Steady state cardio is great and something I will always do, but doesn't touch the body composition and metabolic effects of resistance training or interval training. Some mixture of course will probably work best.

We don't need Derrick Seriously though, I'm interested in how our rotation will look when Derrick is back at full strength. Derrick would be getting 35+ at this point, leaving not much time for a backup PG -- and would this person be the scoreless Kirk or Nate, who has been a very valuable part of the bench at this point? Teague? At the 2 we've had satisfactory play from both Rip and Belinelli, so I don't see much PT for Kirk there. On particular nights, I can see Jimmy getting play there as well. Speaking of Jimmy, he's got to get more minutes. This should benefit Lu who was at an upper limit for minutes anyway. Taj is finally starting to look like a good basketball player as well, so I don't see any drastic changes in the front court despite how good Carlos has been playing. Now that we're about halfway through the season, the team once again looks pretty damn deep. We're deeper than we've ever been at 2 and 3, I think our PG backups are at least as good as CJ+JL3/whomever. The main loss was Asik, though I'm dubious that his exit has hurt us much. Nazr is nothing special, but last night he showed us that he can come in and foul somebody 4 times and leave...which was the bulk of Omer's role anyway.

Likewise, I don' t want you to feel bad just because you have a bad day with eating -- in the long run, a single day/meal here and there just isn't a big deal.

He was acting more lucid for sure, but I didn't get the feeling that it was supposed to be neat and tidy like your friend suggests.

I like cinnamon roll (natural), apple pie, and several others. A lot of my friends are obsessed with coconut cashew, but I've never had it. They've also recently released a line of peanut butter cups (!) and crunch bars. They aren't exactly authentic candy, but they knock it out of the park for what they are. These have a bit more fat than their protein bar counterparts, but still 20g protein at about 240 cals for one crunch bar/two peanut butter cups. The PB cups are really good. questproteinbar.com for more info, I'm sure they make the case better than me. Also, these are now sold at GNC so you can pick one up without too much markup before picking up the entire box. Don't think GNC is carrying the candy line yet, though.

This is obviously a slow process, so don't obsess over it. In short, if you don't eat 100 grams of protein a day, definitely look into supplementing protein. If you are up over 200 grams (I highly doubt anyone does this without trying to do it), you are at and probably well beyond the point of maximum benefit. I work in the dietary supplement industry (specifically, a company that targets weight lifters) so let me know if you want any help/don't want to get BS'd into buying a bunch of crap from the guy at GNC. There is a big part of the industry that shorts the stated amount in protein products, so I can at least point you in the direction of reputable companies and retailers.

Steve wisely pointed out bodybuilding.com. Just ignore their supplement advice, they're trying to profit off of you. They think every weight program requires a good 100 bucks of products to make it work, but dont waste your money.

I'd say that there are probably more parents that over-coddle, under-critique, whatever you want to call it than ever before. But it's not as if being critical of everything your kid does is necessarily the best way to do it, either. Most people respond best when they are given a mixture of criticism and praise. Let them know what they're doing wrong and let them know what they're not. It's pretty simple, it's about moderation. BTW, I came from the "everyone gets trophies" generation, and everyone knew that didn't mean s***. We'd keep the trophies because shiny things are cool, but we wanted to win. When I was 6 or 7 years old and we played in a basketball league that didn't keep score. While there are some benefits in trying to keep things from getting over-competitive (is this for the parents or the kids, by the way?) I know that all we'd do after the game is argue about who would have won if the score was kept and compare our self-kept statistics, etc. You can't make people noncompetitive even if you try -- though I'd say making them feel like losers too much rather than winners too much is more likely to have a negative effect.

I've gotten to study German cinema and it is surprising that almost 30 years passed before they're cultural products started to deal with the Nazi past. There's a reason: everyone was worthy of blame. A good movie, available on Netflix, called The Nasty Girl does an awesome job of dealing with this. Subtitled obviously, but a really great film that sheds some light on this stuff. Based on a true story too -- the real woman it is based on is not nearly as charming, I must tell you
