QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) Everything's gone well so far. They just have to hire the right manager. Preferably somebody that can at least use splits and doesn't bunt every guy over to second given the chance. Earl Weaver available? I'd like a go for the 3 run HR kinda guy at this point.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) whitesox Chicago White Sox Don't miss our specially-priced Patio Party & Lower Reserved tickets 4 #WhiteSox games vs Royals, Indians & Rangers! http://atmlb.com/pbeOT7 It's sad and scary that it's come to this. I had such high hopes for 2011, and we all know KW and Co. did, too. JR opened the pocket books and on-paper (as usual), the team looked so f***ing legit. Sad face. The Sox DH is hitting .165. Not .265 or even .365, but .165 over 300+ AB. He is making Mark Kotsay look like a great option. The Sox CF is batting .205. He doesn't hustle, misplays balls, simply does not care. Between them they make about $25 million and have given the production expected out of a 25th man, 400k a year ballplayer. At some point, someone had to be held accountable for the roster and KW is in charge of that. KW is in charge of the coaching staff at the end of the day. He has taken this franchise and taken way too many steps backwards. I feel like the Seattle Mariners. They brought in a lot of high priced talented hitters and nearly all of it has been garbage. A team with great pitching but hitting that wouldn't cut it at AAA. One truly good player on each team Ichiro=Konerko. It is just painful.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:50 PM) Oh please, you know better. We will absolutely dominate the last two weeks of the season when we're already out of the race. Well Viciedo will be up by then, of course we will. -

I was actually at the game. It was brutal. Rios jogged towards every single ball. It was amazing watching him play like he didn't care. It was so much different in person. He should have dog s*** thrown at him from centerfield, then maybe he would move his ass. He is such a lollygagger. Can you imagine if Paulie wasn't resigned and we ended up with a Derek Lee or Adam LaRoche? We would be Chicago Cubs bad. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Why? I don't think Rios has thrown out a single runner yet and is petrified of the wall. Not that much of a downgrade. Griffey Podsednik Macoviak all former CF who would be the same if not worse than Pierre. Darin Erstad is coughing over here

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) Doesn't make sense at all from the Met's perspective. It really isnt a bad deal for the Mets. 3 holes are filled immediately with that deal. If I were the Mets, I certainly wouldn't look to deal Wright, but it isn't that bad of a deal on paper.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) At some point getting talent from losing organizations isn't exactly a good idea. Talent from a losing organization is actually a great deal to make. We dealt for mediocrity from a losing organization, therein lies the problem. Turns out he wasn't even mediocre, he was just plain bad.
-
If Q goes and Viciedo comes up to play RF, we have to deal for a 3B in order to offset the loss of Q and replace Morel who just isn't getting it done. The only problem, what 3B could they get. ARam from the Cubs would be nice, but that option next year is too big. Any other 3B out there who can help right now? 3B is just so shallow nowadays. Ty Wigginton could be available and it gets real bad after that in the trade market. Hell Betemit was a top option to trade for.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) I have little problem with Rios still getting some platoon at bats. As much money as he's getting paid, we almost have to play him. It is more about the length, he is under our control until 2014. He won't sit on the bench for 3 years making that much so it is in the Sox best interest to have Rios regain confidence and play better or we have what the Giants have in Rowand. A high priced player wasting away on the bench. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) Lash out at Jerry or the players. Jerry gave the sell order, and the players are the ones who sucked. the whole spend $125 million on payroll was just stupid. sox fans dont come out when cold and we dont come out when the team is mediocre which both happened again this year. a $100 million payroll is where it should be and have flexibility to bump it up if the team is good come summer time. unfortunately we are saddled with rios, dunn, peavy making near $40 million of that amount. it is going to be a tough future for the sox the next few years unless those major pieces turn it around. -

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) Or that Sale could be moved into the rotation if other starters are sent packing. sale would need to be stretched out big time in the minors. he wouldnt be a starter until next year. -

trever miller is a solid LOOGY, adds some bullpen depth, tells me thronton is going bye bye or sale back to the minors to work on being a starter -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) I think he's an ok prospect, but being our #1 prospect doesn't exactly mean much. you could probably put joe borchard back in charlotte and he would be our top prospect again. our farm is a bunch of crap. -

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) I'm not giving an MLB pitcher who's getting paid as well as Peavy is any credit for being a five inning starter. I'll accept that from a 22 year old rookie, or fifth starter. I will not accept it from Peavy. If this is all he's good for, he should have stayed in the minors or accepted a demotion to the pen. But at this point he is a 5th starter. Just the highest paid 5th starter in baseball, or well 2nd, forgot about Zito.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Oh, forgot Santos can't get the save here. This is just weird. Why take the save away from Matt? And then have Santos face a lefty? Do the White Sox get a "TEAM SAVE" but not an individually-credited one for a pitcher? Not wierd, just stupid, take out the lefty for a right facing a LH. SO STUPID!

QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) It's not that I thought Dunn would suck this bad. And, I didn't mind the fact that the Sox signed him. I just knew that they paid him too much yearly and for too long a period because let's face it, Dunn already looks like he's 45 playing in a beer league. Secondly, I knew the Sox needed some of that money for other players - particularly J.J. Putz. That pissed me off to see him go to Arizona for $ 5 mil. a year and ofcourse he's 15 for 15 now. That alone would have changed this season. Kenny did not need to throw that kind of money at the DH spot - and ONCE AGAIN for a guy (Dunn) that was NOT a great hitter. And, even at his best has a skill set that is very very limited. He's the anti-Lillibridge. Could have thrown a few more bucks at VMart, but alas we have Dunn. Maybe the Braves would wanna swap Uggla for Dunn, they are equally disappointing.

http://www.csnchicago.com/05/12/11/Sox-Dra...&feedID=621 Saw this earlier today and I didn't see a post about it. Pretty awesome they are doing the series this weekend. They were awesome together in the 90's.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Thing is...lots of teams have guys who are let go either for contractual reasons, age reasons, or performance reasons, but I do struggle to think of any team that is ripped as regularly by its former players as the Sox are. Our view is quite narrow since we digest White Sox news constantly. We are fans and we don't get a whole lot of news about other organizations. Also ESPN loves Ozzie for his no holds barred comments, thus our stories get blown up a bit more than most. I am sure if you look at other organizations, you will see each team probably has had some issues with disgruntled players. Look at the Cubs, Milton Bradley, Jacque Jones, Sammy Sosa etc all had issues with the Cubs letting them go, but it was all done for performance. Some of these athletes can't handle being told that their services aren't needed.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Frank Thomas, Ordonez, Carl Everett to some extent, some of the failed prospects (Josh Fields, Brian Anderson, I think McCarthy had a few words). All of those that left though had to go for one reason or another and most due to declining play. They couldn't handle being told they were not good enough. Maggs was coming off knee surgery and his departure allowed us to fill multiple holes and win a WS. Then you have professionals like I mentioned earlier who went about their business, found new jobs and had no problems.
