  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 08:32 PM) That's why you don't slide into first headfirst Gameday for me so I assume Bourn is the one hurt?
  2. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) I can't wait to watch Flowers strike out 3 more times today. I can Let's go Peavy
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) You must be new here... Exactly. You just have to accept that some alwys think the sky is falling after each loss or a bad streak. I looked at the standings today and we are only 2 games out of first after 11 games. Things will get better I am certain
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 03:47 AM) This is not meant to inflame anybody. I was studying Kepp's stats from the past. Is this guy really a starter at the big league level? Seems like a super sub type guy to me. I think that was what i said also. I thought that was the role he was going to play, but apparently he raised himself to starter level during the spring
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 11:22 PM) It's only fitting that Youk and AJP are tearing the cover off the ball. When things are going bad all things look that way and it's easy to second guess for sure. I am counting on this just being one of those stretches and am happy it's real early in the season
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) Farmer and DJ were suggesting that the opposition has the scouting report for our hitters with RISP and that the Sox hitters have failed to adjust to it. Most certainly can't be because we are playing poorly by any measn. Not certain we need any help from the other team to do that right now. We are in a bad stretch
  7. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Remember that time when Flowers started the season with 2 HRs in 2 games, and looked like a MLB hitter? AJP has two homers also. I ain't saying I am just sayin
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) Considering he probably saved at least a run last night with a catch or two...you can't give up a run by being careless. Got to give you that. He did look pretty decent last night
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Fly ball to the wall, bounced off of Viciedo's glove after he stood waiting for it for like 5 seconds. This is unacceptable. Plus I do not like Steve Swisher's son very much
  10. We got a couple quick runs so that has to be a good sign right?
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) They aren't going to be on the next Sox post-season team in my view. Get something for them. Keep Rios for sure.
  12. QUOTE (jhonnydanks @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 02:50 AM) Step away. Drink a beer. Get 'em tomorrow. The sky is not falling. Quite the collection of fatalists we have here. This is a good short and accurate post. Q did great and even absolutely fantastic. I watched the game and was really impressed. We had some chances. Alexei totally screwed up that bunt. He knew it and it hurt to see the disappointment on his face. Crain just had to get that pitch in a little more. It made no difference whether it was a righty or lefty pitcher against switch hitting Swisher. Better average from the right side and more power from the left. I think I would take Crain there too. I think what hurt the most was losing the game to SWISHER. It is a long season and things will even out
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) Sale, Quintana, and Santiago have been solid If that continues with Santiago in the rotation, I will consider the season a success. Deal Rios and Peavy at the deadline. Marty you always test the bounds of reality Why trade these guys? This isn't Miami
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:03 AM) 4-2 start at home, Sox looked pretty good. 4 losses in a row on the road Sox looked pretty bad. Does it suck ? Yes it do ! But I don't see anything besides the hitting with RISP and OBP that has been terrible. Ok those are 2 pretty big things. I guarantee the hitting with RISP will improve . We suck at taking walks so not much hope there. Now you might say the defense looks bad but has it cost the team much if at all ? Starting pitching's been OK . Relievers not bad at all. Played the Nat's well. Kept the games close. Tigers got swept in the World Series and the Nats might be there this year so no shame in losing 3 in a row in their ball park. Now losing 1-0 tonight sucked. Quintana pitched his ass off. Even Sale would be hard pressed to match 7 innings, 1 hit, no walks and 7 K's. Lots of Sox hitters struggled but it's not like it was Chen out there who sucks against everyone but the Sox. Masterson's been on fire since his first start. He's 3-0 now with a 0.69 ERA . I might not post a lot so some of you might not have a feel for my general over all attitude. So here it is. I'm about as die-hard as you can get. When I say die-hard that means I will not fret over losses early in the season. I will not die nor pronounce the Sox dead after a 4-6 start to the season. I look at the good things happening and think the bad things will turn around but not unreasonably so as witnessed by what I said about our OBP. So chin up ,have a stout heart and die hard. You got it man! People who think we are doing poorly this early look at favorites like Toronto and LAA. We can do this
  15. We don't have any time for these losing streaks. We must win all remaining games starting tonite
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) Yeah, but the Sox can't beat them. It ridiculous to think we'll go better than 8-11 vs the Tigers. Sox have to go 50-38 before playing the Tigers. Hopefully the Sox players don't share your pessimism
  17. Reminder to out of town folks that the Sox and Indians game is on WGN tonite. 6 PM CDT. Hope it doesn't rain 2 inches again in Cleveland
  18. Our starting pitching couldn't get past like 5 innings and I can't say our relief corp did much better. No hitting and we lost our 2baseman to injury. Let's not play in Washington anymore. Enough said so now let's get on a winning streak
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 02:01 AM) Why, again, did we not make a bigger deal of Alexrod inexplicably being given the 5th starter spot? It's one game
  20. Amazing to me how this injury became Beckham bashing by some. We will miss that defense for sure and his offense was looking better too. Hopefully he is back healthy in less than the 6-8 weeks predicted
  21. If a guy could pick Rios every game he might win this thing. I am going with Rios for today though
  22. Let's make sure Haren has an ERA at the end of this game at an even 14.00
