  1. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Mike Mulligan just announce that Brooks Boyer will be on just after the 2:40 update this afternoon with he and Buffoon, and the ever-boring Rick Telander. I'll be sure to catch it after reading your winning endorsement, lol.
  2. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Not so much Toronto because they are only 3 over 500 but Baltimore is going to be a real test for us. We're gonna see, during that series, just how good our staff really is. O's got a LOTTA stix on that club and 3 starters with good ERAs.....and even 'the chubster' Ponson is solid once in a while.
  3. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) I believe last season he threw 2 games against the Yankees. He won one game and should have had the win in the other, but the Yankees scored 4 runs late off of Rincon. In game one, he went 7.0 and gave up no runs. In game four, he went 5.0 and gave up one run. That's right, I remember now. Post season is a long time away, if it started tomorrow, I'd fear us the most.
  4. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) All of George Forman's sons are named George Jr. There are at least three. Our lacrosse team played theirs once. Yes and I think his daughter is Georgia....seriously. Magg's son is Magglio Jr. and his daughter is Magglia, I think.
  5. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) True. However, given I was an AL East or West team, I think I would dread playing the Twins more than the Sox in a five game series, purely because of Santana. Garland has been dominant for us, but I don't know if he will be "play-off dominant" if we reach that point. Hasn't Santana thrown against the Yankees in their 5 game playoff series? How has he done? Did he throw 2 or 3 games in each?...I don't remember.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) No pitching staff is better to break out of a slump against than the O's, they are terrible. I think we can face some bottom tier starters coming up, and that may drive us to pour in some runs. I was gonna say that none of the upcoming teams have good pitching, then I remebered that KC held us to what 6 runs in a 3 game series. Yikes.
  7. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Welcome White Sox Josh and Congrats on starting your first argument without even saying anything!! No s***, not sure how it got twisted, but talk about spiraling out of control.
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Also, the first Tuesday of every month none of the posters wear pants. ...just something to keep an eye on. .......and every Friday, the new guy buys everyone's lunch. Where's my sandwich Josh?
  9. WS Interactive makes my head hurt, it's too busy. This is the place to be. Welcome.
  10. I hope to see: Buehrle vs. Prior or Garland vs Zambrano at some point.
  11. Most interesting stat is that the Twins offense ranked 10th in '04. Also, there IS a lot of parity this year in the AL.
  12. :sleep QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) Lets see here. We've played Detroit, Minny, Cleveland, KC, Oakland and Seattle so far in the early going. Minny = winning record Sox record against = 4-1 Oakland = Losing record Sox record against = 1-2 Seattle = losing record Sox record against = 2-1 Cleveland = losing record Sox record against = 4-2 Detroit = losing record ( 12-15 ) Sox record against = 4-1 KC = losing record Sox record against = 6-0 Looks like the only team we made a losing team with our record against them is Detroit which I highlighted by adding in their record. Everyone else thats losing would still be losing even if they had, say, an even record against us. Nuke, I think I follow you here, but summarzie your point for me. I'm not awake yet, too many Cinco de Mayo Maragritas for me last night. :puke :sleep
  13. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) As much as I hate to read him, his question marks about the team are correct. Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko, Shingo are all concerns and people we will desperately need when we start facing the Dodgers, Red Sox, Yanks, Angles, etc. I love what has happened this year, but we all keep saying the hitting will come around when it gets warmer. Two series in domes would dictate it's time for our guys to start right now. Jag's column today was not bad, he is using some restraint.I hope yesterday was a big confidence rebuilder for Shingo. It was great to see that big smile on his face again. Plus, the NL teams we'll play this year haven't seen him as much (at all?), so that should be a slight advantage for him over Herm, maybe. If Shingo continues to struggle, I'd like to see Ozzie experiment and put Politte in more later inning situations. Thoughts?
  14. I don't have the numbers to back it up, but it seems like for the past few years it was the complete opposite. If we were down going into the 7th, you could leave the park or turn the tv off.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 5, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) I've said many times that the offense WILL get better, and I still believe that. But the sooner the better, that's all I mean. It's a reasonable concern to hold right now. I agree Jackie.
  16. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 5, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) I don't care how we win, I only want to see it continue. We eeked out some wins against one of the worst teams in baseball. But we're coming up against the O's, who can HIT. If we can win the same way against them, fine. But I think we're much more likely to win if we can score a few more. This team is loose and having fun, the offense will come, book it. I really understand and appreciate what Ozzie did with Shingo today by leaving him in. Ozzie was thinking long term. We'd already won the series, if he blew it, he blew it. But Shingo NEEDED that confidence builder, even if he was shaky and even if KC sux. Look at it this way, if Shingo can't handle KC, when the hell would be a good time to use him? Love that way he battled and came back on em. Good job Oz!
  17. Ok, this thread must die with 2 words: Fuk Kruk.
  18. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ May 5, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) The true test begins. After Tampa Bay, the Sox start playing some tough ballclubs (then the Cubs). They don't play an ALC team until June 3. I'm glad we played these s***ty teams when we did!!!! Bring it on!! I wanna see these almighty Blue Jays and Orioles.
  19. How many times in the past few years have we seen the Twins pull bulls*** wins otta their ass? I'LL TAKE EVERY WIN, NO MATTER HOW IT COMES. I'm ready for the East coast teams. Tired of the Central.
  20. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ May 5, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Getting the message out about world poverty, AIDS in Africa, etc. I'm not saying he isn't making lots of $$$, but that's for his music. He's shedding light on some serious social problems. He really doesn't have to do that. I admire his commitment. I agree with you.
  21. I think it's racism. They bust only the foreigners, because of course only they cheat. That's the real problem with baseball, too many cheating Latin players.
  22. I've noticed you guys post line ups, sometimes an hour before game time? Where do you find them? Thx
  23. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 5, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) cause arod got the mariners/rangers/yankees to the world series??? the guy's a jinx... ....and I'm glad he is, no one should sign for that much loot (Texas ) and then walk away cuz suddenly, he's 'tired of losing'. He shoulda stayed and rotted there and I hope he stays and rots in NY.
