  1. I forgot about Jordan Danks, he's definitely in my Top 5.
  2. Haven't they decided to move kickoffs back to the 30 anyway?
  3. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) No, the exception can't be combined with other salaries. It can only be combined with cash or picks, neither of which have a salary value for trading purposes. Okay, gotcha. And could there be a subsequent deal to add to the TPE, or can that not stack as well?
  4. Any salt and vinegar is a good start. The Lays dill pickle is excellent. My tastes always come and go though... Is Vitner's still around? I used to love those.
  5. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Basically, if they traded Korver and took on no salary, they'd get a trade exception that allows them to add $5.1 mil (Korver's salary plus 100k, can't be combined with other salary figures) via trade. So in theory, they'd be able to have Memphis sign-and-trade Mayo to the Bulls at a salary starting at up to $5.1 mil and send them the trade exception and maybe a 2nd rounder to make it work. So if we traded extra players in the S and T then Mayo's contract could be as large as those additional players' contracts plus the TPE?
  6. My feeling is that I like some of these guys, and we have several guys that make very nice 2-5 prospects, but none that really thrill you as Number 1's just yet. My number 1 would be Simon Castro because I think he will be pitching effectively in the MLB very soon. Hawkins is talented but has only had a handful of at-bats out of high school so far and they haven't been pretty. I'd put him 3 after Mitchell. Barnum to follow, then Molina, then Hernandez.
  7. Can someone explain to me exactly what is gained by getting the TPE? How does that help us get Mayo?

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) + Poland and Netherlands, IIRC. + the TBD planet that Greg lives on
  9. Man, one outing sure changes everything with Septimo. And no thanks to Juan, I don't want to see him anywhere but 3rd base and we can cover that position just fine. My solution to all of this contract stuff is to just win the World Series. If we win the WS, we'll bring EVERYBODY back and perhaps even add on top of it
  10. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 10:27 PM) There isn't a chance in hell you'd be able to sign both of those guys, nowhere near enough cap space. Your post made it seem like you were referring to the collective as eating "most" of the cap, not just one. My bad. Why can't the Bulls sign three max contracts when Miami can?
  11. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Kevin Love isn't a free agent for at least 3 more years, and if you trade for Dwight you wouldn't have any assets to get him in the event the T-Wolves decide to trade him rather than lose him for nothing. There are several problems with this approach: 1) Every Dwight trade scenario has them taking back at least one bad contract. So even with Noah, Deng and Boozer gone, you're probably going to have a fair amount of money tied up in Rose, Gibson, someone like Jason Richardson, and a few draft picks. 2) You would need to add one really good player or two solid ones (one of which needs to be a center) to be any more than a 5 seed. 3) At least for next year, the two best players on the market wouldn't really be options. Dwight would have theoreticallly decided that he doesn't want to be a Bull and they're not going to sign another PG in Chris Paul. That leaves guys like Bynum and Harden as the best options, who are solid but not top-10 players, and they'd both eat most of their cap room to get another solid player. That's basically my problem with this; if they do it and Dwight decides he isn't staying, they have to pull off some kind of miracle to avoid being the Cavs 2.0. Rose-Harden-Richardson-Gibson-Bynum would be a pretty damn nice lineup.
  12. f*** you Ron Washington. Unless someone tells me that Dunn asked out of the game, that was very much horses***. Several chances to get him in there.
  13. WRs coach more or less openly criticized the previous management of Hester, saying they always installed a "Hester package" but never, ever used it in season. Basically said there was no effort to integrate him into the offense, which made him an average receiver (what you'd expect from a guy playing the 3rd-4th receiver spot)
  14. Forgot the game was on, any CWS players do anything yet?
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Yep, get him in Chicago, let him see the UC (and let him play half a year without Rose where hell be the man), and then see if he wants to stay. As long as you dont have to move Noah, it really shouldnt matter. You're going to have to move him. Nobody is safe.
  16. Trust me -- if you pair up Rose and Bynum, soon everyone will know Bynum's name. The reason Bynum isn't as well known is because he's young, he has Kobe, Pau, Metta, etc on his team, and he hasn't been traded to Chicago yet. Getting involved with a trade that would make some see him becoming part of a "Big 2" or something like that would jettison his notoriety.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) Obviously Mark Buehrle getting the f*** out of town was the best thing to ever happen to the White Sox.
  18. All I can say about the current healthcare system is this: My parents both in their early 60's, have no health problems or any significant past health events, but are both slightly overweight. They make just over 100,000/year over 30% of our income goes to health insurance, and it doesn't even pay for preventative care like "wellness checks," gynecologist visits, colonoscopy, etc etc
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) They literally can't. They cannot offer more than the $5 million MLE, and that's if Asik isn't extended. Forgot about stupid rules in my anger towards NJ
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) Side-note: if I'm an Eastern Conference team with cap space, I'm making a qualifying offer on Lopez or Humphries to blow this s*** up. They can't be traded once that happens, meaning Brooklyn would have no hope of completing the deal. They'd deserve it too since they seem to be trying to give Orlando as little as possible. They gave away a lottery pick that would have been a nice piece for a pending free agent, and they used all of their contracts to acquire Joe Johnson. The Bulls should do that. Make an Asik-sized offer on Lopez.
  21. They shall both meet their demise at the fiery fist of CAPTAIN KIRK HINRICH
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 10:20 AM) Why AJ was always in tune to the new styles of the time, see: that way cool bleached hair
  23. Listen, I'm willing to admit that many of us became jaded when it comes to CJ because of the way he played hurt. When healthy, he was a competent backup. That doesn't change the fact that he really wasn't the best fit -- he was a terrible defender and far too high volume of a shooter. Sometimes he would make up for poor shot selection with the ability to make shots, sure. However, I feel like that just isn't what we want on a Thibodeau type of team. Kirk isn't exactly John Stockton, but I trust him to be a more team-oriented leader on offense, still knock down open jumpers when needed, and play far better defense than any of last year's point guards. I also believe we'll see Kirk play the 2, particularly when the opposing 2 is 6'5" or less. He can get a few extra minutes by being on the court at the same time as Teague and being a more defense-oriented 2 when the situation calls for it. We saw this in the early days of Rose's career as well. Ideally, it'd be like having a Keith Bogans that has offensive game...but I don't know if Kirk still has it on D, we'll see
  24. Caulfield, I quit reading at "Nate Jones...fastball...lack of movement" He has extremely good 2 seam run on his fastball. Everything that guy throw is nasty. He, like other pitchers, still must locate and change speeds though.
