Official game thread for August 10th
southsideirish71 replied to Ishmookie's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(Yoda @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) Iguchi not in the lineup after hitting a HR? I mean, I can understand Crede not being in there (always popping up), but Iguchi? That’s kind of f***ed up, IMO. Oh, glad to see Everett back. Ozzie rewards great play with a spot on the bench, then plays the crap out of the bad players hoping they will break out of a slump. Uribe has had this slump since opening day, and Crede hasnt been good outside of like one month out of the year. Blumm should get some more time at 3rd. Methinks that Crede's back is acting up again. His approach at the plate lately has been poor. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) And the worse player announcer. Ugh.. he is terrible. And as much as people give us crap for Hawk and his HE GONE stuff, man how bad is Michael Kay and his 15 year old " SEEE YAHHHH"
-
He probably was touched and moved by the "Welcome Bandwagon fans" commercial they have been playing during the games on AM1000.

Jenks to get into the mix at the end

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Bobby can probably develop a cutter over the next few seasons as well, and run that in on lefties, which will make him even harder to hit against them. A splitter would be murder on the arm, but would probably fit his power game a bit more. Its hard enough to hit his fastball, but a hard splitter would be very hard to pick up. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) Too many http's. Fixed, cut and paste doesnt work the same in fedora at times. -
Jenks has earned a bigger role He keeps trusting his stuff its another option at the end of the game. This is our insurance plan if Hermy's back keeps acting up. I am wondering if they should shut Hermy down for a bit so he can get his back healed. We need Hermanson in the playoffs and as our closer.

Time to get Cotts and Jenks some time at the end of the game facing lefties. Jenks is sick against lefties, and Cotts has better control(I never thought in a million billion years I would ever say that) than Marte. HUGE FOCKING WIN, -

Maybe someone can translate TAKE A PITCH to Uribe. Everytime someone walks in front of him or shows a bit of control issues he cant wait to swing first pitch and roll it out to the SS. Vizquel even at 40 is better than Uribe. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) He had a 1.50 ERA in his 2 games for the Yanks before this. And how do you think the Yanks fans feel about their offense up against Contreras, the guy they got rid of? Oddly I dont see them getting 2 hit and 3 hit all the time like we do. -

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) I'm not even gonna debate it. Chacon is a good, underrated pitcher. He is a good pitcher. Is he someone that should shut your offense completely down. One solo homer and that is it. NO -

Playoff like atmosphere in New York must be kicking up our preview of our offense in round 1 of this years playoffs. I remember how high they hit those popups in 2000. How they just missed the homer. Just a few inches to the right or left and it would of been gone. LOL -

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) There is a guy on the AOL board that says Crede is one of the best all around players in baseball. Tell Nitetrain to get off the AOL board. -

We need to score runs, if this is scorless or tight in about the 4th or 5th inning Conteras will pop like a zit. Too much pressure. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Down to a smooth .125 batting average this month for Crede now. I thought he was a second half hitter. That all this crap of him hitting bad was a prelude to him hitting great in August and September. -

We have a pitcher who walks a lot of guys with a bunch of hitters who dont have good OBP because they swing at pitch one or pitch two. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Tony Womack does his best Timo Perez impression. Except Tony is their number 9 hitter and Timo is our 5 hole protection for Konerko. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) This whole offense is pressing right now...it's one of those times when 1 guy struggles, 2 guys start pressing to pick them up and end up struggling themselves... We just need to hope we can snap out of it within a few games and it doesn't last too long. Look at this year. We struggled as a team to hit and score runs in April and May. In June we got Frank and our offense got a jump start. We hit better in June. In July and now August we have reverted back to crap. Its not like this offense was raking the ball and we are in a slump. June was the only good month for the offense.
