  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:20 AM) lol Why would I be crying? I find your little schtick amusing and since you like to think you know a lot, its fun to dominate. To be fair to He Gawn, I remember him talking about Wisconsin the last time IU played them (obviously) but not sure when I can before that. 50% is quite a bit of hyperbole. Just because Wisconsin isn't as slaphappy as Purdue doesn't mean they also aren't overly physical. It's a pretty well known reputation that I was aware of well before I even went to Indiana. And I'm not really sure what you "dominated." You guys just went back and forth with one person saying Wisconsin is overly physical and the other saying they're not as bad as other teams.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) I told you not to make them out of balsa wood. You should never make anything out of Balta's wood!
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) And how are they going to catch you? They're going to arrest any locksmith that unlocks these phones.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 10:36 AM) Hmm not sure if your statements about Wisconsin are true. They run a swing offense (based on flex cuts) that that relies on movement away from the ball. They almost never should have an offensive set where 1 guy dribbles iso and there is no ball movement. You may not like Wisconsin because they dont run up and down the court and take quick shots. But their half court offense relies on as much, if not more, movement than the Princeton offense. If you are interested here are some links to how the offense works and is dependent on off the ball movement. http://www.coachesclipboard.net/BoRyanSwingOffense.html http://coachingbetterbball.blogspot.com/20...-breakdown.html http://coachingbetterbball.blogspot.com/20...nd-options.html http://www.mensbasketballhoopscoop.com/bas...ball-clinics-2/ I still think it's the movement, but even if not, here's the bottom line for me: I've watched a lot of Wisconsin games and a lot of Northwestern games in my lifetime, most of them under Bo Ryan and Bill Carmody. I'm not a huge fan of either style, but between the two, I'd much rather watch Northwestern.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) Their style of play is worse than Wisconsin. It's unbearable to watch. Teams just have to be patient and not get frustrated at the slow pace. That's why Illinois lost, and that's why Minnesota lost last night. Disagree. I'd much rather watch Northwestern than Wisconsin. There's at least a lot more movement going on with the Wildcats usually.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) Just saw that they haven't been #1 since 1992, whoa. I suppose that's not THAT big of a surprise. I don't remember them being much of a title contender from the late 90s until a year or two ago. Some ranked teams, but nothing special.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) I know the US qualifying group is easy talent-wise, but how many other countries have to deal with this? Grant Wahl‏@GrantWahl US State Department considers San Pedro Sula (host of Honduras-USA WCQ) "world's most violent city." Can't wait. Yup. Passed Juarez for most murders/100,000 people. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpo...BGpvP_blog.html
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) Why would you want it? You'll then immediately lose. Yeah. When is the last time the top few spots have rotated this often? It seems to be a lot more than usual.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) Anyone ever go out with a girl and feel like she isn't being herself or is trying to hard? Does that make sense? Or does this girl actually dig me? Odd. It makes sense; I know what you mean. In my experience, it usually means they do indeed dig you; they're so worried about impressing you they act like something they're not. It can be awkward to get them to act like themselves though (or just happens over time...depends), and sometimes it just doesn't work.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) You must have me confused with someone else. Cue the Court Storming Elitists, but even I think it would be dumb here. Blow em out like its no big deal Eh, I see your point, but I wouldn't have any problem with them rushing the court. They just blew out the #1 team in the country. Rushing the court has already jumped the shark in general, might as well let the kids have fun with it. Hah, after Brandon Taylor just fouled out for Penn State, you could clearly see Pat Chambers tell him, "f*** the refs, f*** 'em. Don't listen to them." Indeed, IU has gotten the benefit of the calls more than Penn State tonight. Not like it came close to making the difference in the game, though.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 05:43 PM) Go Team Playing Duke! Agreed!

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Justified reminding me why I hate snakes Hah! Yes. The scene at the beginning with the snakes was great. New Girl was probably the funniest yet last night. Nick as an uber Chicagoan/superfan was awesome.
  13. Want soup? Feeling lonely? Have I got the solution for you!
  14. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) well... plagues are also earth-made typically... unless they're a plague of locusts made by that Jesus guy. but earth typically regulates itself when something like this happens... (see: bubonic plague, ice age, global warming, etc) That's true; some poor phrasing on my part. What I meant was, plagues are not common/natural to the environment they're in...other wise they wouldn't be a plague. At least in my head that's what plague means, anyway. ... The more I think about this, the more I agree you and shack's infestation point. Humans really are multiplying, to the point the Earth won't be able to sustain us. Sounds like a plague!
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) Kaner looks energized. Hope he keeps it up I definitely meant to say Kane has been playing with energy so far this year. Saad looks good too, though. Still young.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 08:32 PM) He's absolutely right. I agree, but it poses an interesting philosophical sort of question: how can humans be a plague upon Earth, even though we are as a much a part of earth as anything else? A "plague" makes humans sound like extra terrestrials or something.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) Saad is pretty impressive. Been playing with great energy so far this year.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:26 PM) This Almeida guy on Nebraska is so awesome. He looks like a tall version of Hamilton Porter. 314 pounds of pure Brazilian beef. Hamilton Porter...if only he had red hair! He had that steal stolen from him too...come on, give it to the big guy!
  19. QUOTE (Real @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) a lot of people are saying some ridiculous s*** about GGG (horrible defense, no head movement, both of which aren't entirely accurate despite what the mouth breathers on HBO tell you). I give him full credit for the win and I'm one of the few that thought he looked excellent against a guy that decided to run away from the 2nd round on I thought he looked damn good, but I'm just getting into boxing.
  20. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) No idea, but it's maddening. They only use it when it's set up in advance for football or whatever. There has to be a better reason than "BTN is stupid" but I don't know what that is. Sadly I think that might be the reason. I've never exactly been impressed with BTN's production quality.
  21. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) Liberals sure are falling in love with the military apparatus once they came around to the idea that they could use the military to kill anyone who doesn't go along with their plans. You've been seeing a lot of talk about it, especially after Sandy Hook. "You wouldn't stand a chance against drones!", "Your pesky AR-15 stands no chance against our superior firepower"... its pretty disturbing. I'm totally cool with gutting the military budget, at least on an abstract level -- they employ so many people right now that it might be unwise for the economy to just lay half of them off.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) Wow, this dude for Nebraska is huge. Yeah, I remember looking him up and he's only listed at like 270 lbs. I think they were short 50 lbs.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Do you really think it would be empty? I could see plenty of tourists staying there instead of downtown. People come visit friends/family in the area, and they spend more time on the North Side, it would be more convenient than commuting from the Loop. I agree. Wrigleyville may be absolutely nuts on gamedays, but it's not like it's a ghost town the rest of the year.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) No you still cant. However the conference is down again, way down. Come on, let a man dream! The Hoosiers SHOULD actually be better this year. Tre Roberson comes back, and that adds a whole other element to our offense that was missing under Coffman/Sudfeld. The only big loss comes on the defensive line, because Adam Replogle and Larry Black Jr are gone. They were our only legitimately adequate Big Ten players on the line. However, we add David Kenney and Darius Latham to the line, both of whom will likely start from day one. Our offensive line loses the center, Will Matte, but everyone else last year was a freshman or sophomore. So in short, we have increased odds of making a bowl game this year! Maybe has high as 10%!
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 07:23 AM) You could always live in Yakutsk. Ew. No thanks. When I woke up today it was -9. At the end of the day, me b****ing about cold weather is just that -- b****ing. It's not like I spend more than a few minutes actually outside (ie, not in my car/apartment/school/etc.) in this weather anyway. I'm definitely thankful to have a roof over my head in conditions like this.
