nothing else in our system that is going to interest anyone for the power hitters on the market (Holliday, Gonzalez/Giles, etc.) My only worry is that Kong tries to play through it, or thinks that a few days of rest will cure it.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) yeah, I'm not sure why I said he was lefty. I think I meant righty. Yes, he hits righty. If lefthandedness is key, then I suppose Owens has to be it. But I am not aware of Cook's splits, so, I can't say if his righthandedness is important, hitting-wise. Sample size is a tad small in AAA. .500 in 8 ABs against lefties. .222 in 9 ABs against righties. He has 7 strikeouts in 17 ABs.
  6. Rodney was activated, Zumaya will be activated on Friday for the Tigers. We need to beat up on the Pirates and get the offense going for a hot streak.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) Its time to do something before this season is lost. First place teams in the AL do not start players hitting near .200. Thome has missed meatball fastballs more times this season than he has in his whole career. We need to make a move. If we have medicore production from Kong, Dye and Thome as a group and we are running away from this. What a shame we are wasting such good pitching.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 02:24 AM) Not looking at any RISP stats, or any stats at all actually, I get the impression that Uribe has come up big in important situations over the years. In order to get me to feel this way, you have to, well, come up big in important situations. I'm not easily impressed. Maybe laziness or a lacksidaisical attitude can account for what we often see. What was Freddie's forte? Big Game pitcher. Did that work out for us? Well, I guess. He's not ever gonna sport a .300 average, but if everyone on your team batted .300, what would be the point of holding playoffs or a World Series? Again, not looking at stats, I think Uribe has had a .250-.260 average at years end sometime in the past. 20+ homers, and in the range of 70-80 RBI. Someone who sucks as you put it doesn't have 70-80 RBI, 20+ homers. If you disagree, then I beg of you, please explain this to me. Or maybe he just got lucky 70-80 times, and his bat tripped and fell right on the screws of a baseball thrown at him 20+ times. F***ing four leaf clovers... He's capable, light a fire named Alexei under his ass, and I think he'll be a bit more selective with what he swings at. Labeling him as a .200 hitter would be based on this year, and in that case, we're f***ed, because Nick Swisher is a .210 hitter, Paulie- .210, Thome- .200, and OCab has a solid 40 point fall from grace. Also, Floyd, Danks, Contreras and even Linebrink should have a helluva time duking it out for Cy Young, etc, etc. Not to mention, f*** Babe Ruth, they might as well name some candy after Quentin, oh wait, the law of averages seems to have caught up with him. Is it too late to cancel the statues many have dedicated in his likeness? I'll check with the Detroit Tigers of '05 to make sure... Not ripping on you, cause again, I like seeing Taz in cartoons, not White Sox games, but we've won with guys like Timo Perez, Willie Harris, Damaso Marte, and the afore mentioned Juan Uribe- who should just quit his job because he flat out sucks and he talks to his bats too... The Uribe hatred is exaggerated. The way he's made out over here would make one think that planting a tree in his stead at home plate would better suit our "offense" cause maybe once in a while it would draw a walk (only for the next batter to wipe it out with a DP) or not swing at the same pitch that fooled 100% of the rest of the lineup. Besides, I don't care if he bats .000000001. is enough to solidify him as my 9 hitter, and Valentin has nothing on it. Juan Uribe is a bad hitter. Can we label him a .230ish hitter. 07 .234 BA/.284OBP 74 OPS+ 06 .235 BA/.257OBP 73 OPS+ I want Uribe as the supersub player. The guy you rotate around the horn to rest players. I dont want him as the starter. Thousands of ABs say he is a bad hitter. I would rather have Alexei who gives us better average and OBP.
  9. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) We cant possibly have advance scouts-unless they just scout the food in other parks We didnt need advance scouts. We have faced DeLaRosa and Grilli before. Jorge played for the Royals. Grilli for the Tigers.
  10. Saw this on SSS. This speaks volumes. We have 7 shutouts already this year. Here are the amounts of shutouts over the last few years.
  11. DeLaRosa had an 8 ERA coming into the game. He must of orgasmed when he found out he was starting against our team.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) Its in response to all the b****ing about Uribe playing 2 games in a row. He actually did have a big hit last night, but according to some, he's the reason the Sox haven't scored tonight. He is a sucking player and no amount of dinners or drinks to you is going to change that. He isnt the reason they are losing tonight, but I would rather play the guy who is hitting .287. When was the last time that uribe had that BA, 2004.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) I know one poster who would think that's either Uribe's or Walker's fault. Maybe Brian Anderson can take you out to dinner so you can sing his praises as well.
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) I know it's common knowledge...except to me...but could somebody PM me Ozzie's email address. mucho grassy... Ask him why we benched our starting 2nd baseman for a guy who has hit .235 for the last 2 seasons. Oh I understand he got a hit last night, but why bench the guy hitting near .290.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) And we face Cook tomorrow, their only good pitcher. I wonder if opposing pitchers openly laugh when they chart our team.
  16. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) Pathetic Good job guys, we're well on our way to the low point loss of the season Wait till the post game when Konerko and Dye talk about how great De La Rosa was and how unhittable he was.
  17. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) These guys act like they've never seen a curveball before....... They seriously are waiting for the middle thigh fastball center cut to drive, any other pitch is confusing to them. They keep holding out for the fastball they never get.
  18. One of the worst pitching staffs in baseball versus one of the best and we are on the downside of a 1-0 score in the 7th. A pitcher with an 8 ERA and Grilli are currently 2 hitting our team. I dont want to hear how great De La Rosas pitches were, I dont want to tip our cap. I want our hitters to man up and f***ing hit in one of the easiest parks in baseball to hit in.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) This team makes me sick. It the offense. If we had a mediocre offense we would have 10 more wins.
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) We still scored five runs last night, can't really complain about that. This is just embarassing though. We were shut down for the most part until their bullpen came into the game.
  21. This is the 14th , sorry 15th ranked pitching staff in the NL working over our team this weekend. Last nights pitcher held us in check, and now this f***ing bum is holding our team in a 1hitter. This is one of the easiest parks to hit in, and we cant score here. Embarrassing.
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) Nice to see us getting shut out by someone with an ERA over 8 One f***ing hit so far. Can we get some hitters. Oh wait, we have one on the bench but Uribe got a hit last night so he must sit on the bench until the obsession with portly stops.
  23. Not hitting this bum is an embarrassment. This guy started a game that the Phils destroyed him recently. We are playing in a tiny park and its warm out. There is no reason we cant put up 5 runs on this guy.
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) You have to hand it to Juan Uribe for his good attitude and team player type effort. I still like Juan a lot. I hope he plays again tonight An 8 ERA and he is shutting down our lineup. These bats better wake the f*** up. And why exactly is Ramirez on the bench. He is hitting .287 on the season. I am glad that Uribe got the hit last night but lets not get goofy Uribe cant hit .280.
  25. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) I bet you Jeter "broke through." Well the front door might of been saved from traffic, but that doesn't mean that the backdoor isn't a freeway. The old fashioned I give it up, yet I am a virgin routine.
