Sox spring training Catch All thread
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 4, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) I actually liked that fluff piece, and usually I don't. Good to know Fukudome has a friend in the clubhouse I agree. It is real good to see the players bonding with each other. I am hoping for a good season and the Sox surprising people

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) There was apparently a funnel cloud and quite a bit of hail over the ballpark at Arlington today. The Sox will be there Friday. I have a cousin who just moved to Texas and is living in a suburb of Dallas/Ft Worth. He said they had two funnel clouds in the area and grapefruit size hail

Ok Paulie' I am holding you to it

Danks named Opening Day Starter
I think arguably the best thing of his start against LA was NO walks. I am ready for peing day. Pitching has been pretty good so far for the Sox

3.26 spring training game vs LAD
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) Dodgers win 4-3. Sox should have scored 6-7 runs early. Sox with three runs and 13 hits. That does not equate well. Stults probably lost his chace to make the relief corp with the big club, if he was on the radar at all. Liked Danks effort and that Jones still impressing.

ST: 3/25 vs Giants
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 11:04 PM) Back to back singles off Thornton. I have a bad feeling about him this season. He was doing just fine this spring. Reed may be the one to worry abou and I base that on his just being rushed and folks putting pressure on the kid. It wouldn't be the end of the world if he started at AAA this year in Charlotte's pen.

ST: 3/25 vs Giants
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) I don't think he'll have the heart to quit, but I still don't know that I'm convinced his heart is in this. I have wondered that also. He was brought on just last year I think by KW as a consultant and already is the manager. I like Robin and hope he stays, but I would not be surprised if he doesn't

ST: 3/25 vs Giants
Lilli with a double so call him whatever you want, Dunn walks on 4 pitches and Konerko singles. Game tied bottom of 1st. Ginats get their run as a gift. Escobar with anwrror (youth) and Humber with a WP. No hits for Giants I am thinking that Brett Lilibridge becomes an impact player for the Sox this year even more so than how he did last year

Santiago to be the closer? Hmmmm....
Regardless of the final decision it is nice to be in the position where you have four potential closer. It will be intersting to see the final decision for sure.

Sox spring training Catch All thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) Yes, and he threw over a lot because he tries setting guys up. These days, most pick off attempts at first base are called by the dugout. Maybe it was Ozzie's attempt to try and combat the slow releases of White Sox pitchers. Very possible. I think that pick off attempts are an effort of the pitcher obviously to keep runners close and to help the catcher if a steal attempt occurs and to keep a runner from having an easy two base advance on a single to the OF. Catchers can call for throws over to first for sure, but the bench does control the moves. Now in the Sox case our pitchers don't seem to be the best at keeping that runner on first close and we probably did have the bench calling for more moves to first

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 05:54 AM) AJ's arm. Granted AJ might not have the best arm but the pichers have to help keep runners close, which they didn't except for Mark Buerhle. I wonder what the percentages were? Mark threw a lot because he had such a great pick off move.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) he can say whatever he wants as long as he's putting up zeros. 12 straight innings of no run ball with a 9 K/9? love it. I think so too. Probably Peavy is talking because he feels good and is doing good. I hope that bodes well for the Sox

Sox vs Royals ST game thread 3/22
QUOTE (forrestg @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) I'm not sure can Beckham be sent down. I am assuming his quick rise to mlb left him with a few. I just don't know the rules on options Why send him down?

Sox/M's ST 3/21 game thread
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) @MDGonzales: Viciedo out of lineup (pulled tooth). Dunn in LF (!!), Gallagher DH. So a pulled tooth is the reason for his poor performance with the bat!

Couple excellent pitching outings though the last couple days or so. Peavy and Sale. I also like this Santigago kid and Reed isn't looking too bad

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Saladino doesn't get over to 1B on a bunt play. I still don't know why he was added to the major league camp. For seasoning and an atta boy from Ventura who seems to like the kid

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 03:28 AM) That ranks right up there with the Melido Perez rain-shortened no-hitter, lol. I am so giddy right now. It is nice to win though regardless of wheter it is early in ST or not

3/17 vs Mariners
QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 17, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) Jake threw 5 innings of no hit ball. Good stuff. The entire day, but this in particular seems very encouraging
