At least know we know what it takes for a group of Bears fans to stick up for the Packers.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) Nope. Oh man, that show is fantastic. Regardless of how accurate or not it is with the period setting (I have no idea, since I wasn't alive then), it's a well-written and acted show. Too bad it was only on for one season.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) They captured the 80's well in the movie Boogie Nights, I'm sure there are other examples, as well. Cloths were very baggy, ultra colorful, hair was terrible, etc... For a while there, colors like hot pink and neon green were worn by guys and girls alike. You ever watch Freaks and Geeks? That was set in 1980.

QUOTE (TomSeaverFan @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 11:38 PM) Sometimes I get a thrill out of watching old TV series on cable that my mom and dad told me they watched as children. I have examined many episodes of Mr Ed, Leave it To Beaver, Andy Griffith, All in the Family, Dick Van Dyke and Dennis the Menace and The Munsters. I would say I have laughed out loud at some things that took place on The Munsters, Dick Van Dyke and Mr. Ed; I have been entertained but not overwhelmed by Andy Griffith, did not like Dennis the Menace and have been intrigued but somewhat bored by Leave it To Beaver. Any of you like any of these series? Andy Griffith is fantastic. I'll still catch MASH when it's on too. Slightly later than those other ones I guess, but it ended before I was born so...it counts! I liked the Americans. It's also going to be an interesting look at Reagan America.

Call this Hoosier fandom if you want, but I'd really like to see the Bulls draft Victor Oladipo. Plays with great energy, awesome defensively, relentless worker...the kinda guy who fans love right away. Like a smaller but quicker Jimmy Butler, I guess. If he continues to play like he has, Oladipo will probably end up in the later half of the first (though I did see one mock that had him as a late lottery pick).

Important win for Indiana tonight, needed to care of business on the road against a rival tonight. Doing it that emphatically was just a bonus. Ferrell is really coming on, I love how he's asserted himself offensively the past few games. Great defense too, I'm hoping he's on Burke and Oladipo on Hardaway. There's gonna be a mismatch with Hulls somewhere, but that's almost the norm now. I think Ferrell can actually do a good job on Burke. Burke will still get his, but I'm hoping Ferrell can contain him. Need a huge game from Zeller.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) Im not sure there are many Purdue football fans left in the world. Aw man, then I'd have no Purdont fans to make fun of! Even though my four years at Indiana were literally the worst 4 year stretch in Indiana Basketball history, we split the Bucket series in football while I was there. Better than usual!

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) These bills (and there's several in different states) are meant to prohibit public schools from having any discussion or instruction on LGBT at all. They're anti-LGBT bills and this is just another ridiculous measure thrown in. There was that big story in Rolling Stone last year about the Anoka-Hennepin school district up here that had a "Don't say the word 'gay'" policy and how terrible it was. Teachers were effectively restricted from saying anything helpful, and the rash of LGBT suicides in the area was at least partially attributed to the policy.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) Yeah, it's getting crushed. But I've seen movies that are universally praised that I think are awful (Little Miss Sunshine is my go to), so i'm sure there are exceptions to terrible movies as well. I've also seen universally praised movies that I think are terrible but HOW DARE YOU LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE WAS FANTASTIC. When Paul Dano finds out he's colorblind and can't be a pilot? f***ing hilarious. The entire movie is f***ing hilarious. And smart. Not trying to change your mind about the movie, merely expressing my undying love for it. I should probably go watch it again.

Justified last night, hot damn! That was a good one. I laughed out loud when Russell said "Chickens are a great investment" (or something like that) when Raylan was walking away, and Raylan turned around and shot him...just like he said he would. And the addition of Ron Eldard has been phenomenal.

FutureSox Top Prospects, 2013 Pre-Season
I'm a big fan of Walker as a future leadoff hitter for the Sox. I'd like to see him cut down on the Ks since his walk rate is already pretty good, so he has the eye for it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 07:20 AM) I hate to be like this, but I hope they write the baby Jaime out of the show. I dont like it at all, the whole giving valium to a baby part is just not funny. Joan Cusack is being wasted in her role. The valium stuff doesn't put me ill at ease, it's just an unnecessary subplot. Sheila and Jody could and should have stayed relevant characters, but the addition of the baby is dumb. I think the Escalade driver/dude watching Jimmy could become a bigger character. I've liked his few scenes so far.

Read somewhere that Kentucky and North Carolina have agreed to a home-and-home. Too bad, as IU-UK would have been fun. I'm hoping we can get a home-and-home with Louisville still, or maybe Kansas. Georgetown also might be a good fit, especially with IU's recent recruiting success in the DC area.

Shameless with the best episode of the young season so far. The walk-up to the teacher's door, and when she opened the door the first time, were both fantastic. Also funny when V's boobs randomly came out during the fight. Plus, there was an awkward sort-of sex scene in the back of an Escalade.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) Wouldn't be so sure. Anyway, I don't think they'll lose at home to NW, so you're saying Sunday. Don't see it, but that'd be great as we'd be back in line to make the tournament. I think we'll have to make a lot of 3's, which we haven't been good at lately, to even have a shot. I think the past few years with the couple of court rushses we had, those were slightly different. Admittedly, they were probably a bit much, but we were at least unranked and still generally struggling at that time (I make an exception for the Kentucky game -- that was a totally deserved court storming). Since we've been ranked #1 already this year, and are one of the contenders for a national title, there's NO need to storm the court if we were to beat the #1 ranked team. If it happens, I apologize on behalf of sane Hoosier fans. Though, that would at least mean we won, so that would be sweet. I'm not sure who the favorite is. I would assume Indiana because it's in Bloomington, but it would be a very small spread. Gonna be a very good game, Michigan is probably the best team in the country right now. The one reason I'm feeling at least mildly ok about it is that Michigan doesn't defend the 3 very well, and that should definitely work in our advantage, or at least I would hope so.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) This goes way back to an argument about Crean. Ever since then he has made comment after comment about Wisconsin. That's what I'm saying, I don't know what "comment after comment" you're really talking about here. It hasn't been mentioned that much. In general, he's pretty clear in not liking Wisconsin, you're pretty clear in not liking Crean. Not a big deal. No reason to dilute the NCAA thread with Indiana-Wisconsin squabbles, let's go back to laughing at Duke for losing by 27 the other night. Or talking about whether Illinois will shock the world and beat Michigan. I actually want Michigan to win, because then they'll be #1 for College Gameday in Bloomington next Saturday. Otherwise I'd want Illinois to win.
