  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) I agree. That's why I said some of them are radical. However, in many of the post he refers to the primary reason is to keep the federal government from taking too much control of everything. That's he calls many posters "government lovers" or says many poster equate government with God. But we are happy for the government to ban things like murder. The pro gun control argument is saying that we are minimizing murders in a more or less non invasive manner by restricting the sale and manufacture of guns.
  2. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 11:57 PM) Another guy in a situation where the head coach is the mastermind behind the offense, I don't want any part of the Saints/Packers OC. I'm generally with you on that point. He could be great, but his experience is far less convincing given their HC.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) In all honesty, Illinois looks very poorly coached. That's exactly how they played tonight, I agree. We're a few games like this from the target appearing on Groce. I think he's a good coach, but this team hasn't played like it for a few games now. The reason we don't get calls is we are being manhandled. We are weak and it is hard for a ref to tell the difference between a foul and us just being p*****s. Hard nosed guys like Byrd get the benefit of the doubt and we don't play like that. In general, we will struggle to win games in which there are few shooting fouls called.
  4. Illinois just became irrelevant. We benefited from some calls early, and the officiating was simply bad (not biased), but the calls at the end hurt us for sure. Getting the ball back with 21 seconds down 2 would have been nice and very possibly changed the result.
  5. We'll say that Byrd was "physical" to get position there.
  6. Call a timeout while SLIDING ON YOUR KNEES? lol Laughable rebounding, nonetheless
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 09:33 PM) It ain't over yet I guess, down 3 with 1:45 to play. Yep, my opinion has officially been made pliable.
  8. Illinois looks like s*** and they look like they need coaching. Starting to lose that optimism I had earlier in the year. Look like pure s*** tonight, can't lose to a team of this caliber on any court.
  9. I would say Billy Blanks' TaeBo would be more useful in this instance.
  10. So...does that mean the guy had sex with her?
  11. I still think we will see Simon Castro sometime soon. He had a nice year and his right handedness could be an asset, especially if we ship Gavin out.
  12. From the D's I've heard that we refuse to negotiate this "cliff," and earlier than that I heard that if they do negotiate, they will have to increase taxes even more to get a Presidential signature.
  13. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 12:15 AM) Oh so we just close off the entire domestic market for semi-automatic rifles. So like drugs they will be repulsed at the border by our impervious wall of lazy government employees. That'll work wonders. Luckily, unlike drugs, almost all the guns in the USA are made in the USA. Takes a fair amount more (conspicuous) infrastructure to make a gun than a plant as well.
  14. Everybody insisting there will be no debt ceiling debate... Am I living up to my tagline in hoping everyone has had too much fighting to do this BS again?
  15. Countless bowls, all pointless
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) I believe this hard of a fight will result in the very best compromise we could hope for. I really hope there is no move to increase the debt ceiling. We may finally be putting the brakes on government borrowing. Why would we stop borrowing? Balancing the budget now would cause an absolute calamity.
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) From what I read a 'friend' bought them for him, and is now being prosecuted as a straw buyer. I just can't find the link anymore. At least somebody gets held responsible. Too bad we have to lose two good men first.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) I hate that 80% of resolutions are getting in shape and the gym is ridiculously filled for the first month or so of the new year. My resolution is to create an official bucket list today and pick one thing to accomplish off it this year, I'll post whatever that is when I have chosen. At least a few people will change their lives for the better for their attempts. I want to make a designated night per week or two weeks when I go to the movies. I don't see enough new stuff. Likewise, I want to see more films that aren't mandated by my coursework. I want to particularly focus on films that I wouldn't happen upon otherwise, like indie flicks and foreign films. I also want to generally organize myself better. I will start this by tracking my food intake like I used to and hopefully getting into a rhythm in the gym. I've had a rash of injuries and I've had a ton of restrictions. We'll see if I can get that to work out...I may have an impending surgery. Physique changes are much harder when I can't lift or sometimes workout at all. :/
  19. I'm hearing that they will only put amendment on floor if they have 218 votes for it, which is unlikely. If no amendment, then straight up and down vote. This should be successful. One rep tweeted that he thought the Senate bill would pass without Dems. On the other hand, a "senior aide" said he thinks it will all fall apart and it will have to go to the 113th.
  20. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) I agree in concept. But in reality that would get absolutely nothing done. I'm from a rural area here in Illinois. Believe me I want all views represented. Illinois politics is ruled by Chicago because of this. However, too many people trying to make one decision will lead to more indecision and no action. I'm from rural Illinois and I don't think my reps have ever represented me. They go in there to push their ideology... And that's okay. What else would they do?
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) I'm not terribly convinced by her argument there A bit of a stretch
  22. I'm now prepared for them to do nothing. Ever.
  23. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) You must have missed my line somewhere when I said Boner needs to borrow one of Nancy Pelosi's testicles. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) Um...
  24. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Exactly what Obama wanted. Now he gets to claim he cut taxes for "middle class Americans". Except no one cared what they called it. Obama has said both that he's cutting taxes for middle class and that he's raising taxes on the wealthy. Repubs have apparently even forgotten how to use semantics to their advantage. Would you rather hear that your taxes had been cut pre-emptively or a couple days late? All the cuts were temporary - - extending them means cutting taxes again. Boehner needs to grow a set and realize his party is about to lose its majority if he doesn't do anything.
  25. Opting to add 'responsible spending cuts.' Deal is dead. This bulls*** of not putting things up for a vote is f***ing ridiculous.
