  1. The White Sox have been a far better team to be a fan of than KC over those past 8 seasons and it looks like a neutral proposition for this season
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Yes, but it seems like tonight isn't just a normal night off due to him just missing a game. injury?
  3. Hector pitch types by year, notice the drop in screwballs (SF) from the year he was a starter to the year he was a reliever -- he then adds some cutters and a ton of changeups
  4. This is just what they asked for when they did this. This is why it's dumb to take out a good starter and make him a reliever. I know DA has been fine, but both of them need to be starting somewhere
  5. Some tough breaks, but HSINARP
  6. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Brandon McCarthy as well, spot starter to MR to long man to proven workhorse in the Texas rotation proven workhorse* *never healthy for entire season in career
  7. I'll go ahead and acknowledge what a good job Dunn did on that DP, a lot of 1B could have let that ball go for fear of the runner
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) Chris Sale Dayan had done quite a bit of movement too, levels and positions
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) Cause he had no feel for it coming out of the bullpen. Of course, that could just be a BS excuse he used. In his starts in 2011, he threw 30% screwballs (76 mph on average). Since, he has averaged 6% and 5% respectively. He has replaced it with the changeup that Hawk and Stone both think is his screwball but doesn't move. His changeup gets hit all the time.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Yep, and he said he doesn't have a feel for his offspeed stuff. Santiago has all but begged to be a starter. He has thrown practically no screwballs since he first went to the pen and he said it is because it takes him quite a while to get used to it -- he said on the radio that it was absolutely the move to the bullpen that got him to start throwing his changeup (low 80s) instead. Glad we took his best pitch away.
  11. Here to say that this is what you get when you put a starting pitcher in the bullpen. He will walk guys when he doesn't have an hour to warm up like he's used to. We saw it all last year.
  12. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ May 31, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) I wouldn't dispute this, but a few years ago Jaws analyzed each of Cutler's 26 INTs in the previous season and came to the conclusion that all but one (I'm pretty sure it was all but one) was Jay's fault. I know that when I watched the games, the announcers said on several occasions that the receiver fell or didn't run a good route, but Jaws concluded somehow that each INT was Jay's fault. I'm not a Cutler apologist, and I get totally frustrated watching him force balls into coverage, but the idea that 25 of 26 INTs were his fault was laughable when you consider the offensive line and weak bunch of receivers he had prior to Marshall arriving. http://beargoggleson.com/2010/02/12/breaki...-interceptions/ I do recall that. Jay has had some of the worst luck with receivers screwing him into picks -- I have a feeling Jaws' criteria was unless the throw was a perfect idea that turned into a pick, it was Jay's fault.
  13. Yes, dog is fairly submissive. Was the runt of his litter (he's a boxer) and then spent part of his puppy years around some real big dogs as well. He practically backs down to little dogs, now. Love the guy, though!
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) Rockets want Dwight. They can have him
  15. Conor Gillaspie was never a bust or even close to it. He had played about 25 games in MLB, many as a pinch hitter, before coming to the White Sox. He always posted fine numbers in the minor leagues. A system that is meant to save players like Conor that are stuck behind somebody forced the Giants to move him if they weren't willing to play him, that's all. The jury's completely out on him at this point. He looks fine. Conor looks exactly what he looks like: a guy who will post a .750 OPS, have good, consistent ABs, and play good defense. He may dip below .750 here and there and he may rise to around .800-.825 if he gets hot. He's a good talent, it can't surprise anyone that he looks like he belongs in his first look at this level. He's also not an elite talent, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that he doesn't look like the next Robin Ventura.
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) I'd be surprised if he gets more than the MLE. I think everyone knows his limitations. Agreed. I really can't fathom giving him THAT much either, but there's always someone trying to give out a bad contract in the NBA
  17. George makes more horrendous passes than anyone I've ever seen. Sheesh
  18. LeBron elbows Stephenson in face. Foul on Stephenson.
  19. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) Yeah, Collison had his moments with them too. They just need a guy that isn't afraid to shoot it and can create his shot a bit. I brought up Nate because he should be in their price range and we saw what he did for the Bulls this year. I'm very curious about what the market will be for Nate.
  20. Stephenson gets mauled, no call George touches Allen, foul
  21. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) Indiana just doesn't have enough players if one of George/Hill/Hibbert/West is way off. Besides Granger coming back, signing Nate Robinson would be a huge boost for them. I remember how much a guy like Barbosa could help when he was scoring when he was there
