Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels

QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) If Juan plays for his D (like that), why doesn't Anderson? Only Ozzie knows. The answer is probably the same as why Gload was down in AAA last year and Timo was playing 1st and DHing, and leading off. -

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) theres a lot of days when I think the soxtalk pages are too pesimistic, but if we get shutdown tonight after the tigers and twins win, its gonna feel like a morgue around here... ... and with good cause. 17 games left dude, we dug our own grave. If we can play well we can kick one of the other two teams into the hole and kick dirt over them. If we play like crap, then its adios. I feel better that we took the pipe when we played the crap teams in the AL. Thank God we keep resting our starting lineup for winterball. -

The biggest failure to fix something is trotting out pods day after day and have his pathetic OBP, pathetic BA, and pathetic defense out there. Because last year, before the allstar break he was good. Another hitter Ks on the outside corner. Just keep it there and you will only give up a few hits and should shut us out. -

So when is Taz going to have that supposed period where he carries the team. Is that before or after Hrniak nails his front foot down. Thank God he and Pods are in there and we cant play Anderson. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) Do the A's have much to play for now? I thought they were up a few more games on the Angels. What a terrible managing job. The cure for all things that ill the As will be a pull only offense that is trying to go yard in one of the largest pitchers parks in baseball. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Anyone else believe we're going to see a new CF next year? If Ozzie has its way it will be Owens. He has to have his worthless noodle armed no hitting guy, who has one talent and that is speed Because it fits the Marlins offense formula he loves. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Oakland about to blow it... The minute our guys see Minny go up on top, our guys will really start swinging for the fences. So let me get this straight, Anderson is not in the lineup because of his bat, however the most worthless 2 bats Pods and Uribe are still in. Why I ask. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) Come on, one of the best hitters in the MLB and there is an open base? Why wouldnt you pitch around him? In the first inning? You are pitching around a guy with nobody on. -

Just throw it low and away, and Konerko will be done. the man cannot stop pulling every single pitch. He has one night where he goes the other way, then goes back into pull monkey mode. Just keep it low and away and he will get himself out. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) So if he threw it over his head, and he ducked out of the way and tomahawked it out of the park, it would still be a s***ty pitch? Actually Rock, I am more upset with the walk with no one on base. If he gives up a single and a jack its a heck of a lot better than our control pitcher giving up free runs because he is pitching away from contact. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Something I've never understood is why does Iguchi always swing when Pods is running? Most of the time, you see the #2 hitter take the pitch, and give the runner the chance to steal. Ask waving wendell over at third that is giving the signs. Or ask the other guy in the dugout who is constantly thinking that this is the NL. -

The swing for the fence method failed to score us a run in the first. Man on 2nd with less than 2 outs, Dye swings at a ball that was more like to hit him, and Thome does his out or dong routine. A pitcher that is notorious for going away away away this year, and the Angels are taking him into right. Walk must be shaking his head that the leadoff hitter didnt try and go yard. Go deep or go home is our motto. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) Will the RallyGage be in attendence...? I think we can touch Santana around a bit (although, before the game, I hope that Walker and Guillen tell the team that they are not, in fact, facing Johan). Ervin has been mediocre-to-bad in his last three starts. We need to continue that trend. The thing I really don't like is Buehrle vs the Angels lineup. Buehrle vs Guerrero + Rivera, specifically, scare the **** out of me. This is the type of guy that we usually can get to. A guy with good stuff who challenges across the plate is someone we usually can handle vs a crafy lefty who can barely crack 80. Now thats the guy who shuts this team down. -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Am I the only one who feels worse about Bobby after todays game? He gave up a ground ball that if Uribe was positioned like a normal SS he would of made. No one would of scored. Only one ball was hit hard and that was an out.
-
Nice way to start this trip off. We win a game where we only score 3 runs. Santana should challenge our hitters tomorrow. We should beat the living crap out of him. Saunders on Wednesday scares me more because he is a lefty.

He gone. Save number 40 for Bobby. Vlad should of been a ground out, if Uribe was playing normally. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) That's not the f***ing point, somethign has clearly been wrong recently. The more Jenks on the sideline the more you see Hermy, Cotts, crap and poo out in the 7th and 8th.
