QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) Mash up doesn't count either. That's just playing two similar records on top of one another, right? It's a bit more involved than that. He's not the kind of DJ you pay a few hundred bucks to work your wedding or bar mitzvah. This is him in action, you don't get to be house DJ at the Palms for nothing

  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) Ok. • Below average defense. I guess some might say average. I'd say below average. • Unreliable middle relief, i.e. set up men. • Slow on basepaths still. • Don't have the "it" factor to rally late or beat bad teams in an attempt to get 10 over .500 which would win this division. • 3 good starting pitchers, though what is up with Mark since the perfect game?; Jose and No. 5 very poor. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) Can't play defense, can't manufacture runs, poor overall team speed, weak back-end of the rotation, etc. Jenks and Thornton are the only dudes in the bullpen that have WHIP ratios under 1.30, but I'm not ready to say that our pen is severely flawed. It's pretty scary when you analyze the numbers, though. Dotel is walking damn near 7 batters per 9 IP. The Peavy and Rios acquisitions got me amped, but I'm still not a huge fan of our current team make-up. Looking forward to next year, though. For UZR/150 (most widely accepted defensive stat) the White Sox are 7th in AL, 15th in MLB and obviously going up with the addition of Rios in CF and Nix getting most of the time at 2B now. Beckham is also progressing defensively We are 6th in the AL, 12th in MLB in stolen bases, adding Rios helps in this category The aggregate ERA+ for our 4th/5th starters is just below 100 (league average). This is more than acceptable production from those slots, look around the league at what other teams get out of the backend of their rotation. When Peavy's arm returns to condition our already strong rotation gets better Our bullpen ERA and K/9 are both above league average When I think of severely flawed, I think of a team like the Reds. The Sox seem to be average to above-average in each facet of the game; an especially good starting rotation and a potent offense improving with Beckham, Quentin back and regaining health, and Rios hopefully giving an offensive boost from the CF position which has plagued us for 5 years. The current roster is miles ahead of the one earlier this year that was starting the likes of Betemit, Lillibridge, and Anderson every day
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Sorry if I misinterpreted. If I could summarize most of the things I've read, I'd say most realize we are a severely flawed team. I thought that was a correct interpretation. My bad if I am wrong. In the underachiever thread it was 90-20 people saying we were underachievers. I figured that it was safe to say "most" after reading that thread. Explain how we are severely flawed
  6. I would keep Contreras in the rotation. His ERA-FIP (fielding independent pitching) is the highest of all AL starters, meaning with a little help from the D he's more than adequate as a 4th/5th starter. He's got the lowest line drive rate and highest ground ball rate among our current 4 starters
  7. Flowers looked very competent to me behind the plate in the Futures game
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) And if they wait and Rios doesn't play much better, they either will have to take back a lot of money or eat some of the contract. They dumped Rolen's contract, if they dump this one, Ricciardi is going to be looking a lot better to his superiors. I don't believe Rios' contract needs to be "dumped". Vernon Wells' contract would qualify, but Rios is in his prime, an excellent defensive outfielder, and a good offensive player as well who just happens to be having some bad BABIP luck this year. Rios is still owed a lot of money, but the contract is fair. The only thing working against Ricciardi is the financial stability of other teams prohibiting his potential trade partners
  9. The Jays have the choice to negotiate a deal with only 1 team right now, or spend ~$2M more and keep Rios until the offseason and negotiate a deal with any team interested

  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) If Rios could put up a .800 OPS for the next 5 seasons and give you fairly good defense in CF, and you don't give up much for him, would you make the deal? Is this a trick question? Of course
  12. Rios has more extra base hits (40) than everyone on our team except PK (42) and Dye (41). Also 19 SB (Getz is our leader with 18) compared to 3 CS.
  13. A lot of organic shoppers probably can't tell the difference. When I'm at Whole Foods, I get the feeling some people are shopping there because it's trendy. Not because they care about taste. And that experiment could be total bulls***. Of course not all organic produce is created equal, and vice-versa for non-organic. They could've purposely chosen the ripeness or quality of their samples for dramatic effect. We also don't know how large the group they polled was
  14. Going by OPS, the White Sox have had a below-average offensive CF every year since 2004. This year is especially bad at
  15. Between '06-'08 Rios averaged about 4.5 wins above replacement which is worth around $18.5 million per year
  16. QUOTE (Stocking @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 12:19 AM) Clearly you didnt watch the video and I'd bet anything you couldn't tell the difference in a blind test. If you really believe that I'd bet anything you have a palate like a horse's ass
  17. Organic food tastes better to me. The difference in most fruits and chicken are especially noticeable. And if you buy Whole Foods house brand stuff on selective items (I don't buy my toilet paper, cereal, etc. there), it's not anymore expensive than the regular store
  18. I'm so desensitized, I can't do it without porn anymore. It has to be pretty hardcore too

  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) My mom has been bugging me for 15 years now for me to try getting on Jeopardy. She brings it up about 5 times each year. What is a disappointing son
