  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) I still think the A's are going to collapse and the Sox/Tigers could both make the postseason. Even if that happened the Angels and Rays are in the mix.
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Alright now a bloop and a blast. So we can have the Royals walk off in the 9th against Thornton.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) 10-96 vs the Tigers and Royals this year...that's amazing. How did he ever get 10 hits?
  4. Let's not leave Youkilis out of the suckage discussion.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Leyland would probably resign. Doubt he'd be fired, they respect him too much in that front office...they would rather push out hitting and pitching coaches than change players or the manager, IMO. They're getting back Victor Martinez too next year. What are they going to do with Martinez? Is he DH / 1B with Fielder, or does he catch and bump out Avila? I can't believe that they are going to continue to put Cabrera out at 3B.
  6. Deduno's peripherals are interesting. Not the types of pitcher you usually see on the bump for the Twinkies. I like Dunn being back in the lineup. I think.
  7. I would have gone maybe Marinez, Omogrosso or Jones here, but whatever. Definitely not Reed.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) Proud of Ventura for pulling Sale. He would have given him another inning earlier in the year. If by earlier, you mean like three weeks ago, then yes.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) Why didn't Robin save Myers for the 9th? He only threw 6 pitches...he could probably go 3 innings at that pace.
  10. QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) WHY Because we haven't walked enough guys.
  11. I don't like the Cabrera Jones matchup. Of course, I could say that with just about every pitcher.
  12. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Gavin Floyd is a bad pitcher. I don't think there's any crime in acknowledging that we won't be favored tomorrow. No need to generalize beyond that. He's a league average pitcher at this point. He has good stretches and bad stretches which average out to be completely average. I'd rather have him out there than Liriano.
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) The Tigers have hit 35 foul balls tonight the White Sox have hit 7. I do nto know if tht means anythign but it just seemd that the Tigers made Jake work while the Sox are not making Fister work. I would say he lacks swing and miss stuff but he does have 9 Ks, 8 swinging.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) Wait, when my MLB.tv went down we were leading 2-0. What happened? Hansen kicked a field goal.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) Just to be clear, if a pitcher doesn't get Cabrera out 4 times per game he's an overrated choke artist? No. Pitchers who bomb out against a team's biggest rivals 3 times in a row + have a 10+ ERA in the playoffs and lose critical games at the end of the season (for the Padres) are choke artists.
  16. Not only has he given up the lead, but he's going to burn through nearly 100 pitches through 5, meaning the bullpen will be taxed for Floyd tomorrow.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) Sigh. So much for Big Game Jake again. Javy Vazquez II
  18. I like Guthrie being out. Of course, some genius is going to get the idea for trading Guthrie around in September and having the Sox face him like 5 more times.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) Seems the only way to score will be a walk-off homer today. Unfortunately, that's probably in the head of every member of the Sox and they will whiff or hit pop ups. Singles and doubles, boys.
  20. Let's score one in the bottom of the 8th and close it out. Breaking ties in the bottom of the 8th is always disheartening - you are immediately putting the other team in a do or die situation.
  21. For a team that takes the least walks in the league, our pitchers are sure throwing a LOT of pitches against the Royals.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) 6) Batting Olmedo 2nd See #1.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) De Aza CF Ramirez SS Wise LF Konerko 1B Rios RF Pierzynski C Viciedo DH Lopez 3B Beckham 2B I don't love Ramirez in there today....he's 1 for 25 against Guthrie. I'd actually prefer a Lopez-Olmedo-Beckham infield, believe it or not.
  24. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) You must be a big fan of the win stat. If that is the case, Nate Jones should get some starts since he is 7-0. 1.000 winning percentage. He cannot lose. I'm a fan of all stats. Wins are just one of them. Four guys who have started with a lower ERA on the road: Axelrod (2.54 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) - only 4 starts Peavy (3.39 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) Quintana (3.55 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) Liriano (3.80 ERA, 1.55 WHIP) - only 4 starts So, no one has more wins than Sale on the road and only two guys - Axelrod and Peavy - have better WHIPs on the road. Not sure anyone can have a lot of confidence in Axelrod - it's been shown that his second appearance against teams is usually bad. Quintana and Liriano are melting down. I agree that Sale hasn't been as good on the road as he has been at home. But he's better than every replacement option.
