  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) Haha! #2 was the autodraft with 10 teams. #1 was live draft with 12. Hard to compare an autodraft with 10 to a live with 12.... 12-team draft a #1 position is #1, #24, #25, #48, #49, #72, #73, 10-team draft you are #1, #20, #21, #40, #41, #60, #61.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) Which one is yours? Was hoping for a few more comments.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) I've got a couple teams for you. QB Jay Cutler, Jason Campbell RB Adrian Peterson, Willie Parker, Tim Hightower, Fred Taylor WR Reggie Wayne, Vincent Jackson, Chris Chambers, Chris Cooley, Percy Harvin QB Kurt Warner, Eli Manning RB Adrian Peterson, Marion Barber, Derrick Ward, Julius Jones WR Steve Smith (Car), Brandon Marshall, Vincent Jackson, Bernard Berrian, Zach Miller One was autodraft, one was picked. To me, #2 is clearly superior - a Tier 1a QB, Tier 1 and 2 RB, Tier 1 WR, one Tier 2 WR and Two Tier 2a wide receivers (Marshall / Berrian). Team #2 is pretty ridiculous, actually. I guess you take AP #1, Marion Barber #20, Steve Smith #21, Kurt Warner #40, Vincent Jackson #41, Brandon Marshall #60, Bernard Berrian #61 if it's a ten-team snake draft. Kurt Warner is a steal at #40, as is Brandon Marshall at #60.
  4. My team is NOT #1. #1 as it suggests, had the #1 overall pick, which means team #1 also had #20 and #21. Which I think is a great spot to get a great WR/RB/QB combo or a RB/RB/WR combo.
  5. Ten team league, standard scoring (20 yds rush/rec=1, 40 yds pass=1, All TD=6, INT=-2, +2 bonus for +40 yd TD), start QB 2RB, 3WR, D, PK Only top 4 at each position posted, no d/PK posted: Team 1: QBs- D. 6. It is eventually going to come out that KW didn't really want Rios on the waiver claim, but was just trying to block him getting traded. No question in my mind, and that J.R. is probably pretty upset about it and won't let KW make any more waiver claims like this. Oh well, Greg Walker will fix him
  7. Charlotte Game (Peavy) for grins and giggles
  8. So has any team ever thrown a perfect game and had one thrown against them in the same season? My guess is no. Another achievement for the Sox this year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) Chris Young saids "hi!" Chris Young was traded for major league talent (Vazquez), a starting pitcher that threw 200 innings for 3 years. I don't know what you call Tony Pena, but major league talent doesn't come to mind. And he's a 50 inning guy.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 04:04 AM) He's also hitting .235. Chill out people. He also has had only about 20 ML at bats.
  11. Just another 1st and 3rd nobody out zero run inning....
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) When? 3 years ago? Exactly. Sandy Koufax has pitched in a lot of big games and come through, but his arm fell off and he's 75 years old. Not a reason to put him in the rotation. If Freddy's done, he's done.
  13. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) No one is every really toast against the Sox offense. They quit on games so fast it makes your head spin. This.
  14. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Also, Meche is toast out there. No one is every really toast against the Sox offense. They quit on games so fast it makes your head spin.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) So, the Garcia experiment was a failure. MLB.com says his fastball sat 87-90, with one at 91. So his velocity isn't that bad, and his changeup was 80 mph, so that's a pretty good separation from his fastball. I'm not totally ready to abandon Garcia, but I also wouldn't mind seeing Hudson.
  16. Have to win this one tonight because tomorrow is an L. Peavy can't get here fast enough. Having to sweat through 2 out of every 5 games is not going to do it.
  17. He is not going to be around for the full five, I think. 72 pitches is even pushing it for a guy who only has pitched in the minors on rehab.
  18. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) I'm not watching the game, can I get a play by play? http://www.espn.go.com/mlb/playbyplay?gameId=290818104
  19. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 12:26 AM) It's only for four years though, depending on how the contract is structured, and Strasburg's performances, he could still end up making the $50m they were after over 6 years. I'm curious about this. The rules are generally that those contracts are still subject to the 6 year club control. I guess this takes him through his first year of arbitration. So he possibly could earn $35-$40 before he makes free agency, but in those last two years, he's going to have to demonstrate he's earned it.
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) For $15M, I think the Nats have done very well there. They stuck to their principles, and came out on top. Now they've finally got something to build around. I'm kind of surprised it was under $20 million myself. The Nats clearly won here. $15 million is a record, but it's only marginally higher in real dollars than Prior's deal. I hope he works out for the Nats.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) he has a .706 OPS at double A. Yes he's only 20, but exactly what part of his game suggests big league callup during a division race right now? IMO there isn't a guy more overrated in our system than Viciedo He's the most hyped guy in our system currently with his spring training exposure, his signing over the winter, etc. But not overrated. A 20-year old holding his own in a pitcher's park in a pitcher's league full of prospects is pretty damned good. To me, he has a long way to go, but his arc seems pretty good. I'd like to see the guy spend the offseason losing at least 20 pounds and working on defense, defense, defense. If he's hitting the same in Birmingham in 2011, then he's overrated and a bust.
  22. This team can be painful to watch with a leadoff double or a runner on third and less than two outs....2005 team was automatic.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) Interesting http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2583716.story Very interesting. I like Hudson's potential, but I'm not sure a start right now in the midst of a pennant race is the best idea.
  24. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) Does anyone know why Stone isn't in the booth? Hawk said he has the weekend off. Probably in his contract. In the alternative, if it is more interesting, there is a warrant for his arrest in Alameda County for a hooker he strangled when forced to work with Harry Caray.
  25. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) Is it Ventura or McDowell? Mike Huff I have no idea why he is the color guy. Minor and forgettable career. Some relation to the Sox organization?
