  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 07:53 AM) Apparently Clay Mathews posted Godells number last night on-line. https://twitter.com/NickHietpas/status/2504...2385664/photo/1 That seems like a good way to get suspended
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 06:12 AM) I didn't jump up or yell when Dunn hit that second homer. I was literally stunned, and I just sat there saying "I don't believe what I just saw." I loved the crowd's reaction. Even watching it on TV, it had a playoff feel to it. I wonder what was going through Dunn's head as he hit that bomb. Relief? He did his slow walk from the batters box as he gently dropped the bat, but he must have had great emotions running through him. That ballpark REALLY came to life there, it was really cool to see. I wish I had been there. Dunn is the player I'd most like to see get hot again. If he wants to have games like this now and then, I don't care if he goes on those little 4 game slumps here and there. This was a win that you can place squarely on his shoulders. Awesome.
  3. Again...Ozzie can't f***ing speak English. Who really wants him doing a serious broadcasting job?
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:23 PM) TJ Lang ‏@TJLang70 Got f***ed by the refs.. Embarrassing. Thanks nfl suspended suspended
  5. Also, why the hell didn't Jennings swat that ball down?
  6. Looking at it again, Tate's hand was on that ball virtually the entire time.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) I don't think Thornton woulda got the save had Robin left him in. That's kind of scary ... again. I'd go with Reed unless there are TONS of lefties like tonight. I'm not sure about Thornton. They didn't actually hit him hard tonight, so I don't know. I wouldn't anoint him as full time closer for sure, but I'm not too angry about him being the guy to start an inning with L-R-L or something like that.
  8. This is the best way for the replacement refs s*** to come to a head
  9. lol like lol how do you treat a catch that has two potential recipients like that? clearly the GB defender had control first but it was at one point fairly neutral when they contacted the ground
  10. Don't lump Q in with Humber. They've had completely different career trajectories. Q has more or less flourished at every level (albeit low until this season). Humber struggled at several levels including the MLB before last season.
  11. Keep Reed at top of totem pole, but prioritize matchups. Do what is possible to prevent Reed from facing lefties in a 1 run ballgame.
  12. He gave up the homer and a couple other hard hit balls, but there were an obscene amount of soft hits in this game. He was hitting 94 on a fairly regular basis. I'm not worried about his health. We've got a pennant to win.
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Joe f***ing.........Adam f***ing Dunn Gotta say Thorton looked fine dinked to death That was some late game early season magic. Cue the Living on a Prayer ^^^ this I said it had to be Dunn or Konerko to bust us out and, well, Dunn did his part. Now the contagious hitting part has to happen. And more Dunn will be needed
  14. My take: he may not be done. However, we don't need him. We're already bringing back Sale, Q, Danks, Hector, Axelrod at the least. Gavin can be had for a non-exorbitant amount. Peavy wants to work out a way to return. Liriano could probably be had cheaply. Humber is near double digits on the starting pitcher priority list at this point.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) That is awesome. Is Bell the one who gave up the home run walkoff they are talking about in the thread? If so, bad timing. I won't stand up for Ozzie here, but I would suspect Bell will not have the sympathy of many, not after that episode on the TV show where he seemed like a goof talking to Ozzie in the office. s***, Bell is lying cause in that episode Ozzie talked to him about his closer's role. Heath Bell sounds like he has as big an ego as Ozz. I just saw the story. I doubt Heath Bell is going to get Ozzie fired. Remember, Loria wanted Bell replaced before Ozzie replaced him as closer. This might make it easier to keep Ozzie. Loria will look like he's caving in to Heath Bell of all people if he cans Ozzie. Now if Buehrle goes after Oz, I guess Oz is finished. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8420672/...r-ozzie-guillen The conversation you are referring to was very odd but the thing that stuck out to me was that Bell felt it was way overdue. You could tell he had been in the dark for quite a while. What happened to the Ozzie that would just go up to you and tell you what he's thinking? They had to stage a god damned interview for him to tell Bell that he trusted him. You say that to his face everytime you take the ball from him or give the ball to him.
  16. Probably not healthy and something certainly changed as he battled walks for basically the first time as a professional. It would be a big and unnecessary risk to keep him around. I think we have plenty of other options.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) A Conservative History of the United States (more at link) I liked this one September 11, 2001: Nothing happened: “We had no domestic attacks under Bush.”—Rudy Giuliani
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) Intel, the boy scouts' biggest donor, halts donations over anti-gay policy. link That's awesome.
  19. It's out of respect to all of our Jewish fans. Youk could have and has sat out before due to this holiday.
  20. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) I have a feeling that coming home will be enough for this team to turn around. I think the travel has taken a significant toll. I wish they could get an off day as a team.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 10:10 PM) Your lol looked like a guy throwing his arms up. I don't know why I just noticed that. \o/ that's basically my reaction to the past month of baseball. \o/
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) No, it hasn't happened yet. When it happened in 05, the sox took off. It was like the pressure disappeared. I feel like Dunn or Konerko will have to do something big. Those are the two guys that we've seen carry the team for an appreciable stretch. Dayan Viciedo is the one other player that has been able to put the team on his back for more than a week as well, but I don't know that we're about to see that. Regardless, somebody is going to bust out at a big moment and I expect it to spread like wildfire to the rest of the guys. Hopefully it happens in time
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) WTF is the point of getting to the playoffs to get swept, and not even care? That's the dumbest mentality I've ever seen. OMG WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS. Who gives a s***, the point is to win a championship. The end. I want us to make it for the sole reason that we'll have a chance to win it all. We may not be a cinch, but the talent is there for us to get hot and win the thing. I'd rather get swept out than miss it, sure, but it's all about that chance at a ring.
  24. lolololol the Tigs lost twice today I don't even know what to think anymore, I'm just going to pencil us in for a WS win
  25. The Tigers lost twice! lol!
