  1. I was able to meet Waddle and Silvy a while back and they're both real cool guys and pretty much the only ones I'd specifically tune into 1000 for. With that said, 670 turns into pure bulls*** regardless of who is on the air if there is any contentious story going on
  2. One of my teams started the Jordy Nelson-Nate Burleson tandem of death today
  3. If I'm picking one, I'm going Salty in this scenario. I'm happier to potentially be wasting money on Salty than to spend precious talent on Wieters
  4. I didn't mean for that to necessarily be a comprehensive list and I tried to go with guys with the most track record to avoid argument. I wasn't necessarily trying to make a point beyond it clearly being a really good thing to be picking in the top 5 if at all possible
  5. FWIW, Melky was always s***ty until that season. Peralta has had a smattering of decent seasons before last year, so if they think he only used last season then they might think that it at least isn't an impossibility that he has had good offensive seasons drug-free before.
  6. I blame the black guy in the photo for bringing up race
  7. Under what cirucmstances are you guys listening to so much sports radio? At work? On the way there/home? Just for funzies?
  8. Current NBA "superstar" caliber players (either are now or once were) and where they were drafted: LBJ - 1st, 2003 (high school) Derrick Rose - 1st, 2008 Kevin Durant - 2nd, 2007 Kobe Bryant - 13th, 1996 (high school) Chris Paul - 4th, 2005 Dwight Howard - 1st, 2004 (high school) Carmelo Anthony - 3rd, 2003 Dirk Nowitzki - 9th, 1998 Tim Duncan - 1st, 1997 Dwyane Wade - 5th, 2003 Kevin Love - 5th, 2008 James Harden - 3rd, 2009 Stephen Curry - 7th, 2009 Deron Williams - 3rd, 2005 Russell Westbrook - 4th pick, 2008
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:46 AM) You dont have to be a fan of Asik, he was an asset that they let walk for nothing. And Gibson is getting paid starter money as a 6th man, while this team is snug against the cap with no wiggle room. The way the whole thing broke down pissed me off. You dont spend all season saying you are going to re-sign Asik and then let him sign a poison pill deal like that. And even worse, Asik became more than a mere serviceable player last season. We didn't let him go for nothing, we let him go in order to not pay him $15 million next year. I think it is presumptuous to say that we didn't try to sign him or arrange an S&T
  10. Let's name some of the different towns in my congressional district and think about how absurd it is to think that we all have similar interests. Rockford, Dekalb, Princeton, Rochelle, Dixon, Ottawa, Peru, Morris, Streator, Dwight, Pontiac, Fairbury, Watseka, Gibson City It would take several hours to drive Gibson City to Rockford, but of course they're still in the same district!
  11. I constantly call my Republican rep. I didn't vote for him last time, but I did vote for my old Republican rep. (Tim Johnson). Johnson was quite the moderate, something like a unicorn. Good guy, weak handshake. My new guy, Adam Kinzinger, is pretty inexperienced and more conservative. He has voted for compromise on a few big votes, though -- like the fiscal cliff -- and I always make sure to let him know when I notice that he has done something like that.
  12. I love my parents because they are constantly replacing TVs for no good reason and I reap the benefits since they push them off on me. I have this 42" LCD, a 32" LCD, and I will inherit another 40"+ TV in the near future. I'm going to be moving into a house at some point in the medium term and it will be great to have so many nice TVs. My girlfriend also has a 32" that I bought her. None of them are super nice, but all of them are thin, big, and they look just fine showing HD. I love a big TV and new tech, but I don't need too much more than 720p and a big screen ATM. I think I'll be getting a 50" plasma next that has 1080p, but it has a flicker problem which is why they exiled it (god forbid they call Samsung to fix it)
  13. I have an older, 42" Samsung LCD. It's nice, but just 720p and it really struggles handling blacks. Also very heavy, though that is mostly a product of its time as it was by far the lightest my family had ever owned at the time.
  14. Starting Cam over Rivers cost me a win in the league where I really needed one. Cam played well, but Rivers played great. I've been dangling Rivers on the trade market in that league and nobody is interested, which is strange to me.
  15. Also, never underestimate the s***tiness of deals NBA teams are prone to make
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) Losing Asik for nothing combined with all the money thrown at Gibson is the worst recent move I'm not really a fan of Asik and the Gibson deal isn't horrible, but I think we could have kept him more cheaply if we let him reach the open market. I know that we want him on the team under most circumstances, but the money takes away from otherwise really good cap position.
  17. In a league where you're essentially just waiting for a superstar to make your team good, GarPax have done a really good job of leaving us in a position where we should have some talent around. Butler, Mirotic, Charlotte 1st, perhaps Snell, plus the higher earner Gibson are all nice pieces to have around when you're building the team back up. Gibson is probably the worst recent move.
  18. I might think about that. You're looking at a lineup with: (Point Guard)-Lamb-Butler-Gibson-Adams or (Point Guard)-Butler-Snell-Gibson-Adams or perhaps Mirotic in for Gibson. That would leave us with a very young, very athletic core and I'd be pretty excited for next season with Mirotic and a rookie(s)
  19. The current one is going to be discounted and that thing is an absolute beast. I do hate that Samsung design, though. I can't understand why they make all of their products look like cheap children's gadgets. The new Note 10 is a step in the right direction.
  20. I don't love rooting for losses in a lottery system. With that said, trade Deng and Noah if you can, let the kids play, and root for them to win -- they'll never win enough for you to feel bad about rooting for it.
  21. It isn't all that surprising -- we saw what happened last time Rose went down. The entire team was so deflated we lost to the f***ing 76ers in the playoffs with a one-game lead. There is such a confidence/motivation aspect to basketball that it won't be shocking if they tank for a while...or perhaps the entire year.
  22. It's troublesome and bad -- but these things can be forgiven. I don't expect Prince and Avisail to be buddies, but a lot of guys (especially athletes) are pretty sympathetic to infidelity. Even if guys really don't like what he did to Prince, there's no reason he shouldn't fit in in this locker room. One assumes he has probably learned a lesson. Sounds like he did a s***ty thing to his wife, but that's his and her problem. A lot of pro athlete couples have an understanding about these things and others don't...they can figure that out. Avisail is just a kid and if this is his big youthful mistake, I'll deal with it.
  23. Couldn't watch tonight - how did Snell look? Him starting tells you all you need to know about our direction. Counting numbers aren't bad for him
  24. Why are LED TVs so popular if plasmas have better picture? I'm not very well read, but I certainly have observed the plasma tends to look better.

    JFK Assasination

I listened to a lecture from a Kennedy historian and he was incredibly convincing that there is no conspiracy. The interesting thing is all of the stuff is LHO was up to for much of his life. He was basically a radical Leninist communist and undoubtedly wanted Kennedy and American capitalists in general dead. He lived in Russia, which was no easy task. He got a 1-week visa there and asked if he could become a citizen, but was denied. He then attempted suicide due to his despair over not being able to be a citizen of the USSR, and after being treated there they allowed him to become a citizen. He then realized that maybe being a citizen in the USSR wasn't that much fun - he complained in his diary of essentially having enough money and stuff, but nothing to do or spend on. He came back to the US where he was a malcontent and pro-Castro activist (Fidel Castro). Given his propensity for mental illness and obvious preference for USSR and Cuba, it is not hard to conclude that he wanted to kill the POTUS. He had been a Marine so it isn't surprising that he can shoot a gun well, either.
