The best time is if you get into one right before or right after they have opened or a planning a new phase.

The Vero Beach and Hilton Head resorts are very nice. I've also heard that Marriott has a very good program.

Anytime Steff. If you need any more info let me know. BTW, depending on where you are looking in Florida, Disney has a fantastic plan and they have a resort at Vero Beach. Of course they also have a few at Disney World. Both my Mother and my Sister and her Husband are members and they absolutely love it!! They also have exchange capability.

That's correct. There were other packages that I think went up to 6 weeks. Our package was I think between $10,000 and $11,000. (of course the higher package you get the association goes up as well)

Our home base is in Vegas and it was a little rough getting started but all in all it hasn't been too bad. The association is $214 a year and the Gold membership with Interval International (which gives us the option of exchanging) is $133 a year. We can get a two bedroom unit for a week everyother year or a one bedroom or studio for a week every year. Our home base is also a five-star gold rated which means we have no problems with exchanging for any resort. Another nice feature is we are not a set week, it can be anytime of the year.

Here is where we stayed. It was part of our time share exchange but they also rent rooms on a nightly/weekly basis. http://www.ranchobanderas.com/

I've heard good things about Playa Del Carmen. The sad part is it probably won't stay this way for long if the word continues to spread.

Where in Mexico Steff? We were in Cancun for Xmas 2002 and then last May we went to Puerta Vallarta for my birthday. I like the water and the beach better in Cancun but preferred the smaller and quieter atmosphere of Vallarta.

Very sad story...
I think the same thing should happen to him. Does Michigan have the death penalty?

We usually take 2 or 3 trips a year. We already went to North Reddington Beach, FL in January and we are going on a 7 night cruise in November stopping in Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Or summer trip is either going to be Naples, FL....Ft. Lauderdale, FL or Las Vegas.

engagement ring advice thread
We spent just about $10,000 on our wedding (156 guests) and closed on our first home 5 months later. We just made sure we gave ourselves enough time to plan and save for everything so it wouldn't be stressfull and a burden. We were engaged in October 1993 and got married in February 1995. Our home was new construction out in Lake in the Hills and we bought at the pre-construction phase so we got the lowest possible price. We both worked two jobs for about a year (cause what else are two 22 year olds going to do). The main thing is we did exactly what we set out to do, had the wedding that we wanted and did it all on our own. If there is something you want in life anything is possible if you want it bad enough.

What's wrong with spending $10,000 on a wedding?

The size is not as important as the clarity. Make sure it is a highly rated stone and from a reputable jeweler. You want the stone to have no visible flaws and no yellowness of any kind. I would go with a four prong setting to show off the stone more and go with a silver band instead of gold. I think it cheapens the ring. Also, find out what the trade in policy is. If ever in the future you would like to upgrade in size or rating make sure they have a friendly policy that does just that. For example, you have to spend $100 more than the trade in value, etc.
