As an 18-year-old, Gio has a better fastball, a better curve, and probably better command of both those pitches than Parque had. He has some work to do, but I think yyou're going to see a different body-shape from him next year. He had some "baby-fat" and some weight to "shift". He's not skinny because of metabolism, per se, but working with strength and diet guys in the offseason should turn him into a much more muscular kid. He's not "skinny" like BMac was, by any means. He's not tall, true, but his frame is sufficient to be built like a Tim Hudson, who is more muscular than most would give him credit for. Gio is going to have to learn a 4th pitch, probably, and improve on his change, maybe change his grip to get a little better movement, but with him, it's all about health. Other than height and left-handedness, the Parque comparison really holds no water at all.

DAMNIT! Then what's that "cutting" pitch you throw in the high 80's? Are you just taking something off your fastball and getting more natural movement on it? Sheeesh. I forgot to ask you about it when I was in W-S, and look what happens! LOL! BTW, the Chattanooga announcers on the radio announced you as 180 pounds, lol! Congrats on that 200th K and good luck in the playoffs.

Yeah, we're getting obsessed. He was gettinng squeezed, but he left a couople too many fastballs center-cut.

McCarthy sounding good, gave up a couple 1st inning hits but got out of it. Chattanooga announcers absolutely TERRIBLE. Jason Hill picks up the 3rd hit of the game, still in the top of the 2nd. Audio Feed Here Play-by-play guy ripping on Jack Black and Tenacious D. What an old codger. Color guy claims he cracks him up...

Landed in the middle of the concourse in Right Center Field.

Didn't he say the question was from a couple weeks ago, prior to his promotion? It was a prepared answer... lazy...
-
If you're going to write a national prospect beat, don't you think you should be able to cultivate enough contacts or talk to media relations guys and at least get the bare basics right?
-
He saw McCarrthy walked 2 guys and figured he had better keep pace... LOL!
-
This isn't a matter of 'fatigue' with Kris. He had the whole off-season and then blew-up cominig in. I just hope it's not his shoulder, but there are a lot of parallels to the whole Danny Wright 'we can't find anything wrong' BS...
-
I don't believe Honel's issue has anything to do with "arm strength"
-
That's true, but you can't baby these guys too much, or they come up and pittch like Judy.
-
munoz had gone non-stop for about 20 months. i don't think there's that worry with McCarthy. He's going to get the winter off for the most part.
-
By nature, guys don't pitch all thatt often in the aFL. Too many premium pitchers, so they just get a few innings each and rotate. 5 IP ini an outing for a starter in the AFL is a lot.
-
he last lost on June 5th. he's out of the game now, though, 7 IP, 9k's... Meaux strikes out the side in the 8th. Still 8-1 Barons.
