  6. Not exactly textbook, but hell of an appearance for Nate. He needed that.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Elbow discomfort usually equals 15 day DL trip (at a minimum). The other option is that Gavin will become our closer.
  8. Sloppy ass play by the Mariners thus far
  9. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) How's Castro doing in the minors? Just pitched two innings for the first time since June 17. Not sure that he's going to be ready this year
  10. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) If he goes, who is the next guy called up? Axelrod? Jose Lopez
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) How do you figure? Lefty lineup for the Mariners, and he struggles against lefties. This is my wishful thinking for "new" Hector
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) I know but to the point where he cant pitch past the 2nd? Thats not good. We'll see...could be something new
  13. Hector should match up fairly well
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Gavin hurt? he's been hurt rain delay is only going to make it harder to stay loose
  15. Ryan having some kind of day
  16. I actually made a thread prior to this season after watching a couple of my WS DVDs. The gist of it was don't forget how awesome that was when you b**** about the current state of the franchise...and also, don't forget how similar of a position we were in prior to the 2005 season. I will bump it if we win it all.
  17. It sucks, but they still got who they got. A-Gon is going to be crazy productive in the NL I'm sure. Crawford isn't a terrible player, just overpaid and has had that injury bug since he got paid. I don't know what to think about Beckett, but he should probably at least hold down his spot in the rotation. They are in salary hell for sure, but the players they got are apt to produce. I have to think that it is better to pay handsomely in dollars for players that will produce than to give away a ton of talent or dollars and get nothing. Not the worst trade ever, I don't think. Talk about going all-in, though...
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) If we got in the playoffs the rotation should be: Sale, Peavy and then Liriano and Quintana(not necessarily in that order), I couldn't care less if there's 3 lefties, they're your 4 best starters at the moment, it's a no brainer. Yup. Gavin can stand by for a clutch long relief appearance if need be.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) It really doesn't matter. Nobody but Ackley had a chance to throw out Wise. As long as Wise had tagged, he obviously scores, catch or non-catch. But an interesting rules debate, nevertheless. Wise was on second base.
  20. Jake replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nobody is definitely gone. Only a few are certainly back.
  21. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 05:12 PM) The mini fridge I bought for my freshman year of college stopped working today. It was a great 8 year run we had. That's really impressive. I'm an RA and I see people not getting their fridges through a single year all the time
  22. I like the repayment of contract idea. Of course, I would have the team give all that money to an MLB-approved charity -- they have to be held accountable for signing a juicer just like they would for an oft-injured player or something like that...can't bail out their finances by having the player juice.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) Yeah not really, he played in the majors before we got him. He is a Marlins prospect. Marlins got him from Rule 5 from the Dodgers. Is he a Dodgers prospect? He was a waiver claim, I'm putting him with the Quintanas and Septimos of the world. Since he had to produce in our MiLB to get a shot to be a major leaguer, I consider him our own find. If he was truly a "prospect" to the Marlins he wouldn't have been given away.
  24. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 11:01 AM) De Aza? Really? But yes, otherwise I agree. He played on our farm, we had to coach him in the minors as well as decide if he was worth a shot on our MLB roster despite basically zero MLB time before that. I consider finds like that to be very much along the same lines as a good draft pick. Same thing as Jose Quintana, really
  25. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Because I can't help myself... Cowley on Sale That was so close to being completely right....and then it was completely wrong
