  1. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ May 22, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) The White Sox do have a weakness looking towards the post season. They lack a dominating bullpen. We saw that in yesterday's game. You can't simply ignore the numbers of past years for the guys in our pen. 12L: SP 6, RP 6 It's not lack of hitting that has kept us from being better. We have held the lead pitching into the 8th & 9th in nearly all of the games we've played. If we were to trade Thomas it should be for nothing less than a low risk dominating relief pitcher. Too soon to tell. Politte had his 1st shaky outing yesterday, that will happen. I still believe either Shingo or Marte might regain form. Let's wait it out.
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) To give Rowand a break maybe? Rowand has been struggling at the plate lately, although Carl has as well. I wish Rowand had gone after fat boy yesterday when he plunked him and really, really thought AJ was going to. Maybe we should put Timo in to rush Prior and get them both otta the game.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) No, because Farmer takes that role. Yep, if Farmer ever does a game by himself, it'll be 3 hours about Ed Farmer.
  4. I can't remember who said it when Maddux was approaching his 300th win, but they really put it in perspective for me. 300 wins more or less means either 20 seasons with 15 wins, or 15 seasons with 20 wins. Think about that for a second. We might never see that again.
  5. Rooney, knows his s***, speaks his mind, doesn't make many outlandish statements, is not an arrogant prick.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Not to mention, what if either Everett or Dye get injured again? Who would we DH? Depth is important. It's wise to keep all 3 if possible, one of them is bound to be hot at any particular time.
  7. NOOOooooo rain delay!! I start work at 3:00 and wanted to catch at least 3 innings, lol. I'm 10 minutes from Wrigley and it looks like night time right now.
  8. All of you are right, this won't happen. 1. Insiders will tell you that 'the people who really run the Sox' want him to retire in a White Sox uniform, period. 2. Why trade with a potential AL playoff team? 3. It's too early to determine what our needs are, or what we'd want in return.
  9. What a day! Sox win Twins lose Cards win Scrubs lose ........and Dye rocked LaToya, LMAO! No matter what happens today, I'm very happy with the way this series turned out.
  10. QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 21, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Gross. Try: The Arcade Fire The Faint Broken Social Scene Iron and Wine Nick Drake Elliott Smith Clinic Bob Dylan The Rapture Air Aimee Mann Son House Howlin' Wolf Beck Belle and Sebastian The Beta Band Bjork Portishead Royksopp Erlend Oye The Kings of Convenience Blur Bright Eyes Buckethead I could go on forever... Is Portishead pronounced Portis-Head or Porti-Shed? Have they put out anything new?
  11. Now that the heart of the batting order is coming around, I see no major must fix holes on the team. I see potential problems, but let's give it another month and see what happens.
  12. He should've played it on the hop, only one run scores and they might've won that game.
  13. Funny, I heard Gagne for Kerry Wood+ others.
  14. I know it was only one game, but I told you guys that Everett would not kill us in the field. And, c'mon how about that double into the gap? He won't do anything spectacular, but if it's routine, he'll be fine.
  15. Good luck B-Mac. We won the series, so chill out, rear back and let her fly.
  16. I respect your opinion, to each his own. I've been to Wrigley a few times and happen to think that the view beyond the outfield is pretty ugly. THose buildings are looking dated, kinda cheesy 70's architecture. Compared to the backdrops at some of the newer parks, Wrigley is not even in the top 10. I wish the Cell's outfield backdrop was our beautiful downtown skyline. It's the only thing I'd change.
  17. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) Agreed, if we win tomorrow, we can look at Sunday as a pleasant surprise if we win and no harm done loss if our rookie loses to Prior. Win tomorrow and we all we feel plenty happy about the entire series. We win tomorrow and we can kick our feet up and relax on Sunday, I don't feel the need to sweep the Cubs. The only potential problem is if B Mac gets shelled early and we either have to leave him out there to rot and kill his confidence or go into our pen early. Gotta, gotta win tomorrow.
  18. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 21, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) I was at the game today. Cubs fans easily outnumbered us 5-1, but we brought the noise. What were those cub fans supposed to cheer about today? We were right behind the plate, but underneath the 2nd deck, so we had no sun and the wind was blowing right at us. It felt like 30 degrees. This was my first wrigley visit ever too. I gotta say, the backdrop is beautiful. The experience, however, is alot better at the cell. Lots more room, more fan-oriented. What a great day. what backdrop?...those few old buildings, I think one of them is a project. and what's beautiful about it?
  19. QUOTE(Nokona @ May 21, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) I still think it's possible he flip-flops with Garland. bad idea, especially if we win tomorrow.
  20. I'm gonna beat a dead horse here, Contreras needs to step up tomorrow so that we don't burn out the pen tomorrow. If Cotts and Politte are not used tomorrow, they can both go 2-3 innings a piece on Sunday, if neccesary. If we win tomorrow, screw Sunday, we have bigger fish to fry.
  21. QUOTE(bogie @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) Man, why against the Cubs? i don't like the fact that we have to throw someone out there in their first major league start against the Cubs. Don't we have other options? This makes us a big underdog Sunday especially against Prior. People have suggested moving Garland up so he can pitch Sunday and having B Mac pitch Monday. I say leave it as is, why risk screwing with Garland who is doing so well? If Count steps up tomorrow and we win, let B Mac start, if we lose Sunday, we lose, we've already won the series at that point. Saturday is a huge game suddenly.
  22. We won today. I expected Prior to beat Duque and I think B Mac will wet his pants Sunday. Tomorrow will decide the series, Count better step up....big time.
  23. Assuming this is all true, I don't like it. We need Duque and since everything is vague about his problems, I expect the worst. B Mac might not be ready to dance on that kind of stage. As much as we all like him, it's a BIG demand. Tomorrow's game will decide the series.
