Nice job Ozzie for keeping him out there. The rope you give the vet pitchers just hung us. Nice job Jose, back to the suck.
-
It might be time for Ozzie to warm up Masset or someone. Danks would of been gone already if he was on the bump.
-
Christ, Marquis on 0-2 gets a hit. Contreras is going through the motions.
-
7 pitch inning for Marquis. Way to make a crappy pitcher work.
-
QUOTE (southsidesoxfan1983 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) jose looks unsure od his self out there When I see his forkball dance I will be less worried.
-
Attacking our hitters away for Marquis is a bad plan. Away is a good place to go, but Marquis has a natural tailing action that makes the ball come over the plate. It becomes center cut. This is the type of pitcher we need to pound.
-
Marquis is attacking our right handed hitters away.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) I can't, but you have to admit, when the wind blows out at Wrigley, there happens to be a lot more homers. It's too bad Quentin's double earlier in the game didn't go for a dinger. Maybe that's why the Cubs get a lot of come-back wins, the wind starts kicking up later in the afternoon and they just hit fly balls that ride the jet stream. Who knows? I thought BA's ball was gonna get caught, it didn't. Ramirez's ball probably would of been a fly to the track without the wind. It's Wrigley Field, there's no big scoreboard to block the wind, it's a crap shoot half the time. I was at the game. The flags were blowing out at different times in the game. Quentins double was a laser. If he got it up in the air it would of went. The wind didnt dramatically change in the late innings. It was blowing out for most of the game.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) I could see why people would want to keep Danks in there but are you really going to argue about throwing Dotel-Liney-Jenks(at least that's what Ozzie had in mind) out there? Those three have been absolutely lights out while Danks has barely pitched into the 7th inning this season. Ozzie had confident in the best bullpen in the league and they had a bad day, that crap is just going to happen at times unfortunately. I made this comment when I saw Dotel warming up. Dotel and Ramirez is a bad matchup. Ramirez is a good fastball hitter, and Dotel is a fastball pitcher. Danks handcuffed the Cubs and had them shut down. He was at 85 pitches, and could of gave you one more inning. Just a bad pull.

For the glass half full. Ginger Zee was at the same rooftop event I was. Not only is she very easy on the eyes, she is also a very nice person. The game itself was the same story we see all the time. Guy gets into scoring position, offense s***s itself. The minute the offense starts to execute we will be fine. They are too busy looking for the dong. Ozzie needs to do the same thing to Danks that he did for Garland in 04 and 05. Manuel for years would pull Garland at the first sign of trouble. Ozzie let Garland mature by allowing him to pitch through it. He needs to do that with Danks. Let him pitch through it. Pulling him turned the game.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) Can you think of any other series in Chicago history bigger than this one? In regular season history, of course. And I'm not saying a series in which we clinch the division when we're up by 8 games. I mean a real, meaningful series. Considering two Chicago clubs are in first place and deservedly so ... I say this is the biggest series in Chicago regular season history. Couple of requests: Somebody who goes to all three games ... please keep track of all the fights in and outside of the park. Also to those Sox fans who normally don't go to Wrigley, please post things that annoy you about the park and let us know if it's as dirty as people claim. I wouldn't go as far as history. The World Series was the most important series in chicago history. As far as Wrigley behavior. Well it should be interesting. Last year the animals were at their fevered peak of angst locating every sox fan they could to either start a fight, throw a beer or taunt. I look forward to a repeat of last year when some fat drunken trixie in a Kerry Wood half shirt, calls my CIO and I a name and throws a beer our way. That and the socio-economic taunts are great. Nothing like some college kid who works at McDonalds on weekends throwing money barbs at strangers because we happen to be wearing sox apparel. I look forward to the 100 year anniversary of mopes coming out. I hope we get a nice victory so I dont have to hear the drunken morons singing their go cubs go beer song. The only other entertainment value is going to the local bars afterwards to see rogues gallery of drunks and drunk comedy.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:39 AM) Would you be in favor of oil rigs set up around Michigan City? I wonder how you are going to stop the Cubans who are slant drilling 60 miles off the coast of Florida. The Bad American companies are shutdown by the gov, however the Cubans and their friends can drill the same waters and in some cases, drill on a slant to get our oil. I guess the Hurricanes only wipe out the American Oil Rigs, and the Cuban oil rigs are the picture of safety I am sure. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 06:51 AM) 99% of the time, it isn't the kids. The kids almost always have more sense and manners than the parents do. I ref'd peewee basketball for about 5/6 years, and it wasn't even close. Its parents everywhere. My son is in the 3-4 year old soccer program through Downers Grove Park district. At the end of every quarter program they have a Kids versus Parents soccer game. The parents get what it is, and have a lot of fun with it. The minute you get the ball, make sure the ball gets passed to one of the kids. Its all about the kids. Except for some super soccer parent who has decided that putting a beating on the kids is the only way to teach them the life long lessons of how to take defeat. He steals the ball from a 3 year old, then takes a shot that caroms off of another 3 year old who of course falls down and cries. He then runs in and scores all proud of himself. A couple of the fathers pull him to the side and ask him what is his problem. He tells us, well you cant let the kids believe that this is a game, that they should play to win. I told him be happy that the kids are playing, dont do anything to destroy their interest in the game. Father of the year is lucky he didn't get lynched. I already realize that I will have to coach my sons baseball down the road. I have witnessed too many a coach who puts the 10 year old pitcher through the ringer. They have the 10 year old throwing breaking pitches, working too much, and allow bad mechanics. Lets make sure that we win the 10 year old league title because that is more important than the kids arm. Kids shouldnt throw breaking pitches until 14 or older. I don't want some superdad screwing my kid up, ruining him or his love of the game. The most important thing in these kids games is to teach the basics, make sure that they are having fun. I am a firm believer in everyone plays as well. You see too much competitive baseball in little league where they bench the kid after the minimum because the league title is more important. There is plenty of time for competitive cutthroat baseball down the road.

Hawk and his 26 inch plate crap. I wish that the score and comcast were synched so I could get away from Santo with legs on the broadcast. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) Russel still needs to find a way to develop better secondary stuff (the slider he has can be good at times, but too often it flattens out a bit because of the arm angle he throws it from). Either way I love watching good arms throw (and he's got a good arm). Awesome job by the offense to bail out Javy. Nice win Sox!!!! But Jas, the difference is Russell has some sink on his fastball. That could keep him around. Good velocity with sink plays well as a reliever. As long as he throws strikes he will have a chance.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) This wont help Johnies attempt to avoid the "McSame" idea... Bush To Echo McCain's Plan To Drill In Oceans By the way, McCain was against offshore drilling during the 2000 campaign. Against it... before he was for it. Maybe he realized that the Chinese and the Cubans are out in the same waters drilling away. Might as well get some of that oil for ourselves.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) Swish is coming back around, and our offense is a little different look. If Wise can slap the ball around a bit, he could be useful down in the 9 slot. Alexei is looking good as well. He keeps hitting, and running, catching everything.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) You can see how off-balanced he is. He's jumping out at the pitcher so early on his swing, and it's not compact. This is also leading to the swing being so loopy. Well thank god he has a wealth of info to lean on to help him remedy that swing in short notice. I figure this slump is short lived, and he will be fixed in no time. The drills to get him to square up the ball are being devised in the dugout as we speak. -
