  1. Baseball Tonight gave Jon 'the most important thing' of the night.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) For the reason alone that we do not rely on tourist and fairweather fan $$ to support this team is where I thank God Jerry and Co run this team. Any other team who DID depend on that revenue and didn't know how to make it work without it would be so far in debt the team would go under. There is a method to the madness of how they spend... ...not to open up the whole JR is a cheap bastard who doesn't want to win debate, but, it's one thing to run a team and not make it go broke and another to run it to win the WS. I do see your point though Steff.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) When I started forking over my own $$ for season tickets I used to think this way and it used to piss me off to no end hearing people say "why would you bother to waste your $$ going to that crime filled neighborhood to watch that s***ty team..." A good 6 years it took before I let it go. I agree a lot of folks don't bother to experience Comiskey for themselves and just listen to the news and other idots like Jay who don't go (or in Jay's case aren't allowed.. ). But then I think.. "hey.. better off without those fairweather assholes". This weekend will be a good test. 80K bought tickets to boo Sosa (and they called ME stupid for spending my $$... :rolly ) hopefully they will still come and enjoy themselves. And if not... I have no problem with that either since we got their $$ either way. I hear ya, unfortunately, fair weather fan's and tourist's $$ can add up at the box office. I'm not one of the whiners, I only bring it up here cuz we're among Sox fans. I'm aloof to it outside of this board.

  5. Unfortunately, most people do not think for themselves. This is why Sox bashing frustrates me. Enough people will read that kind of garbage and think: well, if a guy who is an expert thinks so, it must be true. It's a lot easier to go with what's popular than to try to figure out what you really enjoy for yourself.
  6. If you have to resort to the park and the unis as reasons to not like team, you are actually supporting the other side. As in, there is no legitimate reson to dislike the Sox.
  7. QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ May 12, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) "I understand booing," Lee said. "But when they're booing Dusty when he came to get Maddux, then they don't know the situation there. If you're going to boo, understand what you're booing." But doesn't D. Lee know that Cubs fans are the best fans in baseball? Wrong, the most knowlegable
  8. Wow, those first few lines sounded like my 9 year old, Cub fan neighbor. I can let it slide when he says it, he's 9.
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ May 12, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) Trade deadline and LAA of A are locks for the division: Would the A's trade Chavez and Dotel to the Sox? Would those players help the Sox for what their salaries are? I would LOVE Chavez on the Sox. Crede would probably "move on" if Boras has his way. What do you think. Peter Gammons errr.. I mean knightni What else does Oakland get?
  10. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 12, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) It says it has organic heating pads to keep it at body temperature levels for up to 8 hours on the site. Ah, Ok thx.
  11. Is there a baseball game on ESPN tonight? It should have been this one.
  12. I can't get onto the site, so I don't know the details of it works. One of the main clues that a guy is cheating on a drug test is the temperature of the urine. If you hand over a cup and it's not warm, almost hot, you're busted. How does this device heat the urine?
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) The Cubs pen will be the BIG difference in this series, I think... or at least I hope. ...if they need to go to it, yes I agree, but Zam and Prior are capable of going 9 innings with no problem. Gonna be close, hard fought games.
  14. WOW, not too far from me, thx. The wording on that statement is a little awkward, but I think I understand.
  15. For no one to know where he is and SOUTH AFRICA make this story very wierd. Is this another Andy Kaufmann type publicity stunt? If not, I hope he recovers.
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) I will admit, I'm worried about them facing Prior. From the way he's been pitching this year, that's gonna be a tough one. If those matchups do remain the same, then I hope El Duque can match him pitch for pitch, 'cause I don't see the Sox scoring alot of runs in that matchup. Both teams have been pitching well, but head to head, I give the slight edge to them in this series. Neither team is exactly tearing the cover off of the ball either. I expect close, low scoring games decided by an error or the few pitching mistakes.
  17. You know you're a die hard when the Sox are playing on the west coast, it's a tie game in like the 4th inning, it's around 10:00 PM Chicago time and the wife calls your name from the bedroom in 'that sexy voice' . Suddenly you have a really sore back and would "rather just relax".........for 4 nights/games in a row. That's a die hard...........no pun intended.
  18. You're a die hard when people use the term to describe you. "c'mon you know Joe, tall, short hair, die hard Sox fan Joe", "oh THAT Joe, yeah I know him".
  19. You're a die hard if you've ever cried over something involving your team.

    Win a Date

QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 11, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) good point jason... 22k would get you plenty of hooks in vegas... If a guy can drop 22K for a date with Carmen, I bet it's not his last 22K. He's been 'shopping' in Vegas and now wants to sit across from Carmen, I like this guy. Why only between the ages of 15-20? Is it because her midget hubby doesn't want a man close to her?
  21. YES! Politte=set up guy Hermy=closer Everyone else is trying to earn their jobs back.
