QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Personally, I'd like to see Uribe up in the order against the lefty. We're going to need his offense if we want to start scoring some runs, and he was very good up in the order last year. It seems to me like he would focus more. I'm all for putting Iguchi in the 3rd hole right now. I know he's great in the 2nd spot, but if Pods isn't getting on base, he does us no good batting there. Uribe wont change his hitting based on where he is in the lineup. He is a reckless swinger no matter what. All that happens if you bump him up is that Uribe kills a rally quicker. When he came to the team fatter this year it should of been a warning sign to the team. -

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) I don't know how anyone is defending the sox right now, they are hitting like s***. Tip your cap to the pitcher when he deserves it but today he deserved to get rocked and that didn't happen because they just can't stop trying for that god damn home run. I also hope they won't be doing this crap in the post, its gonna be a lot different knowing they can't lose so it will be a lot more intense but doing good going into the post wouldn't hurt. Well what we are seeing on this homestand is what they did in the 2000 post. They tried to hit homers and all you saw was popups. I think our 3-4-5 hitters had 400 pop ups during that series. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Yeah, the same J. Moyer with an ERA on the road of 6.79! I still wonder who's going to be in the DH spot tomorrow. With Everett's injury lingering, maybe we need to send Adkins down again, and call up Anderson. Great a soft tossing lefty who spots a fastball on the outside corner. Good lord. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) You make a good point, but I was talking about coming back late in games, like the 8th inning, like we were doing so often earlier in the year. We were outscoring teams by a ton in the 8th inning this season. There is also a big difference here. The whitesox have a great pitching staff that can barely make mistakes. They have to pitch to perfection or near it to get those great offenses out. They put a lot of pressure on our pitching. Do you think that even the medicore pitching that those teams put out are really worried about pitching to our hitters. Look at our stats, we are near the bottom of the league in BA and OBP. So we dont walk, we dont hit to get on base that much. That doesnt really put pressure on the other team. Our game is execution. We get a hit, we need to get that runner to 2nd and either move him to third or get a base hit. Lately we have forgone this and have tried to mash our way to wins. This is not the team to do this. We need to go back to what made us winners this year. And mastering the solo dong is not it. -

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) no he won 15 games in 03. He has very good stuff. That was 2 years ago. This year his era is in Felix Diaz/Jason Grilli land. -

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) You know what Pinero pitched a very good game and he is a pretty good pitcher. So tip your cap to him and move on. His ERA pre game was 6+. Thats not the mark of a pretty good pitcher. -

First question from Bruuce Levine to Ozzie. Do you feel that your team is trying too much to hit the long ball. Its so obvious that the mediots have figured it out. -

Another 6+ ERA pitcher who looks like Cy Young. 2 solo homers. And we lose to one of the worst teams in the AL. Its like the wayback machine back to 2000-2004 Chicago Whitesox. I cant wait for this homestand to be over. So we can get back on to the road and play baseball again. Watching this softball team at home is sad. -

Jenks sets them down in order with 2 K's. Nice work by Bobby. Its time to get some runs and do it against Guardado who we have had some issues against. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Offensive slumps happen for a weak or so, not 3 weeks or so. Well on the good news front we are near the league lead in homers. On the bad news front I think most of them are of the solo variety. In the offseason KW needs to replace the Konerkos and corpseballers of the team with guys who have high BA and high OBP and people who can actually hit with men on. -

I cant wait until their next away trip. I know its against the Yanks and BoSox but it gets them away from the Corpseball Field. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Alright Scotty, basehit now. We're playing baseball now.... This is more like it. Not everything has to be bashed to mars. Just string a few hits together. Keep the line moving. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) Ya, that's exactly it. :headshake :headshake :headshake :headshake Give me a logical explanation of why Freddy started the 9th inning against the tigers on the last home stand after throwing well over a hundred pitches and having a 1 hour rain delay. Maybe its because he was better than anyone in our pen, or maybe he is putting the wood to a relative of Ozzie. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Freddy in trouble, might be time to bring in Bobby and get a few k's. He is a relative. He aint coming out. -

Well Freddy is over 100 pitches. Most managers would say maybe he is tired and start to get the pen up. But then again, not many pitchers are married to relatives of the manager. Maybe he will start the next inning. -

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Pk w/ a single. Cmon AJ!! GIDP This is focking Corpseball. Solo Homers, and then nothing. Any other team lights up this turd. He has averaged at least giving up 4 runs lately. And he has a plus 6 ERA. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Some good news. 2 of the important teams that we are looking at are both losing. Oakland is down to KC and Boston is losing to Minny. The only other teams we'd really be interested in are the Yanks, who are winning, but that doesn't really matter, and LAA who hasn't started yet. We are going to get into the playoffs. The other teams dont matter. Its time for this team to learn how to string a few hits together without trying to park everyone into the stands. They need to get back to situational hitting. Driving the runner in. Its time to get this offense going before the playoffs. When 6+ Era pitchers can shut us down for most of a game its pretty focking sad. -

BTW official note to everyone. When DJ makes comments about Juan Uribe having a very long swing. Its pretty obvious. That he doesnt need to use a long swing to get the power. HMM I wonder what Juan is trying to do. -

Its the Whitesox retro offense now. Hitting solo homers and stranding runners. Your 2000-2004 Whitesox. We have too many hitters looking longball when they come home. -
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) here is a pic of konerko's wife: Now that image has been cropped down. Cool.
