I hope Liriano broke his ass cheek

We've been taking a lot of easily hit pitches

QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) How come Peavy was charged with the ER with the Rios error The hit(s) that followed made it not matter that we gave up the extra base

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) If you want to blame someone for a play that should have been made, PK was slow to react on Plouffe's cheap single. Absolutely. He has regressed very rapidly over there. This has been a game of lucky ass plays

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) I think Youkilis should have stopped Rios' bad throw. Definitely. And Peavy should have been back there. It was a three way error

When did this game become a blowout?

Marlon Byrd suspended 50 games for using PEDs
Jake replied to Frank_Thomas's topic in The Diamond Club
He tested positive for tamoxifen, which is anti-estrogen pharmaceutical most commonly used by men when in post-cycle therapy. It was discovered as a breast cancer treatment oddly enough. Byrd says he was given the stuff from a "holistic lifestyle coach" from Florida and didn't bother looking into what it was. If that story is true, the person that gave it to him was an idiot because this pharmaceutical does no good as a standalone addition to an exercise regimen, unless he has an endocrine dysfunction (in which case he should see a doctor) -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) Ok, that is an error...that is not even the same dude. Agreed. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) I have heard Cuban pro ball likened to about our High A or AA ball. I have heard this as well. Their top league stats are at least worth listening to.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) Agree 100%. Just trying to think of a justification for this. Perhaps the track records of the respective hitters? And if Gordon is put into a slump by batting in the easiest spot in the lineup, he's never going to be an MLB player. I didn't immediately think to make the lineup this way, but I get the logic and you're going to give the guy with two rings on his hand some credit. This also doesn't disrupt the middle of the lineup where there are some mental midgets like Alex Rios, as well. Gordon got out of his slump a long time ago and it wasn't all done in the 2 hole. It's going to be okay.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) Well not really. I don't think you spell it the same but what the heck why not have two super subs? I think Eduardo and Jordan Danks can take care of all of our pinch running and outfield/infield defensive needs. Orlando Hudson can play anywhere in the infield as well and brings a fun, veteran presence to the clubhouse. We still have plenty of flexibility to bring in a guy like Dan Johnson if we really want and potentially get a bigger bat on the bench. If Brent's hit tool was better, it would make sense to have both he and Eduardo. In Brent's current role, his batting was like an all too good Brent Morel imitation. Eduardo is younger and is hitting better off the bench (and plays far better IF defense) and the arrival of Jordan Danks begins to negate the need for Brent's defense in the OF. Youkilis allows you to pull the 1B for a PR and still get a GG-caliber 1B over there. Hudson or Escobar will man the hot corner late in some of these games as a result. We basically just have more flexibility than we even may need on the bench at this point.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) Sox traded him back to Toronto in the offseason. When we last played Toronto, he didn't have much in the way of numbers either. But...DUMP CRAIN HE SUCKS

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) Let's see he can play LF-CF-RF, 1B, 2B, SS and 3B, can pinch hit and pinch run, can steal a base for you ... I think there are plenty of good reasons to like Lillibridge. I am only saying that hew can fill that super sub role well. Correct me if I am wrong but I sure don't think he had many chances to play this season. Ventura seems to like to let his reguars get the lions share of playing time. That's fine but guys like Lilli and Escobar get forgotten it seems His name is Eduardo Escobar

Is this back issue new this year or something that has come up in the past? It's not hard to see that he's had injury issues before, but I don't recall what any of them were prior to this season.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) Sale Starts 14-4 Peavy Starts 14-4 Quintana Starts 14-4 Floyd Starts 6-12 Axelrod/Danks/Humber Starts 2-16 I'd say not all three of the top 3 (probably only one) will give the Sox that kind of record, one will give us a slightly worse record, and one will be nearer .500. Floyd will be better than that and the 5th starter spot will be FAR better. All that said, that should still be a damn good team.

I think that even in a best case scenario for the players received by Boston and something close the worst case scenario for Youkilis, this is still the right deal. My guess is it will resemble the Swisher to NY trade, it at least resembles it now.

Just an FYI since I work in the dietary supplement industry....until about 2009/2010, GNC and most other supplement sellers were selling oral anabolic steroids. Most don't work quite as well due to some oral bioavailability/cost reasons, but they were still steroids and in fact much more dangerous than the injectables. If Quintana bought something like that, he's probably lucky he didn't permanently harm his reproductive/endocrine health and very well may have not gotten much out of it without an (illegal) pharmaceutical post cycle therapy. If you're wondering how this phenomenon stopped, the FDA raided the largest supplement retailer (bodybuilding.com) and just now concluded that legal process, commanding an $8M settlement from the retailer and getting millions from the companies selling the products as well. It was hazy legally whether it was okay, but the FDA cleared that up by destroying a lot of mainstream brands that day lol. Despite my feeling that folks should have access to that stuff, the way it worked was inherently unsafe and it needed regulation for it to ever have a chance to stay on the market.

For all the people that tried to say O-Dog is an asshole, he actually seems like a pretty cool guy and is by all accounts well-liked in the clubhouse.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:32 AM) I like it, because this year is lost as you stated, and then they can amnesty Boozer next offseason, giving the Bulls enough to offer a max contract. Who is going to be a UFA after this season? Oh, possibly Dwight. I guess I'd have to deal with it, but I really don't like Dwight Howard. Not someone I want to have to cheer for.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Even Phil Rogers was raving about this deal. Said it was the best KW in-season move since Garcia/Contreras in 2004. For some reason, he thought Leesman was one of the top prospects who would have been potentially included, LOL'ed at that one a bit. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,6808460.column Not that that would have mattered

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) From the New York Post yesterday basically, that was to make the NY fans feel like they let go of a steroid using guy who has no chance to succeed
