  1. I plan on being in Seattle to see the Sox beat up on the Mariners May 6-8. Anyone else going to be at SAFECO? I was there last in 2005 and saw the Sox go 2-1 versus the Mariners
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Exactly. It is something to talk about. Get's our hopes up that's for sure. Nothing wrong with speculation
  3. It's too early to give up on any of the teams failed relievers and there are more than one
  4. We will win it all. I feel strongly about that amnd not both ways either. Things in the pen will get turned around
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) I guess, but it sure would have been nice and maybe even set a tone for the season to have Mark and Danks simply finish the ninth. There's something to be said about nice, clean baseball victories in April. But no, their arms would fall off so you can't let a guy finish a game. I admit I was hoping to see both finish too
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) No Thornton sucked again you keep defending him. I don't know who to blame. I still think though you win and/or lose as a team
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) Not sure, but, in hindsight, certainly more logical giving someone with a track record of success the closer's role rather than gambling on Thornton. Most likely, Putz's injury history scared them away from a long-term deal. UNFORTUNATELY, "All In" has become the philosophy for the White Sox bullpen now...letting all the runs in to score and lose the game. Putz blew a game a day or so ago for Az too
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) That's it. That's really all the Sox can do. By the way, in the old days today would have been a complete game easy win, as would Mark's the other day. It's simply absurd this pitch count crap. Eight innings of greatness, then you have to take the guy out lest you ruin his arm. Utter crap. I think the pitch count thing is really a reaction to the huge salaries don't you? Protect the investment kind of thing. I agree that it may be taken too far though. Different game then it used to be. I remember the 1967 Sox for instance having 20 complete game pitchers on staff. Now some of the best starters have none over the course of a year
  9. We need that Fuentes guy
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) It's amazing this team has the record it has. Agreed as we should be better. Aty some point after another bullpen meltdown I would think management needs to be looking at this fiasco of a pen. There have been some bad breaks with bloops and erors, but an ace relief pitcher pitchers over those htings. Here they implode. I want to believe they can get straightened out
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) I'd say there is a near-zero percent chance the bullpen stays this bad. Too much talent in there. I just hope the come around sooner than later. I agree
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) Eh, game threads have always been about the same LOL. I remember the stuff from 2005. You would have thought we were in last place
  13. A K by Dunn. Hope he is back in hitting shape soon
  14. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I'm as frustrated as anybody but to hand a pitcher bases loaded, one out and the RBI single is a bloop after he got two guys out... not going to pile on Thornton for this one. Sale with three straights hits allowed opened the door-not Thorton with a bloop hit allowed. We have seen enough of those too and that's just the breaks
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) One week ago Thornton sucks play sale. This week, Sale sucks, use Thornton. Thus is the life of soxtalk. How about we just get someone to finally work period!?
  16. I just logged on and see our bullpen blew another save in the 9th
  17. Alexei looked real happy and I am happy for him. Sox win!
  18. QUOTE (DukeofChicago88 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 12:46 AM) What a catch by Juan Pierre! MERCY!!! Really?
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 12:45 AM) 45 pitches, 1 out in the 2nd. Who's this Grey guy that's going to pitch tonight? No clue. I think he was brought up just to fill in in long relief and take the shellacking if need be
  20. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) Good way to get over a bad loss is to see Dunn back in the lineup. Love me some Dunn. K in his first at bat
  21. doesn't look as if EJax has his command tonite - yet anyway. Gave up a run and is running high pitch count
  22. Let's go Sox! Rah-Rah-Rah!
  23. Mark Buerhle got puled after throwing 99 pitches in a super outing through 8 innings. Ozzie said he wanted to protect Mark, and I would guess our other starters too by not extending them too much this early. Right or wrong that's the reason. It would have been a different story if the bullpen did its job and Juan Pierre caught the flyball for an out. Next time around it might work out. Right now because it has happened twice in a short span of time it's hard to swallow.
