What's the difference between a knuckleball that moves and a knuckleball that doesn't? Oh, that's it.

Sox vs Angels Game Thread
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Haeagar could probably get away with throwing a few more fastballs in certain counts. It isn't as noticeable to detect as I previously thought. Not that I'd expect Haegar to exceed a ratio of 10/1 knuckle to fastball/etc., but atleast he can somewhat deceive hitters if the pitch is called. I was thinking about that today. So how can he hide the fact that he's throwing the fastball? When Chisoxfn said he can throw in the mid-80s plus, I thought there would be no chance he could throw that without totally giving it away.

Charlie Haeger to likely start Wednesday
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 8, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) No, he stated it here at the same time. You may have saw the thread title earlier with question marks and the word "rumor" in the title. I changed it to that earlier this afternoon, because we had no confirming evidence either way. However, it wasn't worthy to close the thread, until we determined the fate of the news one way or another. Uh, no. I saw the first post of this very thread, in which he was asking for someone to confirm his story. You can call people out if you announced it, unapologetically. If you make a thread asking for rumor-supporters, it doesn't count for that much, even if you don't title it "RUMOR: etc".

QUOTE(Beastly @ May 8, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) And so my fellow soxtalkians, this is why we let people speak here on the board, and wait before we can prove them untrue and believe EVERYTHING THAT IS INACCURATE is farfetched. Have a nice evening, everyone. This board is getting pussified fast today. In the end, he was right, so the doubters have to eat it. But he didn't call anything, he just asked, so he doesn't have much to crow about. In the end, noone's got much to talk about, so this long argument about who should be apologizing looks pretty dumb.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ May 8, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) OK everyone, pony up here - if Count misses more then a couple starts, does Brandon eventually move to the rotation, or has he already been "Cotts'd"? To be honest, I haven't liked the decision to make him basically a setup man. Last year he excelled in long relief and frankly, he hasn't looked that great in the late inning role. Plus, he would already be somewhat conditioned to move to the rotation if he were still a long reliver. The dude was our rotation insurance! I know, I know, he is too valuable as a reliever now to be moved. SFF Only if Count's out for a LONG time. Buehrle came out of the pen at the start of his career, I have no problem with it. I don't think it means anything about his starter prospects.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) I heard that too. They said it's back not hip, and it still wasn't 100% he is going on the DL. Hell we might all just wake up tomorrow and Jose is fine and Haeger is still in Charlotte. Then The Fifty will be demanding apologies back.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 8, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Haeger throws the knuckler (obviously), a mid to upper 80's fastball, and an ocassional slider. Also, here's an image of him pitching (you can see it on our story at FutureSox, but if this works right, it will also show up in the post). Huh. That's pretty hard for a knuckleballer.

So what's the scouting report on Haeger? He throws 90?, 95?, what?

The title needs to be changed again. True lies? Why isn't this up at chisox.com yet? Is there a link anywhere?

Easy way to start an argument in Chicago.
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 7, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) I don't like Lou Malnatti's. I like Giordano's and Edwardos. I also like Domino's, since I work there And there you have it, DePlod. Anyone who suggests Domino's>Lou's, they only mean trouble. It's like saying Danielle Steele>Charles Dickens. What more can you say? Enjoy yr Lou.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 7, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) I don't like Lou Malnatti's deep dish. If they didn't top it w/ tomato, it'd be perfect. His brother is also a teacher at New Trier You really don't have a soul, do you?

I'm having some Lou's out of the freezer tonight. Bada bing. I worship Lou's, but, at the one I usually go to they've been cutting down on the amount of sausage on a pizza. They'll put the old wheel-of-sausage on it if you ask, but you have to ask now. Anyone else find this? Too many High-Rise Men in the city, complaining about beautiful, glorious cholesterol...

Victor Zambrano of the Mets...
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 7, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Wasn't that back when Jim Duquette was still the GM? Also, this might force the Mets to move Mike Pelfrey quickly through the system as well. Yes. Many people think that trade was the reason Minaya was brought in. There was also the BBTN rumor that Zito would be available for Milledge. I don't think the Mets would do that, just throwing it out as another possibility.

Lou's, but Giordano's is great too. Then Gino's East, but it's definitely a cut below those two. Home Run Inn slots in that 2nd level, as well. The original Uno's/Due's aren't bad, but there's less cachet value there -- everyone thinks they've been to Uno's. With any of these, try to go to one of the older establishments in the chain. The newer ones are sometimes equally good, but it's a bit more hit-or-miss.

DLee
I just picked up DLee off waivers in a public league. I figure he's likely gone until after the ASG, but c'mon -- how can I pass that one up? (I only had to drop Shannon Stewart -- yeah, yeah, okay, why SS ever? B/c my ba SUCKED. I started off playing Wilkerson + Francoeur + Morneau.) Am I thinking about this right, or will he miss too much time to even be worth a roster spot? How long are you willing to wait on a player? (For a non-keeper league.)
